I never had any trouble on Craigslist, but I usually get the free or broken stuff. Scammers don't try to scam you using broken items as bait. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I have encountered scammers before. One guy wanted me to launder money for him and another guy was running a free baby grand piano scam.
My favorite category of horror stories right here, because they are completely true. I recently went through some creepy stuff putting up adds on Craigslist
I think Dave in the first story must have thought that the guy was going to give a scam to steal the TV that was also stolen, it was like ''Scam artist hitting scammer''
That first story: That was a weird one. Is that how some people get their kicks? Post ads on Craigslist, pretend they are selling something at a place they don't live at, then make a creepy call to the potential buyer in the wee hours of the morn, then vacate the house and block their number? Get a life, whoever you are.
I think Dave had stolen that television and wanted to sell it on Craigslist but as the guy said he would come back later with a friend Dave must have thought ''He wants to steal the television from me, he must be a thief too'' and made the call in the middle of the night to make him never try to contact him again

Exactly. Or at least open the window in your room to make it look like you already left as a distraction. But me, even before he’s breaking the glass, I’ve got my gun loaded and I’m making my way toward the other exit in the house. If he gets near me, he gets a bullet. I don’t care about castle doctrine or the laws in my state-if I am in fear of my life, I’m not taking chances.
The story about Mike the Creeper and the car for sale resolves so differently when read - {glass breaking} I ran and hid in my bedroom closet (this is fine) chambering a round in my Sig 9mm I retrieved from my nightstand drawer. You're safely hidden. You're armed. Way better than cowering, crying, hoping the cops show up on time.
Too bad if you live in Australia. It's unlawful to have a firearm in a drawer. You need to be licensed to own one, and have it locked away in a safe.But I totally agree with you, that would be much better in that situation. Terrifying!
someone who lives in your household is way more likely to be accidentally or intentionally shot than you are to have a home invasion or anything like that and actually be prepared for it at the moment it happens and defend yourself. even if there is a home invasion you're likely to wake up looking at them holding a firearm to you and telling you to open the gun safe this varies on the household but it's true as a statistic. there are many reasons your own weapon is likely to be used against you, including your hesitance to shoot, potentially because loved ones or neighbors are on the other side of the wall/floor/ceiling. people are in a Rambo fantasy. guns don't solve everything. you can't just buy a gun and be safe. if guns keep you safe then we don't need to talk about how dangerous a cop's job is anymore. they have lots of guns keep pepper spray with your firearm. if you don't train regularly and appropriately with the firearm then get rid of it.

I wonder at the naïveté of people (especially lone women) who allow strangers to come to their home to buy stuff. The car lady should have met up with the buyer at a public parking lot in broad daylight and NEVER atole them her address.
It doesn't explain why the house appeared to be abandoned when he came back the second time, it doesn't explain why the neighbor said no one lived there, and it doesn't explain why Dave called the guy in the story at 4 am with a creepy laugh
@@-GearUp couldve been worried the storyteller was lying about his friend coming to cause him harm, could’ve told the neighbor not to let anyone know he lived there in fear for his life and why the house looked different, and lastly he could’ve either been drunk or buttdialed him because he said he couldn’t understand what he was saying. It’s entirely possible.
I have had my fair share of weird shit on Craigslist, but then again, I also found a 3DS XL in good Nick for only like $50 with hookups on there, so I’d say it’s worth it 😃😃
R.e the last story, why would his friend in the pickup not mention that someone was following them earlier? That's the kind of thing you speak on the moment you notice it
The buyer did Dave wrong in the first story. Goes to look at the item and says “hold it and will return tonight for pickup” ummm no thanks. Dave was the victim.
