Story 2: Nobody dislikes karens more than I do but that guy Charles is unstable. As for the manager who passed that message to him that made him crazy: very unprofessional not to have waited until the guided hike was finished. She clearly did that on purpose.
Thank you!! Camping, hiking, wilderness/deep woods stores are my absolute favorite!!!! Plus I’m visiting family up north so this is perfect 🙏 I literally tell people who don’t get on RU-vid about you that’s how much I love this channel.
Wow, cool interpretation. The whole time I thought the guy was planning to off himself. The careful planning, the multiple spots picked out, the weird cover story, the somber “Thanks man…” and the washing in the river. No one wants to die unclean right?
@@user-Hal82yeah but they never found a body.. he took his clothes off and washed himself so the dogs couldn't track him. I'm pretty sure he's "starting over" and moving on.
I mean he went to the exact location and had self made maps. Sounds like he knew more about it than anyone else. Dude probably found a portal to an alternate universe or something 😂
Wow the friend in the second story was an incredibly good friend for trying to make her friend's dream come true. I aspire to be that kind of friend. I feel so bad that it went the way it did for them both. ☹️
@@ImaKhunt007 i don't, but one time hubby and i were listening to pat robertson talking about it on the tv and laughing about it. later in the day i went to the bedroom for something and saw hubby's clothes in a pile with his shoes under it (plus socks) and his hat on top. i told the cats that "daddy got raptured" and laughed.
You keep doing this. Whatever you are doing.. cause this is what helps me fall asleep but also enjoy when I'm awake. It's not just your voice but your tone and how you portray the stories. Much respect. Keep it up.
I think Chuck warped into a parralel universe. He was physics doctor who studied quantum theory which can only mean who knew exactly where to go in order to jump timelines. That explains why they never recovered him. That's my theory. Either way great story 😊❤
@Julia-cb8wm Him being naked was the only way the portal would open. That or he simply took off his clothes to feel more comfortable in his _true form._
If you liked the last story you should watch the movie Ravenous (1999). It’s partially based off of the life of Alfred Packer. It’s a great horror movie.
I love the Let's Read channel! I listen to it while doing laundry, washing dishes, tidying up in the kitchen, folding clothes, hanging out the laundry..... You get the picture, lol so thankyou so much 😊
@@davewielhouwer11 Well, not necessarily, the farmlands are relatively tame excluding the nights But I can assure you, Fresno IS MUCH MUCH worse than most of California, it's like LA if you compacted it
WOW, this automatically played while i was lying in bed w/a migraine. I had no idea what to expect, in too much pain to care, I figured Id just doze off...Whaaat? I was anxiously awaiting every next word of each story. Fantastic delivery dude! Perfect narration, Great Stories! I usually hate narration, most voices rake my nerves, Not yours Got my Sub! Thanks I actually feel better, all i have is a headache at least im not being eaten by cannibals 😂
David Paulides ..Missing 411. --young intelligent white male --point of separation --missing shoes/clothing --water --wilderness # the story was written with these things in mind, but it mimicks strange but true missing person clusters.
This is the first night since I had my last baby on 2/14/24(Valentine’s Day) I’ve been able to fall asleep to your channel. He’s finally in his room with his brother and I can actually listen to stories again without worrying about waking up a baby! Thank you so much Joel, I’ve been looking forward to this for far too long! Keep up the great work!
The movie Ravenous with Guy Pearce and Robert Carlyle is loosely based on the Alfred Packer case. There are also elements of the supernatural incorporated into the story. I highly recommend giving it a watch!
Seems to me Chuck wanted a restart of a new life. He probably had a bag of fresh shoes and clothes. He walks off into the forest with the bag then strips his old clothes off, washes off in the stream, then puts on completely brand new clothes that dont have his scent or they are clothes from goodwill with someone else's scent. He may be running from his family or maybe he owes money to dangerous people and hes faking his death. If he's not found in a certain amount of time he would then be presumed dead.
Chuck sounds like a sociopath/narc....his boss never should have passed that news to him while he was working but once they got back.... what a horrible story....they should have taken back the ladies again.... awful...
Chuck? You mean Charles? Chuck is off in some other dimension. But I 100% agree with you, Charles definitely sounds like a narc/sociopath. He probably snapped when he realized that he lost control of his victim aka: wife.
I’ve been listening to horror stories for a long time in order to sleep better. Not sure why it has taken me this long to find your channel but of all the other channels I’ve listened to, yours is far superior. I’m not sure why you don’t have more recognition, keep up the great content man!
Those 2 women sounded awful. Two insta obsessed idiots, crying and screaming, not listening to their guide, nagging and dragging their feet, asking for a refund on the side of a remote island mountain. You always listen to your guide, they are there for your safety. Then screaming about getting him fired and being belligerent on the Dock, you don't sound scared to me, you sound like POS. Do the world a favour and never subject the world to anymore of your travel flight of fancies. That guy kept his job. Those two women have interactions like this on the daily I have no doubt, no lesson was learned.
I live in Lake City and this town is still known for Alferd Packer. Very interesting to stumble upon his story just randomly listening to videos! The museum in town has tons of info on him and has the play house he had built when he was in prison.
Honestly Charles didn't handle it any better (not that moment, the whole thing. You're telling me you cheat on your wife and then punish strangers because she left you?
@lumiauroras6741 the dude is not well in the head, aggressive. You dont insist on every little thing going your way, you dont antagonize him even more. Zero survival skills , because someone always got what they wanted ei karen
I feel like chuck simply did not want to be found. He wanted to be off grid and wanted no one to know. I bet he is happily alive. A man as smart as that had a plan. He just needed help to get into the deep wilderness.
Disclaimer: I am not arguing what charles did was right. Now that that is out of the way that stroy is a good example and reminder that you need to be careful how you push people in this world of the customer is always right. Civilization, law, and order are great and have made wonderful changes, but have also allowed people to life under rose colored shade that keep them from remembering that the laws nature and the laws of civilization are at odds. If you are going to really push a person by being like the writer referred to as a "Karen" be 100% sure you can back that up if the other party no longer cares for the rules of society. No matter what the courts or authorities do, they will never undelo physical or mental trauma, and they will never be able to bring justice to death. Also your actions have consequences whether you like what those consequences are or not. If you can't put your money where your mouth is in that moment physically bit your tongue, it will do you more favors than you relaize.
I’m not American, however the Marine in #1 Thank you sir for your and all who serve for your service, the world is better because of the sacrifice you make. ❤from Australia❤
Oh, let's build a snowman. We can make him our best friend. We can name him Shannon! Shannon Wilson Bell. We can make him tall or we can make him not so tall. Snowman.
Everyone else in the story seem to lack a brain for that matter, going crazy at 2 women at work. Berating an unstable man while in his vicinity. Telling a worker a life changing news while he was out in the wild.
The first story twist: the guide was responsible… J/K but it’s crazy how many of these stories don’t even care about the well being of the people who go missing or apparently had something horrible happen to them. Who are you people? Lastly it would be nice if he remembered what “Chuck’s” field of research was.
Thanks to Trey Parker and Matt Stone, I can't hear the story of Alfred Packer without Cannibal: The Musical scenes playing in my head. This video went from creepy to shpadoinkle.
A little concerned to see people questioning if story 2 ladies did something to "deserve" getting choked out. The answer is no. Nothing ever warrants getting choked. This guy clearly had issues, it's boggling my mind to see people trying to justify his psychotic behavior. Dude probably did a lot more to his wife than cheat.
Exactly. His wife was probably leaving him for good reason. He sounds like an abuser. I didn't think questioning why the trip was terminated was at all unreasonable, either.
Literally scary to see so many comments feeling bad for him & wondering what the women did to him to be violent! Like why are they feeling bad for someone who assaulted a woman
I only saw the 1 comment but yah Im like 🤨😒😤 Now, I do think OP made a mistake in how she chose to deal w\him after seeing the psychotic break but STILL her reaction was an honest 1 & 1 I'm sure MANY ppl would've had after the horrible way they were treated. All he had to do was say I have a family emergency I have to deal with. & He could've even radio'd another guide to finish for him. But his actions were TRASH & they shouldn't be getting blamed!! I highly doubt they'd be saying that to a man questioning him & him going off like that. But we women are supposed to be meek mild feminine & helpless. Well, NEWS FLASH only some ppl seem to see feminine as weak! But we're not!
Hey I love the new intro !!!!🤓 Thanks for your hard work I love your channel ❤❤❤❤ your the reason I'm addicted to scary stories your the first I listen to and through all these years your still my favorite ❤❤❤
Alfred Packer was packed with a plentiful pack of packing lies to which Packer pled not guilty but Packer was prosecuted and sent to prison because Packer's pathological lies couldn't save him. And there, Alfred Packer packed fudge and had his fudge packed for 18 years.
I cannot believe the touring company thought it appeopriate to tell Charles about his wife leaving him while he was out with clients. Thats a complete mishandling of information. That man was set up to fail. If he returned early he could get in trouble or get the company in trouble. If he stayed out his mood would be effected and the clients would complain. Such a bad decision by the boss.
Chuck offered himself up as a sacrificial dinner to a Big foot, or whatever hybrid creature lives on that mountain. He wasn't just researching physics, apparently. There's been an increasing number of people stripping naked before stepping into a specific area of the wilderness and disappear.
The third true story has an interesting twist for some weird reason. Alfred Packer's first name was changed or misspelled to Alferd Packer. Then, back in the 1980s, the University of Colorado in Boulder built a new dining halland named it the Alferd Packer Restaurant and Grill. A very morbid, tongue in cheek joke that still remains the name of that dining hall. I still chuckle when I heard you narrate this story. 😅
