Whilst in Malaysia, Ustadh Nouman visited the Mufti of Federal Territory's office in Putrajaya, where he delivered an exclusive lecture to the executive staff on the topic of contemporary challenges faced by Muslims.
During the lecture, Ustadh Nouman mentioned three categories of Muslims and provided suggestions on how to overcome their challenges in today's world.

in malaysia, i think they kind of emphasize more on fiqh and lacking of wisdom. all about rules but the wisdom behind those rules arent really explained..which is sad because our religion is both kitab and hikmah..and when they teach quran, its all about tajwid..nobody care to explain to me what it means and i even heard people saying dont try to learn the meaning it in, you might get confused and deviates..im so glad i found nouman's quran lectures, really just what i need

Khali my brother all this is not we need. If we muslims dont build our centrum like the cristians in waticame with the pop…we have to build a centrum where we go to wote for the khalife wich represents the muslims without sects so no matter you came from sia or sunni family the centrum has no sect the centrum must represent the total muslims and be a far khalife wich we can go like every 4years and if we not happy with him we go wote for another khalife and this khalife must work all around the world for better islam. Very well said Brother Nouman. This is the reason Muslims aren't doing any proper invite/da'wah to others despite having opportunities to do so for the past 60, 70 years. Some Muslims here {3rd group} are too judgemental and ta'sub with their ulama's. Hopefully your advice will encourage more Muslims to help other on-the-edge Muslims as well as others to be closer to masajeeds and Allah.

@@moholah3745 “There is no compulsion in religion, the right direction is clearly distinguished from the wrong.” Quran 2:256 also this hadith has a poor translation of ‘zindiq’ as atheist but historically it doesn’t fully comply. my advice is that you do some more research on this Hadith to have a better understanding

What about Muslims who don't go to the bar, nightclub and also don't go to halakahs, seminars etc? I'm one of them (And I don't 'look Muslim' - if you met me in person you might assume that I'm any other creed expect Islam - but since when do Muslims even have ' a look'? That's what's even more depressing and a let down. From what I understand and have experienced, Muslims are ethically, culturally and linguistically very diverse. And why don't I go to any of the mentioned locations? Bars and nightclubs offer a very dark, sinister atmosphere, and unfortunately many mosques and the communities that attend these mosques are very insular, self-righteous, and Allah protect us (Ameen), potentially hidden cells for extremist recruitment..... Years back, I was even advised not to go to a certain mosque in South London because some men target vulnerable Muslim women. الحمد لله Allah has protected me from many deviant and dangerous paths, but it's also very exhausting and isolating having to practice Islam on my own*, and only with Allah's hidayah, inspiration and protection *( I guess it's human nature to interact with each other and be in groups and communities.) I hope I have not caused any sadness or upset with this comment, but I'm just sharing my experience about the reality of being a British Muslim woman who doesn't fit the mold.

In Malaysia we definitely need that layer of Islamic community that is not too Islamic. I am one of those groups that are interested in Islam after school and rarely finds a masjid/Islamic group to fit in. It is actually related to why there is some form of Islamopobia even here in Malaysia. We have US funded medias & NGO that spreads hatred against Islam, but we do not have a very solid media to fight against that unfortunately. As for the third group, actually in Malaysia we're the opposite. We have a rich culture that is integrated into the religion that we actually have more khurafat compared to "strict" Muslims. To the point where people that corrects false Hadith, shirk or clarify what the Shafi'i mazhab teachings are labelled as extremist(e.g wahabi) But alhamdulillah as our representative said, our government bodies monitor and take action. It is an on going work here in Malaysia. If they tackle the "12 year old problem" , in the future many of the different type of problems will reduce. Insha Allah. I begin with type 1 and a i am type 2 now and the only reason i avoid masjid because the level of knowledge and understanding i get online is difficult to find in my locality. And I never move to 3 i never let the extremism developed in me i listen many scholars and dai of islam but ask guidance only from Allah so that I don't get confuse by listening different views and perspectives regarding something. I am more of the side of an individual who are seeking the truth of being a muslim by the looking the answer directly from Allah, and not from any mortal or human being. Islam is the Divine Properties of Allah alone, should any human being pointed to themselves as a source of Divine Guidance, then what they are doing is Shirk, period. So any muslim should never associate themselves or acknowledging others as having any kind of exclusivity of having the Divine Properties, or having the status of a source that can give a Divine Guidance and Divine knowledge, because only Allah alone has that Divine Properties. You want to seek the truth of Islam? Ask and seek it directly from Allah, and you guys know absolutely where should we go to find that source right? The only miracle of Allah?👍👍👍

Such an insightful video. I am of the second category " the seeker" and a 3rd culture child- Canadian born, Canadian-Malaysian raised, with Pakistani Muslim parents. Alhumdullilah I have made a full circle back to Islam but I personally know countless people with a similar conditioning to mine that are struggling. I feel like the questions posed by the Malaysian representatives are skewed outwardly, instead of inward. Like NAK said, the experience of Muslims in the majority are unlike those living as minorities. If people are afraid of you when you're the majority, then that's an image issue that *YOU* yourself portrayed. You're not experiencing Islamophobia, and throwing that term around for yourself is irresponsible and lack accountability. There was an online "Singapore toilet" slander on TT that I saw recently, and there were many Malaysian Muslims who said things like, there's no bidet in the public toilets, and they wonder how Singaporean Muslims keep clean, if our solat is valid, if we're even "true" Muslims etc. They praised our toilets for being clean, but somehow our nether regions are not. It didn't occur to them that we might carry around water bottles with us, or wet tissues are valid ways to do istinjak. And I was like, have you seen *YOUR* toilets? I've seen feces on a bidet hose, or on the floor, and had I stepped on it would invalidate my wudhu. Sure you got bidets, but that doesn't mean I feel safe to clean myself or do wudhu in your toilets. This is just one of the examples for them to maybe not question the validity of our faith or how we practice Islam, and get their house in order first.

Ustadz said the cold truth about how we as Muslims are at fault for causing 'islamaphobia' in a Muslim majority country.. we need to look at ourselves and how we directly effect of our narrative from the eyes/perspective of a non-muslim.. I believe in Malaysia, we have failed to fully show and create positive awareness of the religion.. not just the festivities like Eid/Raya celebrations, our Malay food/culture but the islamic teachings as a whole.. somehow we still have that to rectify and the Muslim authorities in charge of this have to accept that they have not done as well as they think they may of.. cos they preach inside masjids or only to mostly Muslim audience.. but have neglected to create the knowledge of Islam to our neighbors, friends in school at work etc... not necessairly as a means to convert them or get them into the religion, but at least a bare minimum of sharing what is the beauty, core principles and values it provides not only for Muslims but for all people, religions and background

I used to be the person on the edge. And then i found ustad Nouman Ali Khan videos. From that i starting redevelope my faith with his video guidance. Now im still learning. Very much true.. we started learning Quran at a very young age and unfortunately it was all left to the children themselves to seek out the wisdom and knowledge on their own most of the times without the involvement of the parents. I think parents play important roles in developing the love interest of Quran in the qalb of the children. Most of the confusing thing that's been happening within the muslim community, I got the proper explanation through listening to his lectures. It will changes your way of thinking as a muslim but in a better sense. In a way that insyaallah will make us have more accountability with our own acts towards Allah..I wish more muslim will hear and take benefit from his lectures... PS I do also listening to many insightful lectures from other great ustadz, not just ustadz NAK. But most of my deeper thinking process, inspired by his lectures.

I would say I am more of a type 2 Muslim. Pandemic was a blessing for me in a sense that I started learning more about Islam, praying 5 times a day and started wearing hijab. However, my husband is type 1 Muslim as he is very ignorant about religion and when I bring up anything about Islam, he starts to act like he is not listening to me or switches the topic. I don’t know how to bring him to Islam😞

Allahuakbar.. Spot on sir.. Islam comes from the heart, based on what he/she gone thru through out. Some realize Islam earlier, some comes later, even though he/she is born in Muslim family. The most important thing is, do not judge other people too harshly. Do not think us in Islam, is the right for us to brag, that we are a better muslim, that allow us to look down at other people. Right Islam is the one who feel more scared and more humble to Allah SWT. May Allah protect me and all of us Muslim from mislead journey..

I am living first hand experience hearing khutbah Jumaat in Malaysia. Most of the authorized ustaz / imam / sheikh gave an out-dated script speech / khutbah / kuliah / teaching / spiritual talk emphasizing that if you are a born Malay, must be a Muslim. We need to change this narrative ASAP. Its damaging youngster's mind. Thats where Islam phobia will starts among the people who are at the edge as per Nouman talks about

I am more of the side of an individual who are seeking the truth of being a muslim by the looking the answer directly from Allah, and not from any mortal or human being. Islam is the Divine Properties of Allah alone, should any human being pointed to themselves as a source of Divine Guidance, then what they are doing is Shirk, period. So any muslim should never associate themselves or acknowledging others as having any kind of exclusivity of having the Divine Properties. You want to seek the truth of Islam? Ask and seek it directly from Allah, and you guys know absolutely where should we go to find that source right? The only miracle of Allah?👍👍👍

Baraka Allahu fik ustadhi i really enjoyed it and I'm 24 now being from the nd Muslim category i can say that it hit the core what u explained to us i feel like it's more of being afraid of deviation for me than the fear of judgment from people who are advanced in Islam even tho we're all Muslims cuz someone who's a true moumin/na won't make u feel any less unless they're not so.... I guess i being a young woman i can get thinking of myself as "lazy" if not socializing in public Islamic places such as masjid or institutions like these and justify it by what is told in the sunnah that women are preferred to pray at home so it's not obligatory for us but i end up being ignorant at so many things related to din so please if someone can relate to me tell me or u ustadhi please enlight me more on this topic I'd be grateful and thank u so much love and respect to u ustadhi and brothers and sisters for the sake of ALLAH

Brother Nouman. In Malaysia, muslim with harsh view is called walaun. They bring a brand of Islam and only that brand is true and applicable. Any other brand of Islam will be deemed as a deviant from the “true” teaching of Islam. It is interesting that you bring this topic as I can see that this lecture was made in Malaysia.

Jazakallahu khaira Ustadh, for this wonderful video. Was an enlightening one and also the approach that you suggested on the art of dawah should definitely help this ummah, insha Allah. Just a suggestion please, for this video in particular. There were many arabic texts/phrases mentioned. I was able to understand a few, but could not clearly understand the rest. It would be great if your team can add sub titles especially where Arabic texts are mentioned with no translation in the speech. May Allah bless you and the team involved, abundantly.

There is also a tv show by the name of second caliph of Islam Umar (RA) that showed the entire seerah of Prophet(Saw) as described by the scholar Imam Anwar Al Awlaki. The series is the live version of his lectures.

I watched this show called ertugrul on Netflix and I love how it has so many Islamic teachings within the show to a point where I pause the show to reread something from the Quran or the prophet’s stories and I sit back and say I wish they had more shows that speak on real events but it’s put in a show form to capture the viewers attention. I really think this generation would benefit a lot from shows like that.

i also watched house episodes and got uncomfortable many times when they mocked religion but even within their obvious mocking, i could see that house as an atheist character result in him being depressed, anti-social and selfish , there were even episodes where he questioned god existence and others where he was shocked and admitted that someone's prayers worked. So, yeah such intelligent TV show would even praise religion sometimes in between of the episodes in order to attracts all type of people backgrounds because if they were always and 100% promoting against religion it wouldn't succeed greatly not to mention we are talking about early 2000's
