Old hand planes are often thrown away - the sole of the plane is worn out, the wood is worn everywhere and yes, you can see that a lot of work was done with them. And the old planes are not worse than the new ones - often the planes are still built to the same specifications today as they were 30 or 50 years ago.
On the flea market or Ebay you can often find such an old plane that can be bought for little money. Because we spontaneously came up with the idea to build a base plane out of a plane and chisel during our shoot on the Old Handicraft (linked below), we thought about it again and present you today 2 more ideas how to modify a plane.

Grooving and rebating planes belong to the category of special planes. Good for those who know how to help themselves with a few quick tricks.
