We have some similarities which as we both know can vary in FMA systems. We use and separate the Snake disarms, Vine Disarms, Ejection or Strip disarms. I like to do a disarm over the Punyo from time to time. I agree about your disarm from the vertical strike to use your legs as its easier not to eat a knee since your face is higher up. I love doing strip disarms against a fixed bladed knife. Thank you for sharing your video!
Absolutely awesome videos! Thank you so for your time and effort making these high quality easy to follow tutorials. I am studying Kali to understand more about weapons, how to use them and how to defend against them and your instructions are top class. I study & teach a different martial art, Wing Chun Kung fu, but there are many similarities in Kali. Please would you consider posting a tutorial on the Bankaw or the Dulo Dulo... Much appreciated, big thanks to all at Union MAA 🙏😎
Stephen R thanks for watching! Will put it on the list. There’s also a video on this channel called “weapons of opportunity” should be very similar to the dulo. Check it out!
The third disarm leaves you very open to his second arm and his legs. In some situations when the opponent is busy disarming you, the best option may be to let go of the weapon before they are expecting you to, grab it again later, or with your other arm, or fight bare handed
So, would it interrupt or add to the flow to strike the bicep as part of the disarm. In my opinion, you have a viable target, would it not be so if the karambit were being utilized? Just a thought. I love kali....i don't know why I'm waiting till now to learn it. It is my favorate of all the other styles I've studied. GREAT VIDEOS. Namaste.
Dharmic Creations that’s a tricky question lol. My opinion on flow is based off of principle, not technique. So it’s very particular to the goal in mind and the situation at hand. It’ll probably seem like I’m not answering your question but, it depends on so many other things as well like your preference, instinct, skill attribute, physical attribute, etc. At the end of the day as long as you can make sense for your technique, nothing is wrong unless you don’t achieve your goal.
I have a question. Are vine disarms the same as snake disarms? One more thing: Could you please upload a disarm video of right-handed vs left-handed? I have never watched this on any FMA channel.
Giovanni Cueva vine, wrap, snake.. all the same! And that is an interesting point - it may make it to a video. But it’s more logic than it is technique. If I’m right handed and you’re left handed, my mechanics on “grappling” or “disarming” will slightly change. So I’m probably not going to look for the disarm anymore and proceed to something else - UNLESS I can effectively switch my weapon to my left hand. There are a few disarms that would work without switching, but not my preference in doing.
