Quick note... use teflon thread sealant when putting the new switch in. The red substance on the threads out of the box is a thread lubricant; you still need to use sealant. A leak at that spot on the back of the engine is an annoying pain in the arse.
my 1999 astro van has 12 1/2 pounds oil pressure when it is warmed up sitting still. i put seafoam in and drove it maybe 50 miles with whole can of seafoam in it the filter was heavy when i removed it still same readings. i used a oil pressure test kit and that 12 1/2 pounds shows 10 pounds after warming up
I also used a 3/8" stubby ratchet (4") long. I crawled into engine compartment, put my hand/arm to the back, unplugged electrical wire. Removed sensor, installed new one. I did NOT take anything apart. BTW I am 74 years young...
Am I missing something? It didn't look like the switch fixed the problem. The pressure still dropped when you took your foot off the throttle. My engine is doing the very same thing. If this is not the fix do you have any more ideas on what it could be?
So guys I'm having the exact same issue with my 5.7 c1500 I've researched there's a filter under that switch that gums up any body try locating that filter? This is my next move because now I have a tapping in a rockers that's not dumping oils like the rest???
Great video! I laughed for 10 minutes with the kerosene on electric connectors trick 😂 please for the love of God use electronic cleaner spray ... It's just safer and less chance of the Chevy catching fire 🔥 afterwards 🤣 Great video though and thank you for your time
My 2000 Blazer 2dr Ls is having low oil pressure has about 171k just did oil change and has 33miles on it and ima replace the oil sensor soon, i did run seafoam in oil for 150 miles before oil change but didint do anything but also I notice it only dropped when I come to a complete stop and whenever it’s hot asf like today 93 degrees Killeen tx…I’ve got a 2002 S10 3dr 2.2L with 186k and it’s oil pressure like 60psi+ cold but I’ve noticed with a fram filter it’s lower
I have same problem when mine gets hot or after drive for like 30 miles the pressure oil drops to 23 pounds when driving is almost 60 pounds i been thinking is probably the oil pump i have a 98 s10
Seafom does not recommend "dumping the whole thing in there for half an hour at idle. They specifically recommend 1 oz of Seafoam per quart of engine oil for 150 to 450 Kilometers (100 mile to 300 mile) so that their product can actually work. Dumping in 3 times as much at idle only only lowers oil viscosity and does not allow the product time to work
I have the same issue on a 93 k1500 and the sender did not fix my issue. My needle drops really fast like yours at idle. Could it be the dash gauge itself? I had to pull my distributor to get mine out. What a pain!
I have the same usually in chevy astro 1996 ( the intake manifold gasket fail and the coolant water got inside the engine) I’ve changed the oil twice, but the issue remains. I’ll try to flush the system, maybe it would solve it.
There is a filter under the oil pressure sensor that did not get changed! They are a bitch to get out. But those get gummed up and will cause the issue!
