Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RU-vid channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Discovered your channel this year after getting back into golf (played when I was younger, 47 now) and have to say all your video's have been an enormous help. Started the year with scores of 102 and 104, my last two rounds have been 91 with plenty of shots left out on the course! The second tip about lining the shot up is one of the best. I couldn't believe how far right my feet were aiming before I checked this. Thanks again for all the help and keep up the good work ⛳👍😁

You do a great job of breaking things down without getting over technical. You seriously helped me go from shooting in the hundreds at the beginning of the season to shooting int the high 80s pretty consistently. My goal is to turn that high 80s into low 80s next year (maybe even some 70s lol)

Great video Rick, so simple yet so good. I once played in Canadian Tour pro-am and for the first few holes my pal, who thought he was being helpful, kept telling his pro partner about all the trouble spots on the course. Eventually the pro said “don’t tell me where not to hit it, I just need to know where to hit it” All three tips are equally valuable but the first is really interesting. I play with guys who just can’t understand that a par three can play as much as three clubs differently depending on the conditions “I always hit 7 iron here, there’s no way I’m hitting 5”, and then they are surprised when it comes up 30 yards short.

Brilliant advice that I shall take to the course on Sunday. Picking an aim point and bringing it back close to the ball, and visualising the shot I want to take, not remembering the shot I usually make. Thanks Rick.

Great video...I employed different strategies for my level of golf. I used to play for 7 on every hole, that got me to around 115. Then 6 on every hole, got me in to the low 100's. Then 5 on every hole that got me through the 90's pretty quickly. Now I play for 4 on every hole and I find I get very few doubles or worse and consistant 1-6 over par.

I love this video! After watching all your videos I have a better understanding of the game of golf. now taking a note from Lee Westwood video I need to label yardages on my irons. I’ve been golfing using feeling, like this feels like a nine iron this feels like an eight iron this feels like a hard wedge, that’s not working anymore. Thank you for any others great RU-vid video!🏌🏼🍺

Another great video. I am an enormous purveyor of visualising the positive shot for tee shots (and putting in particular too). I think when sky introduced the shot-tracer on TV coverage, it made many people do that same thing virtually in their mind, me included. The aiming reference is also key, I often talk to my playing group about the line intended and am lucky enough to hit it vaguely in that direction most of the time. At 51 with less rotation than most due to various ailments accumulated over the years, I just wish I could find more yardage with the driver !

Great video, specially the third advice. Something to engage that third advice, that's helping me to improve my game (I've just broke 100 once, and now I came back after 5 years of no playing, but building confidence to make it happen before the end of this year): Resume that visualization in just one simple phrase, in the "key" of what you need, and make it your "motto". In my case, I'm working hard building up my tempo, looking for a "easy looking" and "slow motion" swing. I've learnt if I go further with my elbows turn, everything goes out of control... What's the motto I'm using to build my tempo? "Tirito" ("little shot" in spanish), resuming I'm looking for that easy takeout, up to my right foot, that I play in chips or putts. Golf is a harsh game if we invade our minds in negative thoughts.

On the issue of using the right club, once I worked that out using a launch monitor, I wrote using a texta (sharpie) the yardage on the toe of each club in a spot visible when the club is in my bag. I use a range finder to get my distances, then its a simple task of looking at the numbers starring at me and bingo...I select the right club every time. On the short irons I go a step further by writing on the hosel how far I hit half and full shots ie H56 F72...it has made the job of selecting both the club and the shot strength so much easier. Anyway, for what it's worth, it works for me.

I just wanna say Thank You Mr Shiels for your videos. My game has improved from my first match in February being a 120 all the way down to my best match being an 84 a few weeks ago. My papaw passed away in 2004 and I stopped playing. But this year my brother in law and I started play Sunday matches every Sunday since February, I’ve only beat him once. He’s a pretty good golfer. I’ve relearned what Pawpaw taught by watching.. I can’t damn wait til I hit par for a course... You have much love from North Georgia USA 🇺🇸
