I was given a Hoya Kerrii 6 years ago as a single leaf - I watered it often and after 4 years sprung up and now has over a dozen leaves. I've been given another two years ago and yet to see it grow but I bet it will. thanks for the video - very helpful
I have a Hoya Kerrii that is probably 7 years old. This is the first year that it bloomed! Happy about that. After watching your video I took a leap of faith and cut off two very long vines with several double leaf joints. I am going to try all 3 of your methods. Thanks for this video.
So for anyone wanting an update I scrolled back to Feb 2020 on her Instagram and this is the only update I found from her: “the mother plant is starting to grow new leaves. The propagations with stems all have been sold, but I assume they're doing well since I haven't gotten any messages to the contrary (;) the single leaf cutting also rooted.”

Good evening I also plant a Hoya Kerri leave with a piece of stem and node and it make roots 1 I’ve plant in Perlite 2 the other leaves I put in water 3 Plant one in peat moss but the one in perlite no roots as we talk So I’m waiting to see what happen Thank you for your videos 🎉
I have a hoya kerrii which is same size as your mother plant. Was planning on propagating from it as its growing well. I am curious how your mother plant is doing and how long did it take for it to recover after you took cutting. Thanks!
I have a little node with a small root already from someone - should I put it in soil and just let it start growing. Or still keep it moist in moss or a ziplock bag??
ooh that's a hard question to answer coz i have rotted nodes in every medium. If it has roots i would do the perlite method or leca if you have it, but it's the same process, or just do direct soil but do not put in ziploc bag. it will take longer with direct soil but less chances of rot, at least in my experience, and i think giving it more humidity will just increase the chances of rotting if it's just a node.
I read somewhere that hoyas prefer to be root bound. Have you found that to be true? I have a hoya australis and i put it in a bigger pot but it started growing slower so i moved it back into a small one and its doing great!
I've a single leaf Hoya kerrii, at my front sun facing room.. So it gets bright light from 8-6 (No direct sunlight), i water it whenever it's top soil is dried out.. Still kept in the sponge and soils that came as it is.. Bit scared if i tried removing the sponge it might damage the plant... Everything was goin pretty well for 3-4 months, but now dark black spots are appearing on the back side of the hoya kerri, dark kinda like the type when u leave a marker on a paper and it makes a spot type... What went wrong? Any idea?
My Hoya Kerri has those black spots as well, and it's likely coz it's getting too much light, so those black spots are leaf burn. Since you're not overwatering, your Hoya should be fine in it's current medium. I haven't repotted my Hoya Kerri mother plant or any of my hoyas really coz hoyas don't like getting their root system disturbed so repotting might just do more harm than good.
I think so but I never tried. Tbh I have poor luck with water propagations in general so I prefer the methods I mentioned here. With these methods I had significant root growth within a month and they were ready for potting.
It should be fine, just keep the moss moist esp at the beginning, tho TBH the only time I move from water to moss is when there's some root growth already. Usually I would switch from moss to water when the moss is not working out for the cuttings
Yes! The updated video links are in description if you want to watch but all of them did root and were sold off, except for the single leaf cutting that I still have and the mother plant grew back new leaves too
I got my single leaf Kerrii from Costa plants. They do have roots.... I'm waiting on it to grow. I understand that the single leaf will eventually die, but by then the plant should have a stem and leaves. If you put an LED grow light over top the plant it should produce nodes that are closer together .
From what I know single leaf cuttings rarely turn into plants, they need to be propagated with the petiole attached to part of the stem, but doesn't hurt to try!
They propagated well within a month. I sold all propagations, all I have left is the mother plant and the single leaf cutting, which also rooted but did not grow new leaves
@@MyWastelessLife thats great! I am trying it myself with a hoya kerii. It has been 5 days. Hope it works for me too. The soil started to grow molds though. I scooped them out. What do you think i am doing wrong?
Soon! Planning to shoot the repotting video next week. But I do post updates on my IG, the roots have grown fully in all four cuttings, including the one that's just single leaf. 💚
I notice black spots under my new leaves when they are growing and they are tender but once they mature they toughen up and the black dots goes away. All my new leaves are the same. I keep my plant in the same spot (indirect sun). Anyone else notice the same?
Not sure why I found this video absolutely brutal to watch. You didn't necessarily do anything wrong it's just me. I have a huge Hoya Kerrii that's almost 30 yrs. Did you know that if you water a Hoya about an hour before you start cutting it will bleed little or no sap at all?
WOW, TOO MUCH For $220. At my neighborhood nursery ,paid 59.99 for a 6inch pot long stem tree with maybe 12 leaves or more. It was expenseive for me already but I wanted It badly. Hahaha.
Thanks for the feedback! I get comments that I talk too fast too, so bear with me while I find a happy medium, but I appreciate you watching and giving honest feedbacks, that will help me improve my videos in the future 💚
Great ! I admire your creativeness .I propagated 4 leaves separate containers but after started yellowing then ,did nothing. I felt somewhat bad to look at you cutting precious heart leaves. Good luck and hope for rhe best. Excited to know results. Thanks a lot.
