Red Light Distortion is one of the best tools I have. I used it all mostly on vocals and bass but, I've used it on lots of other things too. In my opinion it reacts different every way I've used it depending on If it's an insert, bus, or on a copied track. There are SO many ways to use it. If I'm listen to a mix and it feels like it's missing something, it's one of the first things I grab.
I absolutely love red light distortion‼️ I use it more than any 3rd party distortion plugin, like Sound Toys Decapitator or Kyle Beats Spaz plugin 🔥🔥🙂👍
I do wish they had a significantly wider frequency band and better gain compensation. The 16k LPF cutoff is pretty rough and stops me from using this plug-in very often, and the gain controls in this are just silly. It does sound nice for the thing it does, though.
@@MusicProductionChannel-lz3jy I don’t know any free ones offhand. A quick Google search would suggest GSat+ is good, as well as MSaturator. For paid ones, FabFilter Saturn 2 is amazing.
Joe recorded a video for Home Studio Corner in 2020 where he discussed Mixing Bass and Guitars. In the Bass section (starts ~ 5:10) he introduces copying the bass track and adding Red Light Distortion to that second track. Then you blend the two bass tracks. I've used this technique multiple times since I've seen the original video and it's helped a lot. BTW I'm a Folk / Americana guy so I'm not looking for a sound with big effects - but the idea that the bass sits better in the mix definitely is good for my songs. Here's that video (Red Light Distortion starts ~13:00): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V_EEw0H5_zg.html
I too love it as a tone box . I only wish it had a automatic gain compensation that had options as to " accurate gain compensation ' and " perceived gain compensation " . That would be awesome .. Some over sampling options and a few extra distortion types and it would arguably be one of the best available .
So, I heard it here too, when I use the blend knob on bass or even guitar. The low end gets thin, I don't know it it's affecting the phase, but my ears tell me I just lost something important. I've been using this plugin this way for the last year. On a whole lot of different stuff.
I'll still love you the same, Joe. lol Studio One has always had great plugins to me. As also an EDM creator, I used to wish it had a little more synth oomph, but tbh I don't mind Studio One leaning more heavily into the recording artist since people are just going to buy Serum and Phaseplant anyway lol... (I don't either >_> )
= Am trying to output all the instruments tracks from the Mixer of EZDRUMMER 3 to my Studio one 6. = I was assigning each single instrument of EZDRUMMER 3 to an output channel in studio one 6 ..from 1/2..3/4 …5/6..until 31/32 than then I can assign to no more channels in studio one 6 because studio one 6 has only 16 channels for outputs.. === so my Question how can I add more channels in studio one 6 that way I can assign all the instruments of my mixer of EZDRUMMER 3 ? I really like your channel. Good job ..love and peace ✌️
The value of Distortion on bass and drums is easily seen in the context of the mix where it makes the tracks pop. SHHHHHH don't tell the audiophiles that their 0.000001%THD amplifiers are being used to play back the sounds of consoles and added distortion.....LOL
