Dumbo Rats were specifically bred to be cuter than normal rats. That's quite the difficult feat, but the point was to have a breed that people used to the centuries of anti-rat propaganda could look at and instantly love as well.
I had a rat years ago ratty she had 18 babies this year my rat had 5 babies possible her sister pregnant I was told by vets she not pregnant just fat but I knew I saw the signs and IAM no vet to the baby's arrived we keeping them Al my boyfriend family says we have to sell them 😢
Lol, I once had both a litter of 12 AND a litter of 15... rescues from a hoarding situation. It's funny now but it wasn't then. Mamas arrived "with rat." 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀 🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁
As a rat owner I'm aware of their state right now Life is an amazing thing We might consider their life short But, it's all the time they need I always think of it the way that They can have us their entire life Make them happy, make them healthy And make them feel loved Mostly we're for them We're going to live without them I'm just trying to make them as happy as I can It's though to let them go...
18! That's a big litter. I ended up with a Dumbo female that we didn't know was pregnant and had an accidental litter. She was only maybe 2 months old at the time and had 11! Which was surprising to me. I currently have a top eared female I am going to breed with my oldest male.
My record is 16 Rat having babies when 2 months old isn't that bad I once encountered a rat having babies around 1 month That was a horror Best age is from 4 months on They must have first babies up to a year Later they can have problems if they didn't have babies before And my least baby rich litter was like... 1 baby? Idk how many there was I guess she's just not fertile 4 confirmed for other mother She was small tho
I KNOW, IT HURTS! Especially because of all the oppression they go through due of us giants. :( Such a shame because they're really such peaceful beings.
@@helpthem6505I love rats but I wouldn't call them peaceful. They fight to the death with each other in the wild and the Rat Utopia experiment was disturbing to say the least.
Wish i could have some but my dad hates them so i need my own place before i can buy these lil cute guys and or save them cause I want like a shelter for them.
nigela troisfontaine music it's called bedding and dust isn't gonna hurt them I have 8 rats 5 of them are babies they use cedar bedding :/ bedding won't hurt them
I now have 12 rats .i have 2 sisters age 3 .peter age 4 rattail age 13 months and her 5 babies and her sister claw and the. Dads ravenen claw and griffindor.i was told the boys was girls to i realised my rat pregnant
rats are very smart they’re not at all yucky like right now I have mices strolled out over selves even during the day and I’m trying to contain the situation will be better tomorrow but a lot of them are very sweet just adorable. They come over and cuddle on our slippers. I mean one I’ve seen in the bag was waking up so I get them out of the bed of course and I’m very careful because they’re wild but they’re sweet. I think I’m gonna take them in for their shots. and they’re sweet-looking
Yes it can be thought that way for sure. Soon after this I rehomed my snakes and stopped breeding rats. It makes no sense breeding an animal that is more intelligent to be fed to a less intelligent animal for my pleasure.
I’m terrified to watch bc I’m hoping it’s not one of those snake feeding videos. They are so so cute and j I can’t believe RU-vid has abundant amount of videos of ppl feeding new born (before they open their eyes yet) and ones this size mostly it begins with person saying “oh look at this fuzzy little guy he just finished weaning off his mom) than I’m thinking aww too adorable, then I see this disgusting 🤮 slithering snake in a tank and little guy gets dropped in ohhhh nooooo my heart drops I have full on panic attack , seriously these ppl are sadists (they gotta be) and RU-vid NREDS to get that crap off there is specifically a report button for that and obviously not enough ppl are reporting bc there’s ton of footage if these mammal torturing sadist on there 😔 😢
OH lord that little white one beside the beige mix is beyond cute. They’re so content and peaceful eating their food all on their own. I wish I could take a few mine are 3.5 yrs old already paid over $800 for 2 surgeries one got mammary tumour and I couldn’t watch it grow bigger, she’s fine now , but her sis was plagued with these tumours I thought oh this one’s just a fatty tumour lipoma bc it wasn’t growing it’s on side of her trunk gelly like and encapsulated however there’s one near armpit which was even smaller now 8x it’s size of golf ball almost however one near the back isn’t growing so I think she has mammary and lipoma we got mammary taken care of. They’re for their age super active lovable and affectionate and barely slowing down. So yes every dollar I spent on getting the 2tumours removed was worth it. I was overcharged by this vet but senate I live there’s not many especially that do surgery on a “pocket pet” pet rats , I hate it when they call it pocket pet , to me it’s minimizing their extreme intelligence and existence from all other animals. I do believe if we could someoovercome these tumours many of them get ( because of what humans plagued upon them in laboratories and it’s gobs take decades for that genetic trate to be eliminated from most of the pet rats ( kind of lines radioactive effect in Chernobyl etc) . Having good breaders will help choosing healthiest of the rat and only breeding them for example there are some living up to 6-7 yrs if we started choosing those genes but we only picked up on that. Mine are even up there at 3.5 yrs . I’m hoping I have come more years with my girls .
I had a cat who had a tumor the vet wanted to put him down. I have him cbd oil and he lived for another four years happy and content. Wonder if implecating cbd oil in rats food would make any difference
It's ok to keep the babies in a tank when they are still nursing, most breeders do this. Most people even those with rats mistakenly think rats urine puts of ammonia which is toxic to rats. In reality rats are one of the few rodents whose urine doesn't put off ammonia and they will be fine. The reason you shouldn't keep rats in tanks is because there is not enough room for them.
@@outspokengenius thanks for educating me a little about this! It’s not only because it’s not enough space but rats are very prone to respiratory issues so being housed in a tank can’t provide proper ventilation as rats need at least 3 full walls with full ventilation and even if their urine doesn’t cause illness tanks still cause respiratory infections because of the bad ventilation :)
@@outspokengenius Yes, I have 2 pet rats. They are very prone to respiratory infections, which is why tanks are not good, they prevent good ventilation! Also, even though rats are not put off by ammonia doesn't mean it's ok. I bet you're type of person who would use fleece bedding for rats 😅
