Born on the 7th of July. This week has shown a lot of change. Their chest feathers are more pronounced and can help determine their gender. Note: Only works w/ feather-sexed quails.
Dotted chests mean they're female and orange/copper-colored chests indicate they're male. Usually, during the first 2 weeks, most of them have dotted chests so it's hard to tell whether they're a boy or girl in that time period.
No crowing from the boys yet. They are making more chirping noises when they're alert, curious, or happy.
They're eating and drinking a lot more but not as often as chicks. They're producing a lot of manure so it's best to get ahead of that and provide fresh bedding.
