The Switch lite seems to be the perfect console for people who don't own a regular switch yet and might not have access to a screen/ TV to play docked anyways.
That's exactly my case : I am a pc gamer and dont have a tv. I always liked handheld consoles, but thé original switch handheld was too big to be really confortable for girl hands :) So now I may buy the lite for Animal Crossing :)
I only use my switch lite for personal use and besides I dont’t have my own tv, I actually really like the size of the lite however I have never tried the regular switch in handheld.
@@Noblepizza right but this entire video is about being a demographic that the switch lite was not meant to satisfy. You're not really supposed to have two switches.
@@isaacsmith2997 You can have for the ultimate experience...better portable gaming with also docked mode possible...however I'll rather sell my OG one...just didn't cause of life's drifting issue.
@@isaacsmith2997 who made u the ruler of the switch world , if someone wants to switches then why are u saying that we it suppose to have it, it's our money let them do what we want with it , and just FYI I have two and it's cus I bought one before the lite came out, but I will say that some games look far better docked then portable. the switch lite feels better as far as comfort. I agree with u that two isn't needed , but I sold a bunch of old games I want using and got my lite for $50 bucks of my own money I'm happy
@@Planetpaperboy I feel like this video is evidence that Nintendo did not intend for people to own two systems. If you want two that's fine, but it isn't the purpose of the lite to be a 'secondary switch'.
I like the Switch lite simply because I'm accustomed to playing handheld games. Sure I've played on consoles, but handheld has always been more comfortable for me.
got the switch lite. i hardcore game on my pc. obviously all the games im getting are pokemon or animal crossing things that are relaxing and onto the go. ive had the switch lite very nice. doesnt leave my house so far with it so hopefully people who have the same perspective and predicament helps with ur decision
Bob: I'm already experiencing drifting on my switch Lite, I have no idea why. Must be Nintendo's fault Also Bob: *aggressively shoves switch Lite into dock several times, directly hitting the joysticks*
I had a switch lite for 2.5 weeks and I take care of my stuff. I got joy con drift after about 20hrs of play. It got worse the last 3 days I owned it. I decided to take it back and just dish out the extra for a normal switch. If Nintendo were to release a switch lite with upgraded joy cons I would deff go for it
The kids saying there’s drift must not understand that it takes 8-9 months to even start getting some type of drift, and if it does happen all you need to do is clean the analog sticks. There’s kits for it on amazon for hella cheap if your interested.
Honestly I think this console is literally for those who don't have a switch already. it kind of makes no sense to have a switch to just leave it at home.
It does, I would never be able to bring that bigass console outside. I even worried about bringing my ds out with me when I was younger. A normal switch would never fit in a normal-sized bag, it's too inconvenient and bulky. However, I would CONSIDER to bring with me my switch lite... but would probably just play at home.
sarasthoughts ugh I take my switch everywhere I go and I’m in college have no issue with bulky ness the literal point of a switch is to take it with you.
@@vurshawn1358 exactly never had any problems taking the OG switch anywhere have no plans to get a switch lite at all the switch was literally made to be a home and portable console, never heard people saying the switch was hard to take with them much until the switch lite was announced where it seemed like alot of people turned on the OG switch lol
Watching Bob Wulff has literally changed my life. I would waste precious time watching other guys on youtube but since watching Bob I'm much sharper, I'm more focused, more committed and my libido has increased immensely. Bob Wulff is the truth.
Gerson Melendez OMG!!! You took the words right out of my mouth bro. Leave it to someone like Randomonium to try and take something positive and respond like a negative ass. People like that are just laughable.🤣🤣
That manual brightness setting is actually a selling point for me. My devices are always set to the dimmest possible setting because that white light can trigger pretty violent migraines for me. Even just a few seconds of exposure have been enough to land me in pain for days. Given my light sensitivity I’m not usually anywhere I’d need to turn up the brightness, if I am I have huge sunglasses on and staring at a screen isn’t even possible. I know I’m the minority here, but this is a minor feature that will mean a lot to those that actually need it. 🤷🏻♀️
wow these first-world problems are giving me a headache. while i'm out here saving up for the lite because it's much cheaper than the regular one, yall are having them as you 'secondary' console???? im crying
@@alfvn0 "just 100$ more" you know that everyone has different income right? Also, dollar can be expensive in other countries, not at all worth it in that case
@Thatshow ED You also have to keep in mind a lot of people have more urgent uses of their money i.e. tuition for school, rent, vehicle payments, ect. I would love a switch but I don't have the disposable income to warrant buying one, even though it isn't THAT expensive.
I'm very happy with my switch lite. I didn't see any point in getting the regular switch because my home tv setup is shit. To play any console games with that tv I have to sit like 3 feet in front of it to see anything because its small and outdated. Plus, I really do prefer to play handheld in general, because if im gonna play games I wanna do so while on the toilet, on the go, or lounging on my bed. I prefer the simplicity of just having a handheld device. I don't care about extra features, or sharing, just want to play my damn games. The switch is also presumably better for handheld comfort, though I'm still waiting for my grip case to come in since I did get some cramping while playing Smash. Lower price was also great selling point. Basically, the switch lite is for cheap lazy introverts like me who prefer comfort and simplicity over versatility or sharing.
@@KrazyKaoMar There's a few games that aren't compatible with the switch lite. Only a few and they weren't games I was interested in anyway. Its a matter of joy-con dependent games just being really impractible. But even then, you can technically connect a pair of joy-cons to the switch lite and play the the game anyway but its gonna ruin the gaming experience (might be tolerable if you rig a tv setup to record your screen through a camera, but in that case why did you even get a lite?) But who knows, maybe someday nintendo might release something incompatible with the switch lite that actually intrests me. And then I can rightfully be mad at myself. Or just rig it, lol.
@@mysteriontheguardianangel8859 you have drift issues with both of them yeah the regular one you can buy a new joycon or you can just buy a replacement joystick, yeah you don't have the option to buy a new joycon but it's really not that hard to replace to joystick in the lite. It's harder to replace it in a joycon than it is the lite, and the joystick are cheaper than buying a joycon.
I am on my way through Witcher 3 on my Switch Lite. Switch Lite is awesome. Edit: I ended up selling it. The cloud save hassle was stressing me out 😅 And already having s Switch I could dock made it kinda obsolete once I got out of university. The buttons were hella nice though. The feel of the buttons and form factor is the one thing I miss about the Switch Lite.
The system is flawed, eventually the joysticks will wear and tear. The 3DS doesn't have this issue. It's much easier to replace the joycon on the OG Switch, with the lite, you need to open it up, which will probably cause a multitude of failures.
@@MsZsc Yep, anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn't realize that a majority of people don't have the kind of money to just go out and buy multiple consoles.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I bought the Switch Lite just to have a smaller switch for handheld gaming. But I also primarily used the switch in handheld mode, so the extra comfort is really nice.
I agree with this. Nintendo clearly went for one system for portable and TV gaming, but then broke off of that by releasing a handheld only version, which kind of defeats the original concept. Apparently market research shows that at least a significant amount of users were not quite happy enough with the portability of the original, and thus the Lite was created. Would it have made more sense to do a simultaneous launch of two separate products instead of one, like PS Vita and PS Vita TV to basically serve both purposes individually? Maybe so, but I'm not sure if Vita TV was too succesful, though it might have to do with the touch screen usage in many games. Nintendo could have avoided that at least. Anyway, I own the original Nintendo Switch and I can say for sure that I will not be investing into a separate Switch Lite for handheld gaming, the original works for me just fine. In fact, I do not have perfect vision and in at least Diablo 3 I've noticed that I have a really hard time reading certain blue texts on the Switch screen, so I can only imagine how hard it would be for me from an even smaller screen. Now, if my wife also wanted to own a Switch, that would be a completely different subject, and in that case it would most likely be the Lite version.
For me specifically it replaced my old 3DS. With all the good games coming to Switch it made sense to upgrade to the Switch Lite. I don’t have a regular Switch and I wanted access to all the goods it has to offer.
@@your_average_cultured_dude vita sticks are something else. Those fuckers wobbled a lot after a lot of use but they NEVER drifted and were always very useable. Also they were the perfect size
While a little off topic, I gotta say that the turquoise is still the best colour imo. I do like the yellow, but the grey is a little odd. I hope they do more special editions like the cool Pokémon switch lite too
I don't understand why they didn't just release a whole bunch of colors. It's weird to me that they chose these 3 specific colors. Well... They probably want to save some colors for certain special releases, but still, they could just add some graphics to make them stand out anyways.
That sounds like the biggest headache in the world haha. I’ll just stick with my regular ole switch until they make a seamless process for having a regular and a lite.
why is he reviewing the switch lite as if everyone will be buying this as a secondary console??? dude most of the bad stuff you pointed out are things only like 1% of switch lite users will run into because most people are buying lites to play one or 2 exclusive games and dont wanna pay £300+ for the full package... you made the lite sound a lot worse than you should have and it was a bit unfair, you probably put a few people off buying one with this video cause your telling them about all of these small problems about moving data etc that they won't have any problems with because the lite will be their main switch.
"why is he reviewing the switch lite as if everyone will be buying this as a secondary console" and "most people are buying lites to play one or 2 exclusive games and dont wanna pay £300+ for the full package" are controdicting statements
I got one and then my left joystick started drifting three weeks later. However I just blew some air on it and then it got fixed. Apparantly most of the drifting is caused by dirt getting were it shouldnt. You can also find replacements for 10 bucks. Changing the joystick might be a bit of a pain but anyone can do it.
yep.. that's my main concern too.. we can always purchase new joycon to replace the broken drift controller & continue playing, but you cant do that with lite version. lite version if controller spoil, you gotta send the whole device back for warranty fix.
Uchijima yes you can, Press and hold down the HOME Button for at least one second to open the Quick Settings Menu. Enable/disable Auto-Brightness, or manually adjust the screen brightness by sliding the brightness level bar.
I got a Switch Lite, my first Nintendo console since the original 3DS, and I absolutely love it! It feels comfortable, video quality is good, the games are super fun, especially the classic NES and SNES games you get for free with Switch Online. If you want a handheld with good triple A titles it's for you, I originally just got mine for Animal Crossing, Breath of the Wild, and Pokemon Sword but I'm gladly going to keep using Switch online and playing my Switch.
The switch lite sounds interesting but personally if I have my switch already I really don’t want to pay 200 dollars for another switch but that's just my opinion
Tevya Smolka defeats the purpose of the OG Switch’s idea of docking it and undocking huh? I think the lite as convenient if u have kids and don’t want ur kid on the main switch :)
I’ve just bought a switch lite because literally every switch is sold out because of coronavirus atm. I plan on getting the regular switch later on to play party games with everyone else in the household
i was in the same spot. had been on the fence about getting a switch, but since i couldnt do much anyway figured screw it but they were sold out or $500+ n got the lite instead. might get the full one after things settle down again for smash bros n bigger games like that.
I have yet to encounter an auto-brightness feature that is more useful than annoying. It usually goes way too bright or way too dark for my comfort. I prefer to switch it off, set it once manually when I start using a device, and then have a blissfully consistent backlight until the light conditions change. :)
Bob, as of a few weeks ago, there is an option in settings under data management where you can now download your save files automatically on both systems. No more stressing.
I really think that if I end up buying a Switch Lite, its going to be a special one. Like if they have an animal crossing one that comes out with the game.
Thanks for the review! I'm buying a Switch Lite soon mostly for being able to trade Pokémon between my games. I almost exclusively play handheld, and the Lite looks like a dream to me. Just a little sad that Sword and Shield isn't supported for cloud saving 😞
in my mind, all of these extra little steps add up to enough to eliminate any convenience the Switch Lite claims to offer - unless, of course, the Switch Lite is your primary console
I wanted a Switch since release but never made it. The Switch lite drew me in and after research I went with a used Mint Switch traded my PS3 collection for it and couldn't be happier.
I bought the Switch Lite cause i already have a PS4 Pro connected to my TV so i don't need docked mode and also the lite is more portable and much easier to carry, also fits in your pocket unlike the original Switch.
I tried using a lite at Best buy. Instantly hurt my hand trying to use the d pad. No handhelds use to hurt when I was a kid. Darn my stupid adult hands.
@@MsZsc You don't have to play many hours for the switch lite to be uncomfortable. If I use it for many hours one day, I feel like the next one I start with hand cramps straight away, and my hands aren't even that big.
just bought one yesterday. prepping myself and making this my pokemon switch console. I'm excited. switch lite feels amazing and so far sessions on this console seemed to last longer than my regular switch.
Another niche of people who want a switch lite: couples who went half and half on a regular switch but one can’t use it to watch Hulu on the tv while the other plays games. Or one can’t use it to watch tv while the other takes it out to play. Now instead of buying a whole other switch I can just get a switch lite
The only reason I’m considering a switch lite is because my sister has a normal switch, and if I want to use it on a tv I can just borrow her switch. I am still thinking about getting the animal crossing switch though, although I technically don’t need it.
I like snapping the screen of my Switch into one of those hands free adjustable holders that go around your neck so I can lay down and adjust the screen right in front of my face and keep my arms under the blanket holding the joycons. Best way to play at night before bed.
I have the same problems. True, as a portable only device, the Switch Lite is super good. The only thing that bothers me is the cloud save data which is really important. A perfect example I can give is Animal Crossing. I have both a regular switch and a switch light and I thought I would share the same save file with cloud, turn out that game doesn’t have a cloud save so now I have 2 different save files with different progression on both and it makes me not want to play the game at all. Besides that, is not a bad idea to have only the switch lite. It is a bad idea to own both switches.
i've already had to exchange my switch lite at walmart for a new one after 7 days because of joy-con drift. but atleast i got the pleasure of opening up another switch lite. lets hope i can have this one longer then 7 days before it drifts again. nintendo is only hurting themselfs at this rate. they can have the broken lite that i had and ill freely take a new one. :)
the whole owning two consoles dilemma seems like a stupid thing to spend so much time talking about, i bet less than 1% of people who have a switch have both, the regular switch is already so portable that the other one isn't really worth the purchase, at 4:30 when you wanted to run out the door and change switches the ENTIRE POINT OF THE REGULAR SWITCH IS TO DO THAT, slide the joy-cons on and leave!?
I owned a switch but gave it to my wife since we're both big on handhelds. I sent my Joy cons in to get replaced for free and gave my wife my Switch. I wanted the Lite since I mostly played undocked anyways, I bought the yellow one 2 days ago.
Easy way to fix joycon drift (myb it'll come back tho but judt repeat this again): 1. Get a straw 2. Lift the little cap below the joystick 3. Blow in the straw (just be carefull not to spit while blowing) and do that on all the sides and do it until you see the stick isn't drifting anymore 4. Calibrate the stick in the settings just in case (not really important to do) Hope this helped, fixed my drift
0:25 I work hard labor. I've had that knife for several years and used it for hard labor. It's the CRKT - M16 and it's a great knife. Well worth the money. I've had to sharpen it a couple times, but like I said earlier. It's been used heavily and never let me down. Also the blade can get super sharp.
I loved the switch lite at first. Then I tried playing smm2 with the dpad and it gave me such a cramp in my thumb. I had to return it and get the updated original switch and compared to my original switch the battery is very noticeably better.
@@therunawaykid6523 thanks man. It was a bummer. My buddy gave me it as a bday present along with 3 games and a 128gb card plus a zelda carrying case. I then bought 3 more games and another 128 gb card, and they stole all of it. Like, i almost dont want to get another switch because now im going to remember what i had that i no lomger want
I've had my lite for a month now, and I like it a lot. I don't have a TV, so being able to save $100 on a feature I can't use was a godsend. One quirk I noticed, though, is that there's still an Ethernet option under internet settings. Guess they forgot to touch ALL their bases
As someone who plays pc 90% of the time and really just want a Nintendo device for exclusive and for something to play when im waiting on something in a game or away from home the lite really is a godsend I really could not Care for docking mode so to someone like me the lite is really just saving a bunch of money Though i do worry if the screen is gonna be too small
My experience: I’m 40, been gaming since the NES. Not much free time to play video games anymore but I bought a Switch Lite. Loved Zelda Breath of the Wild! Epic game. Finished it and started looking for adult games to play. Didn’t find anything. Tried Super Mario Odyssey. Too kiddie for me. Sold my Switch Lite on eBay. The end.
The Witcher 3, Civilization VI, Diablo 3, Dark Souls, Farming Simulator. Hollow Knight, Darkest Dungeon. But I'm sort of in the same boat. Been a PC gamer for 3 decades now. I play a lot of in depth RPGs and simulations. I'm growing an expansive Steam library of indies now, such as Hollow Knight and Darkest Dungeon. I'll probably never play them on PC because I'm too busy with other more "serious" games. The Switch Lite might be perfect for me.
I'll probably wait till they release more color selections to get myself one. Or, I'll just wait till they eventually release a more powerful Switch to compete with the PS5 and next gen Xbox.
If anything, I'd love to have some sort of Bluetooth connectivity for making the leap to this console. I can forgive the low res, inferior screen for the modern day, the lack of rumble, and perhaps even joycon drift. but Bluetooth? come on. I want it, but some small additions could make it so much better.
The switch lite is also a dream for travelling. If you’re often on the go, you can still play. This was my primary reason for getting the lite over the regular.
I’m a truck driver, and I love to game as well on my free time, the thing is that I kinda don’t like to carry around my ps4 allover the place with a small tv... sometimes I don’t even play it because I feel to lazy to take it out of the bag and stuff so, I think I might get this lite switch
