I have the Leg UP landing gear made in the US. It works well for backing up the bike into a parking space or backing out. It works to balance the bike at a stop. It is great at a gas station moving the bike around. You must always put your feet down and it will help you balance the bike. It does not like large camber angles. It works at speeds below 6mph or 10kph. You can not lower the wheel about that speed and they will raise above that speed. You push the button below 10kph down they go. If you are at say 15kph they go down under 10kph. You can bring them up with a push of the button after you stop or wait till you reach 10kph and they will go up on their own. I push the button and balance the bike as I take off.
Hi John yes this is THE question i have also, the one with Japanese guy i think it does but i am not sure , we keep researching, thanks for stopping by
They do not adjust for off camber stops. If the road is at a bad camber it is not safe to use them. Slight camber the bike will lean and you always put your feet down so you allow that lean. small camber is not a problem. A camber that is to large will allow the bike to fall over.
If you purchase a retracting wheel system, I would make certain that the wheels come down AUTOMATICALLY BEFORE stopping! It sort of defeats the purpose of not having to put your feet down and balancing with yours legs and feet. Thanks for the comparison of the various types available. The only thing I would add is that steering a trike that keeps your 4th wheel becomes hairy because the back wheels push you straight. the trike with it's own solid axle helps create a better stable ride quality.
You do not want them to come down automatedly. Up automatedly yes. You want to put them down manually just before you stop. You also want a system that prevents them from going down at speed. They are low speed devices only.
