I remember letting my son's hair grow like this then cutting it for the first time. I learned a lesson, I should talk to my children first about what I will do regarding them. I had no idea he would freak out about me cutting his hair. When he saw his hair on the floor he started screaming, "momma you cut me, you cut me!" He scared me but then I was confused since I didn't see how I cut him. I told him I don't see where I cut him. My son pointed to the floor, "you cut my hair on the floor." I realized he saw his hair as part of his body like an arm and leg. My heart dropped, OMG, I didn't think to prepare him for his first hair cut. Children see things so differently than how adults see things. It has been over two decades and I have never forgotten that day. He claims he is not affected by it but I still feel anxious about cutting his hair.
That was my thought exactly while watching this. The barber even said that the mother wanted it "gone and to just cut all off asap" or something to that effect, but what about what he wanted? I know even as a young child I was super particular about my hair and my mom used to do the same thing to me, not to mention giving me home permanents and I hated it lol...
Yea I know the feeling personally. I hated my father for a long time for cutting my hair as a kid and it never grew back the same. I liked being a guy with long hair and sometimes styling it into braids or etc. I’m fine with my fro or just curling my hair now, but it definitely scarred me. Always talk to your kids first to see what they would like done to their own hair before just deciding things for them. I’m sure your son will be okay, maybe see if he wants to grow it out again.
@@anima-xii He is fine now, he's an adult. He likes being bald. I only cut his hair when he was a child because family pressuring me to do it. I wish I had stood my ground and not cut it and let him choose what he wanted. I hate how society has decided what is acceptable and try to force things on everyone. I don't know why we can't be ourselves. Women can wear dresses and pants but men can only wear pants. Women have long hair but men must cut their hair. Who decided all this is what I'd like to know. I accept people to be who they want to be as long as it doesn't violate someone else's personal freedom and rights.
Felicia Taylor exact same thing happened to me! My son cried too, he was screaming that his hair was “on the floor” my heart broke. It was pressure from my family too. Funny how these memories stay with us.
Dawg it’s because it’s part of his body and he’s a kid so his third eye is open unless he goes to school. Whenever you cut your long hair you feel like a part of you is gone it’s because it is
@UCvv9rzIulr2M06kZfHUJI0w It's just a suggestion and I am sure he can handle constructive criticism. He hasn't been rude to anyone in the comments so I wouldn't call him a know it all or anything.
SBGProdigySoundz I don’t understand why they don’t wash his hair before going into the shop 🤔 females have to co wash ours all the time if that is not what they are doing to your hair.
Josh: "his momma said that whenever she does his hair he always move and scream" Also Josh: "he was still with me, he did a pretty good job....asides the fact that he was moving" 😂😂 😂
Lol! Still moving. Didn't scream because there was no combing or detangling 😂 why isn't this an option for lil girls? Would have cut it off a long time ago 😩😩😩
He to cute ..you did great and he did very good sitting getting that 1st haircut .Sometimes children really get scared of clippers from the noise and vibration. He was so curious!! Lol. Great job !!!Tku!! 🤗🤗🤗✂
I am enjoying every seconds of this video. You are so patient, he is a really good boy, curious but he is so cute. I am learning a lot from the way you handle small customers and also the technical part. I have not done any fase yet. Too afraid to mess up. 😅
Patience is definitely needed when dealing with children. I have a 3 yr old son who's on the spectrum. I'm really feeling some type of way about getting his hair cut.
Your so patient and understanding that's why he didn't give you a hard time. Kids know! Lil man's face is how you know he was very pleased with the result. He was ready for that hair to go! Lol I've learned so much from your channel great job!!😍😍
He did a good job for a 3 year old. I t bought back memories for me, when both of my sons were young and they enjoyed the barbershop 💈 as well. I enjoy watching your videos.
Sometimes mothers are fascinated with their sons long hair. But people can't determine right away if it's a girl or boy. He looks great the parts will fill in.
What age do you usually recommend first haircuts? My son is black (yes, I'm white) and he just turned two years old about 6 weeks ago. He sits pretty well for us (most of the time) at home when we do his hair every day, so he is very used to us working on his hair. He has very long hair and we've just been trying to keep it healthy and moisturized. We use a detangling conditioner and curling cream (that was recommended by his birth momma) every day, we have satin lined winter hats for him and satin pillow cases, but his car seat does a number on the back of his head.
I hope I can pull this off. I don't want to risk my kids going to the barbershop right now. My oldest son is so picky. He 7 but he has always had a choice of who cuts his hair. If he don't like it , he won't go back. He know how he want his hair cut and how it should look. He does the same for his brother. His dad let me do his edge so my son said I can try. Wish me luck
Oh wow awesome job and Mom you have a handsome little man...My sons also 3yrs n his hair is almost tailbone length I'm so scared to get it cut but it to much to handle... I've been looking at these videos and I'm really considering a cut... any suggestions
I mentioned in the video his mom was going to do it. I usually do it, but it was an unexpected appointment i didn’t know he was getting all is hair cut off and i didn’t have time to.
I don’t have my son yet but I watch these videos because idk if I should wait a few years or do the first cut as soon as possible. I’m a woman and my husband is looking forward to taking his son for his first haircut. I think it’ll be a beautiful moment for both of them. I just don’t know if I’ll cry seeing my baby look like a big boy 😢
Just depends on the parents I have some clients who has grown their kids hair since they were born and i have some that kept their hair up until about 2-4 years old before the first big cut.
