Just love all you have done to the house and yard, happy dance. What a blessing to have a husband that is so talented and healthy. Cant wait to see what you guys do next. We are still working on our house, illness has given me the responsibility to finish the rest of our house seeing as how my husband is not able.
It is absolutely correct to make a space as comfortable as possible with what you have. When newlyweds, my husband had returned from combat and battled PTSD. I made up my mind to decorate on what little we had to make home as welcoming as possible. I've never regretted the decision, and after 55 years of marriage, the best compliment is being told our home is so comfortable. It is a place for friends and family to come and recharge. Well done, young lady!
Hi Terry, thank you for sharing your story. It is so important to have a comfortable cozy home for whatever stage of life you are in. Even when we rented and bought all of our furniture from the secondhand store (we had no extra money at all) it felt great to make our home cozy, warm and welcoming. =) I hope you are doing well.
I'm so happy RU-vid recommended your video!! While I don't have a problem with clutter, I do have a problem with focusing on renovations. Your renovation video motivated me to change what I can until we save up for the dream renovations.
I’m exhausted just watching! You have a beautiful home. How wonderful to have your husband who is talented and motivated. Your mother is amazing. You and Grant should be very proud.
Wow, it’s incredible to see all of these improvements in one video! Doesn’t even seem like the same house! You should feel a huge sense of accomplishment - that’s a lot of renovating in 3 years!
Hi Sandra, Thank you! It really is a lot when I see it all in one video. There were tiny projects that I actually left out too because I didn't have good footage of them.
I love how you include your boys in the work! Also it is really smart to take care of the "foundational" issues, ie plumbing, roof, electrical first. Then you know that your house is safe. I commend you for deciding to not going into debt as you remodel. I look forward to see more changes. I LOVE YOUR MOM!!!!
Shannon, you have made such a lovely home together. I like that you are doing it slowly and thoughtfully. It looks fabulous. You guys make a great team.
Woooooooooooow The amount of hard work is incredible 😮. I mean It. Reno is physically, mentally and financially exhausting! You guys are troopers, doing an amazing job. 🎊 🤗
Thank you! It really is exhausting lol. When we are in the middle of a project I don't notice how hard it is until we are done and I can take a sigh of relief. This Christmas was the first time in this home where I looked around and said wow we don't have a project going for the first time in 3 years.
So fun to see this video!! So much work! Well done! We also did renovations through our whole house without loans. We put in a window, did a kitchen, walls, floors and many other things like doors, celings, baseboards and a patio. We had one of the bathrooms empty for some years too 😆🙈 after taking it down because of a water damage. The walls were totally wet but did not wander to any other rooms. It sounds like we lived similar lifes. 😁 It's so fun to plan the home, and you get very proud of the things you did yourself. We did a lot ourself but hired for other things that we thought were to time consuming. It's good to be realistic, when it comes to how much time and energy you have to put into the renovating. I mean sometimes you need to rest, meet friends or just go on vacations as well.
Shannon, I have been following your channel for several years. I am so amazed at your house's transformation. You and Grant are so talented. I love all your content. I can't wait to see your next videos!
Congratulations Shannon and Grant on all the home renovations. It is a work of devotion to making this house your home. You both have such wonderful skill sets and we're willing to learn new skills. I am sure minimalism has also been a contributing factor that other areas of your home were not disaster areas while working on your home. Also, you have invested alot of personal time, strength and grit into it but rewards will outstrip that. May you and all the family enjoy your home and yard for many, many years to come.
Thank you Sally! Yes without minimalism I really don't think we could have done all this. It sounds silly, but not wasting our money on all kinds of junk has allowed us to save for these projects that will actually add value to our home. Thank you for being here in this community. I hope you are having a nice weekend. =)
Wow! Y'all really have done a huge amount of work in your "free" time. Everything looks so lovely and very well thought out. Quality work and it's good to slow down and take your time on projects. ! It's not easy living in California with housing prices always on the move. I love Southern California though!! Drought resistant plants are the way to go. Your home is beautiful!
Hi Mary, I know it is so expensive to buy a home in CA but if you buy something that needs a lot of work then usually you can get a better price. Also following the market, buy when low. Becoming drought resistant is our latest project =)
What a great video! Just the voice over and NO MUSIC! Yay! TY! You guys have worked so hard on your home and it is beautiful! 1st time viewer and New sub! 🙂
Thank you so much for being here. I do use music sometimes (just a warning lol), but lately I am enjoying talking through everything. I hope you have a wonderful day!
This was one of my favourite videos on your channel - I do also love your minimalism videos, but this one was so much fun to watch. Since I've been following your Renos for 3 years now, it's so nice to see it all come together. you have a beautiful home and it looks so minimal but also cozy! that is a hard thing to do! well done!
Fantastic! You're both so talented. Being able to do most of the renovations and upgrades yourselves must feel so gratifying. I enjoy watching this journey from Iowa. :)
I love your home! I’m definitely striving to be minimal. Your house looks so clean and organized. Sometimes I even get discouraged and don’t want to do easy fixes to make my spaces look better for the time being because it won’t be how I envisioned the final outcome, but I now have a different perspective. Definitely motivation!
Omg!!! The house we just bought a couple of months ago here in Montana has that exact same ugly, plastic white fencing. We’ve hauled some of it to the dump. The rest will go in the spring. This house needs a lot of cosmetic work which we’ll have to do ourselves to save money. Thank you for the inspiration!!!!
Congratulations on your new home. That plastic fence was up for way too long in my opinion, and when I decided to take it down it was so easy! I wish you luck on all your projects. =)
I love what you did and all the why & how along the way. Even though I have watched you for the past 2 years and a little bit it’s great to see the whole house in progress. The bathroom is beautiful now, and everything is so well thought out.
I have been watching from the beginning and watched all the changes but this video really shows the awesome improvements and how you and Grant and the boys have really worked hard to create a warm and welcoming home!
Loved all the changes you have made so far your home looks amazing ❤ I know how hard you have worked as I watch all of your videos. Excited to see what projects 2023 you will be undertaking lol ❤ loved the happy dances 😂🎉
Wow, Shannon, what an amazing job you and your husband have done to the house! I haven't been subscribed to your channel for a long time, so I haven't seen a lot of the work done. You two have put in so much hard work and money. Great job. It looks so much better.
You are SO blessed to have a husband who is handy with these things. We have to hire for every job! Does he have a background in this or did he learn on his own? I would love to learn how to do more DIY. You guys are a great team! Even you painting the cabinets impresses me and gives me hope. Great videos
Hi Kirsty, I am so lucky that Grant is a finish carpenter. I am also the type of person who will learn how to do whatever project needs to be done. I love doing DIY, it's fun to me. We do hire out for plumbing and electric since we want it to be up to code. =)
@Kirsty, my husband is not a handyman. He didn’t grow up with a dad who knows how to do carpentry or work on vehicles. But he’s so willing to learn and figure things out through watching DIY RU-vid videos. Is that something that your husband would like to try to do? Painting a room is something that he can start or build simple shelves.
@@shannontorrens1 That is great!!! Thank you for the inspiration in all your videos. I think what amazes me the most is that you do this with young kids. We homeschool and have 4 (one in college) and its so hard to find the time but I see you doing this with the littles so I'm inspired
@@lovingsunshine3515 Yes we love to watch RU-vid but when it gets down to it we get a little nervous. I think this is the year we will try and see!!!! Thank you so much for the inspiration
Wow, I think I've seen almost all of your videos but to see this all together is amazing. You have done so much and I really like your way of thinking of renovating, money etc. Everything you're fixing is looking so good and modern!
I loved this video!! I’m a long time subscriber, so I’ve seen the projects come to life through the years, but it was fun to see them all recapped in one video. 😊
Love renovations! My hubby and I did that when we were younger and we did all the work. You both did such a wonderful job...takes a creative eye. You did it!
You have a very nice home, it's so comfortable. You've completed many projects in the three years time. I like watching the home improvements for ideas and suggestions. And always fun when "mom" is involved.
I really enjoyed this video. I think we must be of like minds. Stay out of debt. Make things are comfortable and lovely as you reasonably can. I like your voice over style. And I like your mom. Anita
Nice compilation video. Been there done that with fixing up and remodeling little by little. Currently we're trying to fix our front and backyard. I took away as much of the jungle as I could but now I need professional help so doing that little by little. Always look forward to your videos and seeing your mom. In 2021, I moved in with my family and now we're all together in one house so it's a process I hope you and your Family are staying safe and dry with all the wet, windy and wild weather we are having in California
that was great! I just love what you have done to your house....its really fresh and so simple and thats what I like.....I also love following along to watch your progress....so much fun! Great job guys! ♥
Wow, Shannon! I’ve only been following you for a few months, I had no idea what your house was like when you moved in - what an amazing transformation you guys have made! So much work and it is definitely paying off!
I think your kitchen is huge as it is. We live in a NYC apartment 😂. I would put the dinning table in that area by the new door, closer by the kitchen.
