I recently got one for myself for my bday and I think it's very impressive. Mine came RAZOR SHARP out of the box. I anticipated needing to sharpen it up to my standards, but all I did was a quick stroping and I could easily shave with it!
Alright, they are in fact D2 steel and have been for over 2 years now. Anyone who wants to know or questions that fact that a bit over 3 years back, before the companies ownership was taken over by a new individual yes there were some false advertisement of the blade steel. Now as I've previously stated this has been corrected for over 2 years with a new head of production.
And they cleared out the old stock? Luv Them Knives has proven otherwise... he was still finding 8CR knives labeled as D2 after the whole revelation. The real problem is that the new owners bought the old companies name and reputation... a big mistake.
Eafengrow brand is already stepped up in their game with the high end/budget friendly products. Very nice build quality with decent materials. Their original designs spiced up with very good fit and finish. Chinese manufacturing companies improved a lot in the last few years. Way better than some overpriced American/European brands. 🤘
I’ve got one bein shipped to me as I speak!! It’s a b-e-a-utiful, beast 🤩 I got the Green G10 myself and I’m gonna get the EF908 next the blade is immaculate!! 😎
Thanks for another great review which caused me to spend more money but I like the looks and the price was right. 😁 I have ordered more stuff based on your reviews than any other gun and gear channel I follow so thank you. 👍👍
The problem with those super budget knives is that no matter what blade steel you've got, it's not worth much if the heat treatment hasn't been done right.
yea eafengrow is quality without bank breaking imagine you pay 150 bucks for a knife and it chips on u because they rushed the heat treatment and metal mix once in a while few months after using it.... @@alphadawg81
*Warning* LuvThemKnifes has exposed this company at least 7 times lying about what blade steel they use. The video evidence is from 3 years ago on his playlist labeled ( "Batch 28 knife steel tested with surprising results" ). He sent in about 12 knives from various Chinese companies and this very company consistently is lying about their blade steel as advertise😠. 7 out of 7 knives he sent in for testing that this company claim to be D2 was something other than D2. And it wasn't a better blade steel, but worse. Not saying their not telling the truth this time, but their track record is downright terrible. There are definitely some no name, off brand Chinese companies that you may be shocked to find out that they aren't lying about blade steels such as M390 and alike but probably not this company👎. I simply want to expose lying companies for what they are. Other than that, this knife is really nice and l would still pay the asking price if it were found to be 8CR13MoV or something like that👍. But in a way l really don't want to give my money to a sketchy company like them😠.
@@williamster2015 Yes I recently head this also. Now I can be wrong on this, but I think any of the EF knives in the 900 series are newer productions from a new manufacturer and guaranteed to be D2 or the advertised blade metal. However there still are plenty of old stock knives floating around from the previous manufacturer in stores. So basically when you're buying an older model EF knife that isn't a new release there's no way of knowing which manufacturer it was made at. So pretty much any new release supposedly will be the correct blade steel and is guaranteed by EF 👍.
@@flipflat4814 at the numbers these knives are selling in if there are any old stock left the numbers will be low. I will add that D2 isn't the easiest to sharpen. I use Mostly True hard and surgical black Arkansas stones to keep my knives sharp. (I will use diamond stones when reprofiling an edge of removing a chip) if I were to remove to much steel or gain an edge with no effort I'd know something would be off.
@@williamster2015 Good points👍. After hearing about the companies new promises, I might make my first purchase from them. I heard the long version of the story a month or two ago fully explaining what happened and how they corrected it.
I think i must had gotten a 8cr cause i battoned through some 4inch dried pince and the edge warped and if it was d2 at 60 hrc it wouldnt bend itll blow out a big chip. This didnt and the edge retention was garbage. Im sure its not d2 and definitely not hardened to 60-62 rockwell
Apparently the steel is 8cr13mov steel which is a like aus8 steel . Kind of like a higher carbon stainless steel ! Sounded to good to be true but not surprising coming from China . Still a ton of knife for the money . I ordered this one and two others from amazon. They are a lot more on E bay..
Hey, check out Holtzman Gorilla bushcraft survival knife. It’s a bit more pricey, but the quality & feel is worth the extra coins. From the time you open the package you’ll be impressed with this knife. I wound up gifting 1 to both my brothers after I got mine. Definitely the real deal!!

If you are going to post accusations like this, you should at least make sure you know what you are talking about. There were problems in the past, but a quick review of this on Google will tell you that has all changed and has been changed for the past few years. C'mon, know what you are talking about!!
Companies always have a choice in what they do and how they do it. Too bad that so often greed dictates that instead of making the best product at a reasonable price. The concept of value has given way to making the most money possible. But that is a short-sighted way to run a business.
@@donhames5492It wasn't an accusation it was factual because it happened eight different times to one person over a long period of time. Eafengrow had a choice to be honest about what blade steel the customer was buying at a particular price point. However for whatever reason they failed to deliver on their end 🤷. They got called out on it over and over, and the US owner decided to change the ways of his company. If I remember correctly he passed the buck to the Chinese manufacturer and it was their fault not his, imagine that🙄. Go figure he supposedly had nothing to do with it, he was a victim just like the tens of thousands of his customers that thought they were buying a D2 knife blade🤷. I'm pretty confident any of his newer models are what they claim to be 👍, but I'm sure there's still some old stock floating around somewhere that isn't what the buyer thinks it is.
