Way to go Pete, I really like what you do and like how you turn us on to so many gardeners in florida and around the states, and even further. Keep up the good work.
I so want to go up and visit his property, “If we don’t plant the plants we want, we will get the plants we don’t want.” I was joking I got a back tattoo of him to another gardener. He is just one of the pied pipers of growing sub-tropical and tropical plants. He and David the Good are my most valued FL gardeners. He and Jess from Roots and Refuge remind me that store bought food can taste like disappointment for many reasons. Thanks for posting your tour along with the names of the plants Pete can rattle off so super fast sometimes I miss them. TY for sharing.
I wouldn't say you suck.. you just haven't tried and failed enough haha but polk county will grow food well! especially sweet potatoes! best tip is to get from free local mulch from the tree companies!
@@willgrantresults We'll see. I planted a peach tree, a lemon tree, put potatoes in the ground, and I have golden goddess bamboo around the perimeter of the yard.
well.. if it grows naturally in the ground, it should be okay and legal to ingest it in moderation so long as your form of transportation is sneaker powered.
Watching from East Tampa.. I Love that I ran into your video. Starting my winter gardening to ease my mind body and soul!!! Super Excited to start while watching your channel for learning & vibing with you!! Thank you for sharing 💯. Where in Tampa are you located?💻🌿☘️🌽🌰🍅🌼🌻🥑🪴🥔
Wow dude you are really informed. Where did you learn all this? Did you go to school? I'm in Broward and am trying my best here, I'm sure glad I found your channel!
Cool video. You seem very knowledgeable about all those plants. I am getting into plants more and more. I live in Michigan but this spring/summer I am turning my deck into a tropical garden basically. Came here to get ideas. So thanks for the info!
Now I think I understand, the ONLY Starfruit I have tasted is what we get shipped to Kansas, and it was Blah, not worth the expensive cost. Every time I see Pete going to tree farms or on his own there in Florida, everyone acts like they are so delicious! Next time I am in Florida I HAVE to taste a HomeGrown STARFRUIT!!!!
I've never heard of the chanca Piedra but I would love to buy some off of you. I just moved to Florida a week ago. and I do have the history of kidney stones
Dude try VETIVER to avoid erosion on your land. Horse Tail to cleanse your body, Sunchoke Tubers and Superfoods like Amaranth and Quinua.God bless u man for sharing.
Heyyaa! id say just start planting what you can get ahold of and start building that soil and you can always keep adding and taking out.. its your blank canvass! but Mexican sunflowers are great to start building your soil and bananas and moringa are my favorite edibles!
Totally started with container gardening. Now we re growing a lot. My HOA doesn't control my yard, though some do. Containers with lots of drainage holes.
I live more down south in Florida, do you think I can grow things like peaches and pears? Like you do in Tampa. Thank you so much for your video I learned a lot!
This is awesome I am straight across on the east coast would love for my 1 1/2 to look like this right now Im dealing with container gardening, I keep hearing I should only plant ginger in feb is that true? my entire property is lined with mooring bamboo and coconut trees.
that's so awesome man! def check out Pete kanaris from green dreams channel as well to see what's really possible around here. Ive planted ginger all year and been successful. Just get as much wood chips or mulch as you can and start building that soil!
We think a like. People in my neighborhood asked me why I dont pour water on my grass and I have so much weed, which to the keen eye is a treasure to a survival. Awesome job dude. I do not Familiar with the plants you mentioned so anybody can place the list. Chancapiedra is from my native country Peru, where I can buy it, where u get it?
Good evening.. very educational video! Also may I know wich variety of mango. Survived the frost you mentioned? Because I'm considering purchasing a mango wich is cold/freeze tolerant .Thanks in advance
yo wth this is amazing bro i wanna have edible garden like this.... im gonna have edible garden like this... i have edible garden like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yesss mulch/wood chips from local trees! keep building soil by adding biomass carbon to soil, sticks leaves cutting. and star fruit doesn't like wind and seem to do well under near a oak tree if ya have one. if not they still grow great!
I wish I could have a food forest but I don’t have the time or funding to prepare the land for it. Plus I live on my parents/grandparents property so that also plays a roll, I’m trying to start a raised bed garden and it is incredibly hard to find good videos on how to garden, what you should plant together, how to plant such things in different states ect. :/
that's awesome your looking to get started! is really one of the best and most fulfilling things you can do! but you don't need a lot of time or money to start.. we didn't have extra either as we started. you can call local tree service companies to drop off their wood chips and free local mulch and that is the best way to build your soil for free! after that just study the forest areas or wooded areas around you and see what they are doing. you can learn so much from the experts! haha and then just slowly start adding plants as you get them! if you try and add 1 plant a year you'll be amazed what your garden will look like in 1 year! good luck! hope you start!
I know chufa is grown in Spain a lot where it's popular in shakes for its nutty flavor. I wonder if it would grow well here in Florida. Florida tends to get more rain and humidity in general.
what do you do about the ants and fire ants we live in north Florida and we have a woven ground cover vegetable garden and we have lots of ants what do you suggest for us
@@willgrantresults, I really liked the idea of growing LONGEVITY SPINACH . Where can I buy 'LONGEVITY SPINACH ' plant or seeds online or stores? Does it grow from seeds btw?
hmm I honestly don't know what Beaufort scale even is lol I would love to reach more people than just Florida but I just had the great opportunity to showcase what he was doing and we have other videos with him that explain more of the methods.. ill work on some more of it tho this weekend! thanks for watching!
You want insects in your garden, compost pile attracts flys, which attract lizards and tree frogs. Even snails attract fireflies which will eat them by hundreds, my only enemy i fear is slugs. My war with them has never ended, but the flat worms help enough not to be a complete problem
Cool info but Man, I wish you had shown more of the plants he was talking about rather than just showing him talking. I don’t know what half of the things he mentioned look like
I 100% appreciate all the knowledge you're giving me. But seriously and it's hard for me to follow you cuz I feel like you're a hippie you need to be a little more straightforward when it comes to the knowledge. I'm not looking for anything else but to tell me what I can and came to other than that thank you a hundred percent for doing what you do
God has an answer for everything, there's no way this happened by chance or accidental explosion..explosions destroy things, it had to be created by a creator, never forget that
GREAT video!!! But as we saw the video, you spoke about the Starfruit. Starfruit is a great addition to your garden but people that suffer from Kidney problems should NOT eat this fruit. Dialysis patients are prohibited from eating Starfruit. In one of your next videos, please take a moment to mention this. Better safe than sorry!!!!
I think people should visit a doctor to discuss their kidney problems and what is or isn't safe to eat only my opinion but it's probably not efficient relying on RU-vid
