Good morning friends and welcome back to part 2 of my 30 day declutter challenge, for 30 days I picked a new spot in my house that needed to be more organised but most importantly, decluttered! I decluttered well over 1000 items and my house is well on its way to becoming more manageable and clutter free! I wouldn’t call my self a minimalist just yet, but I'm getting there. It’s a journey that’s for sure! 😅
I used so many different decluttering methods throughout the last 30 days which i will explain throughout the video. With most of the areas I chose to do the Konmari method of decluttering,. I also always try to clean and declutter using the Swedish death cleaning method. This method is a bit more extreme, but i really like the concept of it! It makes me ask myself, if I passed away tomorrow is this item really that important? The answer is usually no, so it helps me to declutter much more than i would have in the past before adapting to this new way of thinking!
You all know how much i clean declutter and organize over here on my cleaning channel, but this challenge was a big one! In today's cleaning video i am sharing days 11-20 of my challenge!! I still have 10 more days to go of this 30 day declutter challenge but this video is already over 50 minutes long so there will definatly be a part 3!! 🤩🙌

When my kids were younger and I needed to clean their toys and cubbies, I used boxes and baskets with everything in them and whatever they played with during the next few weeks, is what went on the shelves. That way I didn’t have to deal with all of the little stuff by myself. I made a game out of putting all the pieces where they went and than asked them if we could give them to children who weren’t as lucky. Toys can be so overwhelming. I feel your pain. Keep up the good fight!! 😊

I’m a Cricket, naturally organized..BUT no one should deride you for dust and clutter. It’s endless in all of our houses. Earlier today our bed had 3 loads of laundry on it to be folded, a camera, ipad, cookbook, my morning exercise clothes and stacks of accounting work. Our long, low dresser had placemats to put away, two loads of towels to fold, our ballots for Tuesday, an empty Amazon box, mail to sort and a pedicure tool to charge. I have it taken care of but it took awhile. The good news is that It takes less time each time you do it. You’ve done an amazing job. 👍

I don’t have kids and it amazes me how much abundance there is in modern cultures that it’s a job keeping out and eliminating our collections. I grew up in a communist country until I was 8 and my parents had to stand on block long lines in order to buy toys. Consequently my memories of playing largely involved outdoor games played with my brother, dog, and kids next door. Your videos are inspiring! Congrats on getting the decluttering done. Second time watching this video, and when you said, "It's better to do something small than to not do [the challenge] at all," I got up and decluttered a few things from my desk and bookshelves, and then kept going with tossing some curtains in the wash and deep cleaning my bedroom blinds and window. I had been overwhelmed by my previous self-assigned task of sorting out the storage shelves in the master bedroom closet, and was certain today would be one of those disappointing, no-decluttering-got-done days, but you inspired and really did motivate me to do Something, and it feels SO good looking out this shiny clean window now!

When my kids lived at home we just did not have a lot of money and they did not get a lot of toys. There wasn't a lot of clutter. They each had 7 outfits, 1 pair of tennis shoes, 1 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of snow boots, 1 jacket, 1 coat, 3 pairs of pajamas, 7 underwear and 7 pairs of socks. Looking forward to Part 3!

My daughter is very blessed that she gets all of her clothes for free handed down from her cousin. I have a tip to share for helping kids getting Organized, in a shelf like the white one there are baskets for it. In a Kindergarten we worked we had a colour assigned to each cubicle and put a dot in that colour on every toy. Sometimes kids struggle with knowing where to put things but this helps them put it back where it belonged. ☀ and they love the game of „who knows where this goes?“

You know what’s fun? Finding an Aussie making this kind of content! Usually it’s Americans or other nationalities. It’s oldly relatable seeing Big W, Coles and Woolies bags being used as your donation bags haha, just hearing the accent, the “brush it off and keep moving/devil may care” attitude to passive aggressive comments, and Bluey toys around etc even you having a doggo (it feels like all Aussies do!) it’s really a breath of fresh air. Am only 8 minutes into this video (already watched Part 1). I don't care if your feet are dirty. Even if you weren't outside playing, just walking around a home feet can get dirty. You have a husband, kids, and a dog ... no way the floors are going to stay pristine every day. And the dust? Geesh, I can dust today and dust will be on the surfaces again tomorrow. I really appreciate you doing these videos ... showing a home most of us have .... thick dust from places we rarely touch, old carpets and furniture .... So many decluttering and mass cleaning videos are in these expensive homes that look great even when dirty. Your videos ARE inspiring and refreshing. Great work on all the effort you put in to declutter and clean. =)

Dealing with anxiety and depression I fully understand how a house can get out of control. Especially when the kids are small because it's so easy to just give them everything toys, clothes and so much more plus the gifts they get as well. I'm so glad i came across your channel! Coincidentally, I started the same journey in December, decluttering my house in 31 days using the Swedish death cleaning method. Brilliant job. One tip i heard is to put all kids toys you want to clear in a bag in garage/shed for a week or two if they dont ask for anything in there definitely fine to get rid of it. ( deals with the guilt aspect of de-cluttering others things). I think you have done amazing!!!

Hi I'm a preK-Kindergarten teacher. I understand having to deal with kids toys. What I do in my classroom is I take pictures of the toys in categories and then taped the pictures where I want them kept (shelves, boxes, drawers, etc). This way, the kids, even as young as 3, can put them away to their proper places based on the pictures. If you train them consistently in putting them away, soon they can do it themselves and all you have to do is just make a game out of clean up.

I like very much your videos. I have decided to apply the declutter challenge and to end by 21.04 a week before my birthday. I have so many books, papaers and my daughter's toys which are in boxes and need to be revised. She is 10 and it's easier because she is not interested in them anymore. Thanks for the motivation. I have been watching your 30 day challenge videos. Fantastic! You are amazing. About your feet! They are the feet of an amazing, hard working, strong, kind woman who is a great mum, a great person, who is doing something kind by being open and sharing their life on a YT video. Your comment about anxiety and depression made me tear up. I struggle with the same, and I understand. It has taken me a while to grasp how the accumulation of stuff (emotional buying) and having clutter and being disorganised, getting overwhelmed is connected to the anxiety and depression. Those people who have negative things to say have no clue. And honestly, they need to just shush. What you are doing is amazing for your life, you deserve a nice home that's free from the clutter. Nice folding. I enjoy your calm voice and encouraging words. Not everyone is the same but, I suggest fewer storage units for the toys, bins/ baskets on bottom so they're easier to pull out and clean around, and having a donation box and trash bin to put items directly in so you don't have to pick it all up again at the end. We all have dust bunnies!! Great to see your progress!

This was so awesome to watch! Reminded me of the days we had ALL those toys for the kids. You know...now at 63 with GROWN up kids, I honestly can say that I don't remember the very last day the toys were played with OR when they were finally decluttered! ...I was laughing so much when you were stuffing that poor blue bear into that bag...haha. Girl my feet get the same way an I do too suffer from depression and anxiety it sucks people just don’t think u know that’s another reason why I haven’t did any videos on my RU-vid channel I do makeup an it’s so hard to do it with depression u don’t want to get out of bed an stuff an it sucks I fight every day.. stay strong momma u got this ❤

I totally understand you for baby items. It is so emotional. Between my two girls i kept everything in boxes. But After my second girl i authorized myself to keep 5 items. It helps me a lot.

I recently watched a short or reel and the woman fills a box each time one comes in the house (from parcels etc) which I thought was a really neat maintenance idea! Currently declutterring my overwhelming home too ❤️ ignore the nasty comments! I’ll get my feet dirty to play with my son any day of the week 🥰

I grew up in a very messy household and now that I am an adult I try to be a littlemore mindful about my messes. Channels like yours help me feel less overwhelmed, I declutter along with you :) it’s nice to not feel alone doing it and sometimes your certainty helps me especially the part when you decluttered your clothes! You were tackling that so practically, it got me in the mood to get rid of a little more. I will probably,y Never be a Minimalist as a colourful playful room reminds me of home but I want to be surrounded by stuff that I actually like and not things that I just never bothered to get rid of. You inspire me. I have been there when my kids were young so I completely understand. While I no longer have the huge decluttering issue, I do what I call continual decluttering. I am 77 years old now and I have successfully incorporated the Swedish death cleaning method and I am certain my kids will appreciate my efforts when that time comes. I love watching your efforts Katrina. Thank you so much for sharing. As for childrens toys you are so right that when you get rid of many items, the kids enjoy what they have much more.

You are very motivating. I am 60, have moved from large home where we raised our three daughters, and I slowly decluttered a lifetime of memories. I still have a little ways to go; working on special papers and photos now. I am a little hung up on this. It is challenging but SO worth it! Thanks!

When I decluttered some of my baby clothes, I offered the smallest ones to my girls baby dolls. Their babies looked so cute with their own clothes. I got to see them being used for a little longer

I'm new here, so i don't know if you've tried this or not, but when i am feeling overwhelmed, or am about to start a job i know i am going to hate, i always have the garbage can beside me. I also have a box for recycling and one for donations. That way you only have to touch the items once, and don't have to sort through the pile you've already dealt with. When any box or bag is full, i take it straight outside. Having it away from me as i declutter helps make me feel the progress as it happens, and motivates me to keep at the current job. Great video ❤

I got so excited swing the Cole’s and Woolies bags! Love watching another Aussie 💖 You have done so well very motivating! Decluttering is definitely a journey. When my daughter was one years old we were drowning with all the toys. My anxiety was through the roof. I no longer buy toys for my kids. I’ve signed up at the toy library and we borrow toys and get to return them. This was the best for our family and my mental health. Just an idea for any other mama’s that are struggling with all the toys.
