30 days of Band Maid? Looks like we’ll be spending a lot of time together 🤗 I am the premier Band Maid song recommendation in this hemisphere (probably) so here are the greatest Band Maid songs in no particular order, but separated by whether the Live Version or the Official Music Video is best. Please consider using this as you consider songs going forward: OMV is best: “DICE” “Daydreaming” “From Now On” “Influencer” “Blooming” “the non-fiction days” “Bubble” “secret MY lips” “Manners” “Warning” “Thrill” “Alone” “Glory” “Don’t let me down” “Before Yesterday” “Giovanni:white room instrumental” “Without Holding Back: white room” “YOLO” “Order” “Memorable” “Protect You” “The Dragon Cries” “Secret Maiko Lips” “Gion-cho” “Shambles” “Bestie” “Sense” “Different” “Unleash” “After Life” “Start Over” “Rinne/Reincarnation” “Sayonakidori: acoustic” “Catharsis: acoustic” Here are songs that have superior live versions: “Don’t you tell ME” Zepp “Domination” “Freedom” “Hate?” Yokohama “Moratorium” “About Us” Online okiyuji “Play” “I can’t live without you” “Endless Story” Yokohama “Wonderland” “Puzzle” “Real Existence” Zepp “Corallium” Shibuya “FATE” “Turn Me On” “Cross” “Take Me Higher” “Onset” “CLANG” “anemone: acoustic” “Puzzle: acoustic” “Matchless Gum” “Black Hole” “NO GOD” “Hibana” Shibuya “Sayonakidori” Shibuya If you read this far, I will answer the obvious question: “This many songs? Seriously?” Yes. Of this list of 60 songs, I still left off several fan favorites and setlist regulars, including the song you reviewed today. The first list of MV songs is 34. For context, the Maids played 33 songs in their set for their Yokohama Arena performance. They are prolific, exceptionally talented songwriters.
Thanks for doing the MV of this which I prefer ... I am old (skool :p ). There are lots of hiding MV's ... as well as lives. 30 will barely scratch the surface ;) . This song (and the song BLOOMING) were featured in the Netflix movie KATE. Say "Mincho ... pleased to meet you ;) ". MISA MISA MISA says "me too".
"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" and the HBO Max series Peacemaker as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joy of rock. Here's a great live MV of "Choose Me" that's not quite as punchy do to the mix, but still good: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HcqitbXgigU.html Thx, Ords! (or Morrison?)
Yes. Saiki is very elegant and mesmerizing on stage. Watch her live, you will fall in love. And if you want bass solos, Band-Maid songs are filled with bass solos.
Band MAID ! Just love em abd listening for a few years now i think 6,5 or 7 i just can say then always rock, never are stale, have no bad song only personal favs and not so favs, progressed throughout each album- wich all gets more crazy when you know the back ground of the band, seen the dosumentaries etc- and just continue to bring a smile on my face and let me rock out each time. Many songs need multiple listens to even see what is all going in a song because they are technical, playful, a bit proggy and so slick with it you may miss it. They also never go just technical the song, message and vibe as a whole always have prio and fit each song while they still throw intricate stuff in there. Great talented, hard working and beloved rock stars .
Strap in, buddy, because Misa (AKA The Barefoot Assasin) is the QUEEN of Bass Solos! PREDICTION: BAND-MAID will be your first 60 days band! After 30 days, you will realize that youve just barely scratched the surface of their catalog and that #30 filled you with just as much excitement as #1 did. You will look back on what a smashing success the first 30 days were and say, "What the hell, 30 more days of BAND-MAID! Just you watch! Thanks again for another great reaction and remember: Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID! 🤘🤩🤘
By day 25, you will be ready to learn more about each band member. Orenje YT channel has a great documentary series of each member, usually 30 - 40 mins each. If you choose this mission, consider doing Saiki (lead V, 2nd lyricist, setlist maker) 1st, then Kanami (lead G., main composer), 3. Akane (Drums), 4. Misa (Bass), and finally Miku ( rhythm G, 2nd V, main lyricist, lead Pigeon, Band Maid founder), Po! I think that would wrap-up an awesome 30 day journey down the pigeon-hole, Po! 🦍🍌 PS, you'll still have more Band Maid MV's left, and the likelihood of falling into a Band Maid/The Warning MV and more with their new full album due out in a month or 2, Po!
And then Kanami, our beloved guitar hero, removes her foot off the monitor, carefully puts down her guitar, then dances off stage like a six year old in a Disney princess dress. 🤣
Yes! Band-Maid 30 times!!! Ah...what to suggest...so many good songs. Awe heck, the other Maidiacs are already suggesting stuff...so I'll just enjoy the journey over the next 29 reactions...I'm thinking you will go beyond 30. 🤔🤭 Did I mention "Daydreaming" is my favorite song?😉 Anyway, great reaction! No egos in Band-Maid. They all do what serves the song and allowing all to shine...serves the song. But if you like the bass, this is the right band for you, as MISA shines a lot, solo or not. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Did you say “bass solo”???? Hate? - Live! PLEEEEEEASE!!!! Although being a new listener, where most people start is Domination - Live. You really get a sense of their personalities and how good they really are, and it preps you for the face melting. 🤘🤘🤘
During this next 30 days, your mind will be blown. It happened to me when I started listening to Band-Maid. The answer to your comment about bass solos during their songs is YES. MISA's bass is a prominent part of their sound and she often has a chance to solo. Kanami, the lead guitarist and composer of their music, writes her score and then sends it to MISA for her edit, additions, etc. MISA has said that she first writes her lines for piano, plays it and then translates it to bass. She then sends back to Kanami and Saiki, to make sure the melody is easy enough to sing to. Kanami then writes Akane, their drummer's score and sends it to her for her suggestions and input into the beat. Miku, somewhere in that process, gets the score and writes what lyrics she feels will fit the song. There is an excellent 7-part documentary series on each member of Band-Maid, that Ohrenje, an incredible VLOGer on the internet, has produced. It is well worth viewing and reacting to. It really does a great job of portraying the group and its rise in popularity.
30 days of fun! Chains would be great. For MVs Dice, Blooming, Daydreaming, secret My lips and/or secret Maiko lips, YOLO. You'll hear quite a few bass solos in the next 30 days.
And Kate also featured "Blooming" in the car chase scene, which does have a OMV on their YT channel. It's a fantastic song and would highly recommend it to be one of the 30.
Dude, you pick any friggin song you want. This band has made more absolute bangers than any other band that I've heard in my 61 years. You can pick songs that didn't even get a video. You just can't go wrong with BAND-MAID!
@@ReactAttack90 They don’t have a bassist they have a lead bassist! Her name is Misa and they call her the barefoot assassin. My favorite bassist of all time! You haven’t seen anything yet! 🍺😁🤘🏻
Of their MVs in their channel.... Band Maid staples they perform frequently in concert are Alone, Dice, Don't You Tell Me (both the MV and Live are good), Play (only a live), Domination (there is a MV and Live but Live is much better), From Now On, Endless story (both MV and Live are worth watching(, Daydreaming, Shambles, Influencer, No God, Hate. But honestly I will say just about any song you pick is good. Dice and Blooming (which they don't perform as much) are the quintessential BM songs and ones most often used to introduce new fans.
Band-Maid has a ton of bass solos. The main reason is that Miku (Gt/Vo) actually didn’t play ANY guitar when she founded the band. Kanami (Gt.) is actually Miku’s guitar teacher, on top of being the main songwriter. Miku’s worked hard at levelling up (she’s great now) but any “duelling” guitars is still going to be a Guitar (Kanami) VS Bass (MISA) situation.
Looking forward to all 30 days! I know you say you like MVs better. But one detail about them is that many of Band-Maid's videos just show them playing the song in various settings...which is exactly what the Maidiacs want to see most! Some of these videos have references to other stories/information but they're still just the Maids playing the song. Story-driven videos (which still always feature lots of shots of the Maids playing the song) include 'Domination,' 'Unleash!!!!!,' 'Don't You Tell ME,' 'Memorable,' 'Warning,' 'Before Yesterday,' 'Start Over,' 'The Dragon Cries,' and 'Don't Let Me Down.' MVs with slight story elements include both Band-Maiko songs, ('Secret Maiko Lips' and 'Gion Cho') 'Bubble,' and 'Dice.'
Though LIVE is usually the way to go with BAND-MAID there are certain ones where the Music Video is the definitive version: 'Rinne', because it's shot on 8 mm film like the Japanese Horror movie it's named for. 'Blooming' & 'Shambles' have LIVE versions but they don't improve on the videos. and especially 'Unleash' because they appear in Anime Form. Also the BAND-MAIKO videos. There are others, 'Afterlife', Infuencer' and 'Warning' come to mind.
30 days of B-M? You son of a...I'm in! Nice. If I might be so bold as to put in a request, one of Can't Live Without You or Unfair Game. Unfortunately there are no official lives of any of these songs on RU-vid or even a MV but the tracks are on B-M's channel. Probably why not many people react to them but musically they're both total bangers.
No issues with you enjoying their music videos as they are amazing to watch, but everyone will tell you they are better live. So make sure to get some of those live videos it there. They have several official live ones with some great soloes whether it be guitar, bass, or drums. They also have some acoustic versions of some of theirs songs, full instrumental, and songs sang completely by Miku, who does backing vocals and rhythm guitar. They even have April's Fool music videos under the name Band-Maiko. I'll simply suggest a few live versions of songs: Freedom, Hate?, Don't You Tell Me, and Acoustic version of Sayonakidori. Beyond that just enjoy picking which ever ones you want.
There is a Live version of this also on their YT Channel. I highly suggest you watch it as well. And pay attention to Saiki's voice. When originally recording the song, Saiki was suffering from severe vocal issues having polyps on her vocal cords, which were removed surgically in the last week of July 2017. Which ironically was just a week after this song was released it's "A" side "Daydreaming". Yes, this is a "B"side. You will find that the "B"sides are just as good, and in a few cases even better than the "A"sides. If you want to hear another EXCELLENT "B"Side check out their song "Unfair Game". No MV or OLV for it, unfortunately. But the guitar solo will make you jaw hit the floor.
If you like bass you're gonna be eating GOOD for the next month. MISA doesn't get a solo in every song but she gets a lot of little fills and feature moments, and if you listen carefully she's often playing some crazy walking bassline under the rest of the band.
Like @bm4-life said, "Yea! 30 days of BAND-MAID." Yes, you will get a lot of suggestions. That said, I've listening to BM since 2014 and became an instant fan so I feel I can offer up a couple of suggestions should you be interested. 1. DICE/HATE at Lollapalooza 2023 (live video) 2. DAYDREAMING (video) - this is a toned down masterpiece in my opinion Thank you for much for discovering and continuing to react to my favorite band.
Thank you for nice reaction. I recommend Live "Turn Me On" (Zepp Tokyo) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4q5rHaYrKr8.html "DICE" (MV) & "YOLO" (MV) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZpAYnVJX9CY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKZbzcUdY1g.html "On set" (Live) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mVrN-j_Uc0U.html "Don't you tell ME" (Live) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q7VqI6yas_o.html and FREEDOM (Official Live Video) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FHpuEqMAcDg.html another recommends All Female Heay-MetalBand [LOVEBITES]
Great reaction looking forward to your journey. As you said chain reactions for mv and live would be great because more than anyone Band-Maid look at the original recording of a song as just a starting off point. Over the years in live performances they add little pieces here and there, extended solos, big intros, etc... also would be interested if you did chains of the regular and acoustic versions of some songs, like Sayonakidori, to see how they can completely transform a song and make both versions amazing.
Great reaction, congratulations, not everyone... actually almost no one identifies their musical style as pop punk rock.👍 Since you're not following the chronological order of the MVs let me leave you a very guitar biased ranking of my favorite MVs: 1 YOLO 2 Alone 3 The Non Fiction Days 4 Daydreaming 5 Blooming 6 Dice 7 Choose Me ✔ 8 Secret My Lips 9 Bubble 10 Endless Story 11 From Now On (Instrumental) 12 Order (Hard to find) And there are still twenty-two more MVs to choose from + the official live videos available on their RU-vid channel.😲
Do not worry, there are more than enough videos to do 30 days, and lives to do 30 days…. And b-sides that kick fscking ass to do 30 days If you want entertaining videos that try to do slightly more than band in a cool location: Warning Afterlife Unleash Domination Don’t you tell ME Dice Rinne Don’t let me down Secret Maiko Lips Must watch lives: Hate? Domination Don’t you tell ME Freedom Sense Play Onset
The Official Music Video of Don't You Tell ME followed by the Official Live Video of Don't You Tell ME at Yokohama Arena would make a great double header reaction. The OMV of it is my favorite OMV of theirs and the OLV has an added guitar vs bass duel included.
By the way... Multiple melt your face guitar solos and bass solos are just Band-Maid doing the normal things that Band-Maid does. Everyone gets a chance to shine. Some other song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, Matchless Gum, and Endless Story. The OLV of Freedom has a good drum solo if you are into that. They have a catalog of over one hundred great songs. If you are not fond of one then choose another because it will be much different than the one before it and the next one to follow. Have fun with it!
Once you go down this pigeon hole it will be a sisyphean task to get out. Mark my words you have no idea what you're in for. On day 30 go back and see if all the Maidiacs were wrong
Bass solo? LOL you don't know what you are in for with BAND-MAID. I know you like the music videos but they add so much more in their live sets, like more bass solos and I mean SOLOS.
