I live in a heroin ridden hood and was cited for "chipped paint" on my fence on the alley side. So I fought it all the way to a court hearing just to ask him if he could tell me who complained??? The neighbors?,. The trash trucks? Or, was it the junkies leaving their syringes behind? Then showed him pics and he actually apologized and dismissed the ticket.
WOW THE US IS GETTING ALL KINDS OF STUPID LAWS THAT ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME JUST WASTING TIME AND OUR MONEY AND GETTING MORE REVENUE FOR THE CITY DRAINING US DRY.
I would LOVE to know on what POSSIBLE grounds someone is going to throw you in jail over a pile of sand on your own property. That absolutely blows my mind.
@@MacBailey Sure. But that's typically the 100-foot standoff that he refers to. In MOST places, they'd fine you heavily for it, but that wouldn't typically be a jail-time kind of thing.
Typical zoning commission, instead of just saying "you can't have a big pile of sand in your yard at the lake", they first say "well, it's got to be 100ft away from the water." Then after you make all the effort to move it they threaten you with fines or jail for doing exactly what they first said.
"just quarantine for two weeks" . . . "just wear the mask" . . . " just take the vaccine" . . . "show us your papers" . . . "just get in the cattle car" . . . "just live in these camps" . . . "just lay in these ovens"
@@Trump-2024MAGA I fully agree that people should be allowed to die if they want to. The vaccine is widely available, if people don't want it, that's on them IMO. If things change and people change their minds, they can go get one.
@@Trump-2024MAGA aww, someone doesn't understand how science works. its almost like people followed the earlier guidance, we wouldn't be where we are today
The more I see how other states do things, the more I love South Carolina. "Get the dirt off your property" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.
I thought that the telescopic ram dump trailers were supposed to be the shiz!☹️ Your best option may be to install a bed vibrator on the dump to get material moving as you lift. ~$550 for a buyers model
I was out doing some underground cable tv in San Diego, we had to put tarps down when we dug because they didn't want the dirt touching the dirt. Because there was barely any grass growing in the areas that I was working. And the majority of the dirt went back into the hole, so I tried to get by without it, but I was spotted and caught hell over the dirt laying on top of the bare ground 2 feet from the hole
I hear you! I'm on a corner lot and have my trailers and boats parked on it, but, code enforcement showed up and gave me 30 days. No jail threat, but $500/day. I spoke with the guy and the complaint was anonymous of course, about the 5th one in the past year. You should do like the DoT does and just put a roof over it and instead of sand, it's winter melt material.
It always amazes me how your business becomes everyone else’s business when they get jealous of how well you’re doing, you probably went years with no issues but now that you’re doing a bunch of upgrades and doing better someone is going to get their panties in a bind…… hope you stay out of jail…… great video…..
@@embededfabrication4482 you must not watch the channel much.. that property has been being extensively re landscaped ...recontoured and remodeled.. and he does have a very large equipment yard and shop
Russell that is hard to believe. With the Olympics at hand and just losing to the Canadien team it would be hard to also regulate property/zoning infractions.
I had a similar issue with a neighbor reporting me for BS. I just pulled out HOA rules started reporting them for everything that was even close to a violation! Imagine the glee I experienced watching them get 2 direct TV dishes lag screwed into their roof on the front 1/3 of the roofline when the regulations require it to be on the back third 😎
@@j.jarvis7460 I was a installer for 7 years. DTV has a phone number that the installers call up and hand the phone to the Karen's in the HOA to educate whoever thinks they have more power than the FCC.
Wow 30 days just for a bit of dirt/sand that’s just shows the world has gone mad. That must have been a Karen that reported you lol. Can’t wait to see what’s in store next. Great work and thanks for sharing this with us take care
well i'm sure it's less about the actual dirt and more about protecting the water way. I'm pretty sure this is the property they've had a bad experience with the neighbors already
@@Dirtmonkey have you brought it up to the proper channel and ask them what it is about? If they're giving you such short notice im sure you can go out there and talk with them about the notice.
You apparently live in the country, have multiple pieces of construction equipment on the property, and they are concerned about a relatively small pile of sand??? I'm confused. Is there a regulation about sandboxes? If not, you should have nailed some 2x12s together to make it a 'legal' sandbox. Sounds like bureaucratic BS to me.
Chances are there's a special shoreline zoning or wetlands BS within a certain distance of the water, where "we tax you like you own it, but it's really ours" rules apply. I do wonder if the second notice wasn't because they expected the sand to disappear after the first notice, and didn't realize that it actually had moved.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Why is this pile of sand such an issue? There's just too many rules and too many busy bodies sticking their noses where they doesn't belong.
I’m with you GrandpaLarry. I watched for 27 minutes to find out why that pile of sand was a big deal to the G-men and after all said and done I’m still in the dark!
@@peterrose5373 Exactly what i was thinking. The inspector did not or does not know what a tape measure is. I would have have asked them to come out and explain what the F they are talking about. Usually the notice would provide the exact law code that is being violated for me to look up. But if Mr Dirtmonkey is caving …. its his issue not mine. YET.
From someone in the U.K., I’m amazed that the "Land of the Free", seem to want to incarcerate their citizens for the most banal and petty misdemeanours, and also feel the need to live under the tyrannical control of Home Owners Associations.
It isn’t always HOA. It’s their local councils. I remember a story about a guy who put up a mast windmill for power, got told it was illegal and to move it. Did so, but where he put it was also illegal( though funny how it was ok when he asked for building permits both times. Then, after he moved it, faced jail over the small foundation block that was left behind. That removal of which would have caused structural damage to his house. Even though that was cited, the council didn’t care, and when he removed it, they claimed his house was not structurally unsound. The case went on for years. Every time he did what they told him to do, they found another thing to charge him with, then another, then another.
Title comes in several parts. When American Fed government incorporated everything had to change to fit in a new system. Now they keep 1 part of the title to every land sale, thus having a vested interest in the property. Because you can't cause harm to a property owners interest they get to tell you how you can and can't use the land. It's also why you pay taxes, it's their part of the land interest. Get alodial title(all parts) and then you can tell them to pound sand.
that big of a property and you cant even have a small pile of sand in your yard without them threatening to put you in jail. Thats honestly pretty sad.
Can't imagine living somewhere that would threaten to throw me in jail for having a small pile of sand on my property. Good luck with your neighbors, lmao.
Hey Stanley, I would have went down to the mayor's office and showed him the letters and asked WTF? Post on county's facebook page with pics of the letters and the moved piles of sand. Also check on regs about sandboxes for kids. Power trippin choderheads. Sheesch!
Exactly, I wouldn't have just abided by their silly request most likely brought forward by a neighbouring Karen. Cmon Stan this was a power trip on their part and you shouldn't have pondered their request without more fight
Sometimes it's easier to just fix 1 simple problem before it turns into "what happen to me" them coming to your house every week and finding new things you have to get corrected it's extremely annoying to have to deal with
i was thinking the same thing. something real fishy going on there and if it started with me, i would have made it known how much i hated that persons guts. and i would have fought this person till she blead money and i bottled their tears
I understand some regulations but things like this show you just how not Free America really is & also property tax, so no one truly owns any land. "No one is more enslaved than someone who believes they are free."
Stan, It's such a good feeling to know there are such caring neighborhood "dirt police" to do your thinking for you & tell you what to do on your own property! Big brother is here to save us! Praise be to big govt.. I bet you are prevented from building a fence tall enough to keep the "inspectors" from tresspassing at will. The end is near.
I watched one of your videos and in it you were moving a piece of equipment my question is where you got the binders that you used to tighten your chains using an impact and how much they cost. Like watching your video keep it up they are very helpful and fun to watch thanks for your time
It never ceases to amaze me how much government can tell you what you can do on YOUR OWN property even when you are hurting no one else. We DO NOT live in a free country anymore.
My guess, there's a realtor selling a house nearby and turned you in. Yea, they do that because of devaluing the potential value of the property they're trying to sell. I've been caught up in that mess myself. And on another note: I don't mind using a trailer jack handle, it always kept my "patting myself on the back" arm too sore to do so, just saying.(LOL) Have a great "jail-free" weekend, Stan. Cheers!
That's a good point. Most realtors ( not all - surely this ain't all of them) are pretty ppl who can't or won't do much that's useful so they go into lying about, transferring and hiding problems for a commission while wearing good clothes.
As a kid i remember helping my dad make yard with the garden tractor and a spring mattress. I still remember that ever time i hook my rock away on the skiddy
I ended up moving back home to care for my parents. Their neighbours were such wonderful people calling in the city officials to give my parents compliance orders and getting them fined . Oh and the wonderful conversations I had with them how my parents were broke and should be in long term care ( my brother was power of attorney and stole all the money and ran ) . It didn’t matter to them and they harassed my parents, both of which had dimentia . Gotta love those people. Oh I am being highly sarcastic
People are jealous of your success, it’s one of the drawbacks of being a public and popular figure. Good luck with everything in the future stay safe and keep the videos coming.
hey man i hope you see this. but a video of yours i was just watching brought to my attention we are in the same area, the video was you testing a new prosumer mower, and i thought that it was so sweet you were in mendota heights! i’ve been watching you for a while but had no clue, i aspire to be as big as you one day
Had a job where I drove around the midwest testing cell towers. Out of Nebraska, Indiana, Iowa (home) Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota, MN cops had the least sense of humor and were the most eager to pull you over/check you out. Made you feel uncomfortable and awkward. That was my experience anyway.
Yes sir I grew up in Minnesota and refuse to go back cause every time I go there they try to arrest me. Everytime it’s some stupid crap. They asked to search a uhaul my buddy was driving cause he was parked at a gas station in a uhaul and apparently that is suspicious.
Love watching your videos Stan. Being from the UK (though spent >2 years in 48 states, so not totally unfamiliar with US culture) I’d have appreciated a bit more explanation on what the issue with the sand is, as it was confusing; and it would help us international viewers understand your world a bit more. If it’s “none of my beeswax“ as they say over there, then that’s all good too! Again, thanks for letting us ride along with you.
@Myrra Lamb Thanks so much Myrra! You should definitely visit when the restrictions are lifted, we have lots of different ecosystems in a very small area, from the rolling fields of the Cotswolds, to the stunningly beautiful lake district, the bleak Yorkshire Moors and the epic Scottish highlands (to name but a few). All within a few hours car journey from each other. You can be in beautiful forest one minute and metropolitan city the next. Also, having travelled the world, we have some of the greenest country you will ever see, wonderful historic sites like Stonehenge, York, Bath, Hadrian's wall, and London has some of the best museums and theatre. I recommend spending a few days in London then renting some cottages in the Lakes.
When I was in Cali one of the homes I had made me draw detailed plans of soft and hardscape. I include a location for a swing set for the kids. They approved it and then when the swing set went in they started sending me threatening letters. I referred to the previously approved plans and the fact that I got my swing set from the largest distributor in the world, Sears. The HOA was ruthless so I put up a taller fence and covered it with honeysuckle. HOAs have no authority over jail time so it would have to be some form of law enforcement community. Sadly Stanley, you moved it away from the water and they still didn't like it and, your grandkids will pay the price
Nice work what finesse with your machinery. I could use one of those on my property here in Washington maybe when I hit the lotto. It is now September end but we had one long drought with a 3 month burn ban. It has rained a bunch finally, I'm sure its all headed your way. It seems when I lived in Ohio it rained more ! Enjoying your video'sI am not a contractor though....
Here is a heads up for you Stan, that hay string/ baler twine has the potential has the potential to cause real headaches for you. Years ago I worked at a Case International dealership and the twine loved to get wrapped up around the axles on skid loaders and tear up the axle seals and if left alone would eventually take out the axle's bearings too. One farmer in particular seemed not tp care and once every year or two his loader would end up at the dealership with a tire or two leaned over and rubbing the loader because the bearings were that tore up. i know you were using it with a tracked loader, but I would recommend taking a good look around the drive sprocket to make sure it is not wrapping up around the drive.
As I see it, you have at least a couple ways to go with this. 1) If they gave you a signed order to remove the sand, or else... Send them an invoice for ALL your work. You make money on orders, remember? They are committing extortion. Very simple. 2) If that is YOUR property, sue the bastards for "Administration of your property without right".
used to live in a place that is like an HOA but a body corp ( was a farm with housing on it ) lady caused us lots of problems all the time and would not drop stuff from years ago. Was really nice watching all the tractors drive by her stuck car for a few days till she finally ran out options and had to ask for a tow out … best part is it was the nicest my boss was to someone and with the best smile, could tell he just loved every minute of it.
My grandfather’s response to being told that would probably be the same as when he got a cease and desist order for building he’s cabin. He said “oh well” reached into he’s Jeep pulled out a shotgun and said “make me” and yes there was a cop there that dragged the lady away
He appears to be sane. Just because you can argue and fight doesn't mean you should. Doesn't appear to that big a deal to him. He may know they are right from the start as well and know it's a lost cause to question and argue.
I really hate it when you own your own land and people can tell you what you can and can't do on your own land. Love the video's keep up the good work and god bless and stay safe.
That fine black very fertile dirt with the good drainage underneath would make an ideal spot for a new bed of the 'natural' growing wildwood flower!!😁😁
I am interested, is there a specific reason they do not want the sand piles near the lake? Are they worried about the pile washing down to the lake and causing sediment issues? There is a reason, I just do not know what it is.
SEEMS LIKE THE POLLUTION ITS WHAT THE SAND MAY CONTAIN AND THEN LEACH IN TO WATER. ANIMALS DOING IT DONT MATTER BECAUSE THE CASE TO STOP ANIMALS FROM DOING IT IS TO BIG THIS MAN EASY TARGET (sorry about caps).
You need to watch Clarkson‘s Farm on Amazon to see how the UK enforces environmental laws on private land. My guess is with this guy the body of water was funded by Federal or State maintenance money, so now falls under Federal water clarity codes. Sand can cloud water which causes algae. It’s fun to see the grand kids have fun in the sand, but the cost of their enjoyment shouldn’t destroy the lake.
That's crazy. Someone called the cops on my neighbors sawmill the police came and said everything is legal. But then lady that works for the city is saying everything is illilegel we checked the laws and it says nothing about a sawmill. Now he has 30 days to get all of his equipment out of else they are going to start charging him. Anyways hope everone had a great week and hope everone has a great weekend, God bless.
The government is a joke doesn't matter where you live. Where I live, it's illegal to use your home for any kind of business use, I'm technically not even allowed to use my garage to fix my own tools or trucks. I can't park my F550 at my house, my dump trailer can't be here either. It's insane.
As I see it, he can either make money with the saw mill, or he can make money filling the city's order. He removes the sawmill and charges a $1000/day for filling their order. Would that be enough revenue? Make the gubmint bastards think twice before EVER messing with you in the future. Let them find an easier target.
I put a HD 6ga quick-connect battery cable on my dump trailer and truck so I can use the power of my 2 batteries to raise up my dump trailer. In upstate NY in July we had more rain than dry days, but no rain in the past week though.
Yeah that's not how it works. Ok you live next to me and I have an empty plot of land that I want to profit off of so l get paid for people to get rid of their extremely toxic waste. The smell is unbearable and toxic and then it starts to seep into the ground and pollutes everyone's ground water and kills off all the wildlife in the nearby lake. I'm guessing you'll be fighting for me when your property value drops to zero and you can't be near your property without a gas mask because the air is deadly? But hey it's my property, f everyone and everything else that might be affected by what I do on it. That mentality is what's wrong with the world these days. So much for love thy neighbor.
I’m in SoCal, back in 2012 took a trip up north to the Sierra’s (our beautiful, lush mountains) except I saw what could be an apocalypse. Grew up around them. You can’t see more than a few feet back. Stunned, devastated and deeply heartbroken to see what the drought has caused. From the Sierra’s to the Cascade Mountains all of us in the west have been proud of our Mountain range.
Sooooo... I have recently decided, I do indeed enjoy the CONTENT of your videos and have just now decided to SUBSCRIBE keep up the good work DIRTMONKEYS...
Stan I can't help it but, I keep thinking your wear lederhosen in this episode. Waiting for you to bring out stein of beer. And have the umpa guys zach, sam and the rest playing polka music.
My neighbor got a 5k fine for taking down a half dead tree that already dropped large branches on both his house and his vehicle (while his 36 month old son was in it). So he hired and arborist to take down the tree in an emergency removal. Permit would take longer than he felt safe to keep it up, especially after the vehicle incident (also required a replacement hood and windsheild). The neighbour got nosy, and upset because it was an old large tree that was there for over 35 years. The city slapped the fine on him, regardless of the reasoning.
35 yrs, omg! That's a sapling! I got upset when my neighbor took down a 400 yr old oak but you know what I did? Thats right, I helped him clean up the small stuff and it warmed my family all the next winter. I miss the hell out.of that tree but guess what, it was his to cut not mine to leave.
@Thomas John Hanlon Jr. What gets me is that if you or I go out and burn down someone's business, we go to prison for arson, but if we bring 100 friends along and burn 20 buildings, it's a 'movement' and who gets charged? Bob Dylan was onto something, that's for sure.
That just goes to show you what kind of justice we have. Put a working man in jail over something like that and smack a thief on the wrist and tell him not to do that again. That's messed up. Feel sorry for your grand kids. That's the kind of world we live in
I'd have to imagine the letter was from the DNR or conservation police concerned about that pile making it's way into the waterway. That stuff is taken very seriously
@Myrra Lamb the hell they do.. money is king.. if you have cash you can build whatever you want they don't care. The only vegetation the state of Minnesota dnr cares about is the cash. Hell theyre the reason we have so many tree infections etc. In the first place!.. Oh hey Billy let's go test this insect out on state forest land and see if we can manage it.. ope sheesh it got loose.. now we have ash borers and oak wilt fungus all over!.. Cities are literally allowing developers to back fill wetlands and build houses... there's a site in dayton where some of the foundations sank 3 feet after the first year.. 3 FEET!
Old concrete is considered clean fill in Minnesota, and can be used to protect Lake shore from erosion. I don't think clean sand should be any issue. That said, some communities / HOA's might not like old busted up concrete, or might require a certain type of rip-rap etc. But I don't think that's likely up where Stan's cabin is. (Down where, from me lol)
Hey Stan and anyone reading this, off topic question, kinda. Would you put a snow blade on an F150 or would you rather prefer going to a f250? 1/2-ton vs 3/4 ton. Im looking to make the leap and need to make a choice. Thanks bud. Glad you're not in jail.
I used to duck hunt along a small windy river and a portion was impassable so I would jump the barb wire fence in to the pasture. Then it was go time. No matter where the bull was, it was a sprint. The bull coming for me, and me to get to the opening beyong the thorn bushes and leap over the fence just b4 he got me......EVERYTIME
After several months of Heavy snow in Minnesota, I would think a month of dry weather wouldn't bother you. Are there problems setting an irrigation system up there?
That brings back memories, Here in Sarasota FL in the 80s If the county "Tree Ferry's" caught you removing a tree with out a permit, They would call out sheriff deputy to the property and arrest you on the spot. True Story!
1:04 Nobody does 30 days in "prison." It's Jail. There's a world of difference. Not that one is more desirable than the other. But they're not the same thing.
Stan that trailer part was not you're brightest moment lol but that's how some of us have to learn unfortunately through our mistakes also that Kubota seems very underpowered I run a Volvo at work that would spin the tracks no problem I was surprised to see it not spin and just stay still
The kubota is designed to not spin the tracks I learned. that way you don't break free. But I don't like it when a machine drives for me. let me make my own stupid mistakes and handle it. 👊😃 And yep- that trailer thing was pretty dumb but I still show it becuase I don't ever pretend to be perfect.
Just imagine if they let everyone have a little sand. Next thing you know people would start hoarding it and selling it on the black market and then comes Armageddon!
