From a basic sound to an analog madness in 30 minutes. No editing, no overdubs, no sequencing, just the Bass Station II and a glass of wine. Recorded straight into Ableton Live, through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 1gen. Just a bit of reverb added on post. Enjoy.

hi, i love it... its great.. one question my friend... how can you play 2 keys at the same time? it is a monophonic, harmonious synth, isn't it?

Hi. One of those recent firmware updates brought the paraphonic mode to BSII, so it is possible to play 2 simultaneous notes, since each key will trigger one of the two oscillators.

@@lucasbrasil4650 I might advise that it is quite strange to play this paraphonic mode. It is not the same as if it was polyphonic.

Thanks. These knobs are called chroma caps, I guess. They are from djtechtools.com. Recently I have found similar (but a lot cheaper) knobs in Chinese sites, such as AliExpress. I did nothing with the wheels. Their black cover just started cracking and breaking, so I removed it and left the blue part exposed.

Yeah. Bass Station's knobs crack and fall appart after some time of gentle use. So I bought new knobs at Dj Tech Tools and they are really sturdy.

Listen through good speakers :-) Love the Novation BS II. How are you playing two notes with two fingers on the keyboard ? I didn't know it had a paraphonic mode ?

Paraphonic mode can be enabled by holding the function key and pressing Osc1-2 Sync twice. The display will change to: P-0. Use the patch value buttons to enable (P-1) or disable (P-0) paraphonic mode. The paraphonic mode can be saved per-patch. By default paraphonic mode is always off.

Exactly. And remember to raise the volume of both oscillators, since each one will be one voice in paraphonic mode.

When I try paraphonic mode by playing two note chords the notes is retriggered when I release the keys (so it is trigger note on and off). The only way I can stop this happening is by have no release on the envelope.

william paiva just an init patch with paraphonic mode turned on and release turn up. When playing two notes together (diads) the sound retriggers when I release the keys. It’s fine with release at zero but as soon as I increase release time it retriggers. Is this normal?

It was a long time ago and I think they have updated the knobs with newer ones. These one I got are called chroma caps. You just have to choose the one with the same fit of the original ones.
