Met Ken Curtis at county fair in. Indiana. He was a really sweet man. Met him during meet and greet . He was so impresed with my little Daughter, that he kept her on his lap during the entire meet and greet and gave her candy before we left.

Wished my family could have watched Gunsmoke when they were on. I lived in tip of the Thumb in Michigan. We only got 2 channels (channel 5 Bay City & channel 12 Flint) neither showed Gunsmoke, what a shame.

I remember Festus and Doc having all sorts of knockdown drag out disagreements over the simplest minor things. I can't help if that was the inspiration to Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelly's onscreen portrayal of Spock and McCoy'

Wow Curtis having a twin brother in real life - must be hard to check facts that in fact Festus had a twin brother in a Gunsmoke episode called Us Haggens - his brother's name was Fergus. In the episode Festus goes to Dodge to avenge the murder of his twin brother and despite Curtis being in more than 300 Gunsmoke episode his brother was never mentioned again.

He was friends with the Stockwell family. My buddy another cowboy asked me to ride an unbroken mule the owner didn't dare ride. Another friend Bert had passed away another cowboy friend so in honor of him in my mind I took the CHALLENGE . It was great fun crowhopping around while Willie held the hackamore . I'd of been bucked of but for the help. The mules name was Festus, great fun.

Ken had issues his love hate relationship often left jack in hiding because of the black eyes and belt marks jack was reduced to becoming a recluse. But remained completely loyal to his secret lover ken s acting abilities were greater than people actually thought.

Festus and Doc made Gunsmoke last for 20 years. Kitty, Matt and Doc were the backbone and the producers knew to bring fresh characters in for continued interest. Watch Gunsmoke from the 60's and note the future movie stars like Harrison Ford in bit parts.

Well I liked the way he walked and talked with that squeaky kind of voice. However, he also reminds me of one of the cowboys actor that play in the movie TOMBSTONE with actors Kirk Russell, Sam Elliot, and the other great actors, I was just wondering 🤔 💭 if that was Mr. Ken Curtis son or family member you know the one that said to Doc Holiday character in the movie, allegedly "Hell I have lots of friends and Doc said I don't". That actor and the character that uncle Fester portrait kind of look alike in other words favor in the face and with some gestures in the movie. Godbless ❤

If Ken Curtis actually had an identical twin, you could be certain Hollywood would have written into one of the scripts as a guest spot at some point in Gunsmoke's run Even if there was some disability involved, they would have done a single scene non-speaking role in at least onee episode

I have a picture of me on his lap when I was in grade school and he was in Las Animas in the 1940's. He went to school with my dad and mom. I also have a picture of him holding up my daughter and son when he came to Casper Wyoming for a rodeo as Festus. Fond memories. Bob Hageman

I could never watch Gunsmoke after Dennis Weaver left, my favorite along with Sam the bartender and Hank, & Doc. Dillon got old, was not a very fine actor, same old thing every week and Festus I could not stand. GS could have been a fine western...actually the 1st 9 years were great real-life stories re struggling settlers...but as a friend told me, "GS was turned into a stupid ass comedy when season 10-20 ran with sickening Festus."
