Imagine being a historian trying to explain that the 300 graphic novel is fiction and that yes there were 300 *Spartan citizens* but 90% of the population of Sparta at the time were slaves and there were 7,000 of them. Oh also slavery was banned in Persia by Xerxes himself.

Realistically this game isn't fair to the Persians. If you know history they killed 1 Roman Emperor, enslaved another and killed the richest man in Rome Crassus, Caesers friend, who tried to conquer them at one point. Not to mention they badly humiliated Marc Antony.

Would love to see a free for all with the diversity of having an offensive army and a defensive army for all units.

During the battle of Thermopylae, some Greeks volunteered to hold the line while Athens and a few other city-states pulled their forces back to defend deeper into Greek territory. 300 Spartans held the frontline while 700 Thespians held the rear guard. There were also a few hundred Helots, Phocians and Thebans there too, but they were overwhelmed or surrendered early in the battle according to both Persian and Greek sources. The 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians held out with little to no help for multiple days. The reason why the Spartans were the ones who received most of the glory for the battle was that they were the frontline men. The rest of the Greek forces were holding their flanks and rear. During the first wave of Persians, 10,000 Persians were cut down by the Spartans, who only lost 3-7 men in return. It was one of three times Xerxes stood up from pure shock during the battle. So, yes, there were allied Greeks, but the Spartans saw the brunt of the fighting. Also, all of the allies that stayed behind with the Spartans were largely useless except for the Thespians.

@@superkamiguru6856 They were actually 7.000 Thespians and 300 spartans. And yeah spartans were the hardcore soldiers and made Xerxes lose hes shit, that's why they get the most credit.

@@TheBetterBleedingBladesRU-vid Thespians didn't get enough credit because they weren't even warriors...They were normal citizen that chose to fight..They weren't something wow and they didn't achieve anything big. Spartans literally trained all their life for this from 5 years old.

@@pepegos5778 Excepting that they were then warriors- they were trained hoplites. Even if they were casual civillians who joined up that makes them trained soldiers.

Or be more active in his commands after the Spartans grabbed the foothold on the bridge they should have stopped and had reinforcements come in behind them instead of pushing into the Persian lines and spreading themselves so thin. And those larger groups should have been on the attack once the Persians crossed the river so they didn't get flanked
