Do you have a gauge that you can fit to show what gear it is in. It would be interesting to see how many of the last 4 gears it uses. I remember Toyota recalibrating the 200's auto to go into 6, and stay there longer.
It is an epic vehicle. Can’t wait to see what you guys can do with it. In the meantime I have to get my 1GD to you. Slowest vehicle I owned. It is painful and the gearbox never locks in except downhill.
having driven the 300 series twice now I would say that the 10 speed auto with its excellent calibration more than accounts for the 2nd turbo transition - i.e. I really couldn't detect any hesitation or non linear power/ torque - I thought it was very far ahead of the 200 series. Thats without talking about handling, the 300 series is night and day better in my opinion.
Interesting dyno graph for the 300-series. I wonder how the dyno graph would look if you did a "true twin" conversion as they call it (on a 2JZ engine this was a 5 minute mod). For comparison a gasoline (V35A-FTS) stock 300-series puts down 370 AWHP, albeit on a dynojet.
Not in Australia mate, all the 200s sold here are 4.5litre twin turbo V8 diesel and the 70series are the same engine with a single turbo. We haven’t had a petrol cruiser here for years. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
I will stick with my 200. What technology do you speak of ?? 4.5l QC V8 vs 3.3l QC V6 Both twin turbo. Both DI DIESEL The only think new is the boost Bing higher??
@Lone Wolf lol still going to use the same In fuel towing in the V6. Energy in to energy out. And yes the 300 is 100kg lighter So yes 🙌 I bit less fuel ⛽️ I know you regret losing 📉 the 200 V8 sad but true
I think a tuned 200 will produce far more power and especially more torque with far less stress on the engine. And it's mostly down low, where you need it more, whereas the 300 has to rev harder.
Toyota Japan have invested millions into development to ensure performance and reliability and you guys think you can just look at it for 10mins and slap some generic mods on and ‘improve’ it 🤣😂
