what a crock of crap Jesse. gsx was the fat bottom girl, with a lot of potential, from "shes all that". The 3000gt vr4 is the hot sporty sister that was into weight lifting on the weekends and could still run a 4.40 in the 40. The evo was the sister who continued to get nose lifts to look a lot hotter, didn't succeed as much as she would of liked and still only performed just slightly better than the younger gsx. Second! the best 2g was the 95 that came with the lsd rear end and the 4g has a much more stout bottom end. either way i'd take both any day of the week. great vid, keep em coming.
Haha man these analogies ☺️ Come to think of it, I think Jesse has compared different cars to different types of women numerous times before on the channel ☺️
Just picked up my 3000gt over the weekend, it's a project 1993 SL but they've been my dream car ever since I was in high school, was even debating making a RU-vid channel just for documenting the restoration. 3000GT VR-4 wins for me hands down
3000gt is one of the best looking cars ever imo sadly probably wont own one. I had a 99 GSX just like yours, silver on black and all. Regret selling it so much. Love the 4g63, 16psi and awd launches were exhilarating.
The 3000gt definitely turns heads. I had a 91 VR-4 back in high school back when they could still be had for under $8k and a lot of people had no idea what it was. It was great with girls too because they thought it was some really expensive new sports car and that I must have had money....SUCKAS!
Coming from the DSM world for over a decade I went and bought a VR4. VR4's just love to spin bearings, so I dropped a 4g63 in my 3000gt VR4 and never looked back. I am making 550whp and have been daily driving it for 4+ years now. I would never feel comfortable doing that with the factory 6g72's. Either way can't go wrong though! They were the best cars from the 90's in my eyes!
Regarding your last comment, I couldn’t agree more actually. I actually got pulled on by my friend’s GTO stock for stock when I first picked up my A80. The only reason I started reeling him in is because my car was auto. One of my brother’s friends owns a junk yard in Okinawa. He used to tell us stories when all these cars were new he went for the GTO and he used to smash BNR32 GT-Rs on the regular 😂
Everybody knows Mitsubishi 3000gt VR4 gen1 are the most wanted. The 1999 lost most of the gen1 iconic features such as the pop ups, aero spoilers, etc.
The 3000GT VR-4 is still up there on my list. I’m looking for a 1b or 1c if I can’t afford the Corolla GR (if it’s $50k then I’m likely out). If I can steal a 1999 VR-4 for say $30k then that may be the way to go.
I’ve got the 3000GT FWD pearl white and a VR4 both same years 1995 and I’ll never sell either of them. Me at 29 years old there absolute beauty’s. I prefer the white but that black is sexy as hell. Cheers from connecticut brother!
Had a 3000gt 92 vr4 red with Black and cream interior , point was fun when it ran right but after a 6 year run with 2 new trans and a engine rebuild I had the courage to let it go oh yeah and numerous window reg jobs . Great car but a money out and I’m sure the eclipse ain’t far off I’ll pass on both .
You hit the nail on the head man! And also I'm glad you did the video! But ya I think personally for me I choose the eclipse just for 2 reasons. I love cornering and the eclipse can be so much lighter and more nibble, and the biggest reason is for personally working on mine. The 3000gt is just a pain in the ass to get to anything haha! But always a good video :) I do agree I think the 3000 super good looking and that wing is just BA, much cooler then the gsx high rise. Btw I have a gsx lol 😆
I am pretty sure I knew you had an eclipse. Couldn’t remember if you came on during that time or earlier on with the Z content. If money wasn’t a driving factor for me I’d just own both. But my wife’s grocery bills and hair salon trips don’t allow me to hang onto multiple cars at one time. 🙃 Thanks again for the great video idea and comment. 👍🏼
@@therealjessescheel My Mitsubishi collection needs an Evo and I had a 1998 2GB Eclipse GS-T. I currently have a 1988 Starion ESi-R that is mostly restored and i love that thing to pieces. Such an awesome little car. Should've kept the Eclipse for sure though because finding clean ones have become an issue and mine needed nothing. The only good out of letting it go was I paid off a bunch of bills and had just enough money left over to save 1rst gen 3000GT VR-4. So far its working out....😂😂😂 I love the two Mitsubishis I have, I just wish I could have one of each turbocharged beast! Lol
GSX is probably best, better for parts/mods, similar interior space, lighter, better on fuel, etc. I’ve had several 3kgt/stealth RT and eclipse/talon (most many years ago), and the gsx seemed best. Either one is cheap vs a 911 or SL55/63/65 or other similar era German car(90-early 00s) though so probably can’t go wrong (plus no hydraulic suspension or complicated convertible top….unless it’s the spyder, and at that point you’re better off getting an SL55 given a spy vr4 probably would cost a fair amount more
I dunno i still wanna get a dsm before i make the call. Though a 3000gt was always the dream car . I gotta try highway 88 now after watching your video. considering i live right here in glendale. And my all-motor build is just about done. The engine and trans is in the car just buttoning u stuff and getting it ready for its first fire up. might be a cool video an all-motor and vr-4 through that canyon run lol. Wanna see how the difference between the 2
Get her up and running and give it a shakedown on 88 to see what you think. I am sure we will run into each other at a 3k meet or something sometime. Be sure to flag me down if you see me. Best of luck with engine build. 💪🏼😎👍🏼
@2:50 I know EXACTLY! What you’re talking about. I had a Evo VII and it was the exact same way. It used to drive me nuts, but the power band once you’re in boost is pretty decent. Even held off a R34 GT-R on the expressway.
One thing you didn't mention about why '99 Eclipses are more expensive is their interiors are different. They got black leather seats with silver gauges.
@@therealjessescheel Right on! The aftermarket support is incredible for 4G63T. They are pricey to get into but then the modifications/aftermarket are pretty cheap... VR4 seems backwards... cheap to get into but the aftermarket parts are on the expensive side.
Owned a gst / gsx and 3000gt vr4. Have to go with the gsx only on how simple it is to work on / mod / repair. The 3000gt was horrible to work on and replacing turbos was a nightmare mor so the rear.
Vr4 handle boost pretty good sl and rest are good for fun look at me cars can’t handle boost to we’ll unless built 4g63 has unlimited potential as long as you have the funds the motors are getting hard to find and now just about every eclispe you find is about to blow or rigged up just enough to not
@@therealjessescheel can't argue that if you just wanna let it sit and collect value. I've never bought one that I didn't intend to enjoy to the fullest, and for me the 93's put the biggest smile one my face. Best looking, and all the upgrades except for the 6 speed. The active aero system, useless as it was below 120, was still cooler than the combat wing, that I feel doesn't even really fit the flow of the 99 body.
@@arianetrek7049 the 93 only 25 spline 5 speed was the strongest. The 6 speeds have a stronger transfer case, but also have weak bell housing causing it to break. There are aftermarket solutions for both issues
I'm a die-hard DSM guy, but from a purely objective standpoint the EVO is the best car Mitsu ever made. The 3000GT is more luxurious and meant to be a grand-touring car. The DSM's are a great budget-friendly fast performance car. The EVO is just an all-around monster and having 4 doors is the ultimate in practicality...they are just not very nice on the inside because it's just a hopped-up Lancer at the end of the day.
@@CaptainTonus The 3000gt’s are the father of all Mitsubishis dont get it twisted…… they were running high 12’s to low 13’s in the 1/4 mile while completely Stock and would absolutely destroy an Evo especially from a Roll
@@DaytonaBlueHr no they aren't. DSM's were running 10's and 11's at the same time that 3000GT's were barely in the 12's. Not as many people drag raced the early EVOs, but if they did, they'd be just as fast or faster. 3000GT's are fat pigs
Hey I bought a 3000 gt sl coupe (not vr-4 wanted to poor less money into it) it is in that dark shiny green. Is this still desirable? it is 1995. Did not look into the color of the cars too much just looked for the cleanest one I could find. Mine is one owner since 1998. More info than you needed if anyone knows the answer that would be awesome!
Always wondered what one would be like. Unfortunately I don’t think it would do well view wise and finding a clean example is next to impossible. Totally believe it could rip though.
@@therealjessescheel take your tampon out slowly as you continue to prove my point . I guess your right though ..I do prefer AMGs and Vettes over soda cans that break every 200 miles that I "can't afford" good one lol
