@@arminiusrex3501 I have no experience but I wonder if you listen to words in the language you grew up in. Similarly the English language has been said to divide a common people, UK and USA, but it might be an artifact of outlook that pushed apart the meaning of how words are used.
Don't feel bad, Chap. I know plenty of people who wouldn't attempt a 300 meter target with a scope, let alone iron sights. The Swiss competition is a rather hard school in that regard, and I would say that both you and the Bloke are well above the average of most general shooters. Certainly in the original martial sense of the match you were effective on target.
Speaking of "hard school". Most of my colleagues from our local shooting club consider any result below 62 as rather mediocre, unless you were shooting with a K11/31 or IG in an unsupported stance - like Bloke did. (You need at least 57 points to get the medal called "Kranz" if you are between 21 to 59 years old).
That Sir was an excellent example of a superb Rifleman. A G-11, open sights, just superb. To your shooting companion. Beautiful weapon, you may, possibly, have a rifle that as it gets a little dirty there is an impact change. Oh and you should in no way be embarrassed because you shot exceptionally well. Just not your day to win.
Ah and by the way Chap, try firing the winter trigger with one finger in the trigger guard and one finger under...the position is much more natural and it’s still light. That’s how I shoot.
@bloke, your competitions and shooting videos are some of my favorites. I am going to need to make a point of it to get over there to see those competitions in person.
Sorry, I forgot to register my positive enjoyment of your antics, I am not part of the troll army, just another child of the 50. As a target shooter of iron sighted No3 smle 303 in the 60s you have infected me with an almost unhealthy yearning for a K31 if I don’t have to wear the uniform.
Good shooting Guys!! Love watching folks doing long range open sight shooting. I personally am not that good and just don't get the time to 'cheat' and get to a range to practice! Lol, cheat.. love it. Congrats on your medal and Chap, that was very good as well! Just under your medal so, get out and cheat some!
I saw this video just fine in my subscription feed. This video was there, followed by your warning of fuckery being afoot. I don't have notifications enabled for any channel though so I don't get push notifications that pop up on my phone or anything.
Where are you Gentlemen shooting? I live in Switzerland and own several SRs and an Stgw 57. Recently got back into shooting after a 25 year break. Looking for a friendly range.
Here is what I think happened. I think the lack of Chap-cat in the video cursed the chap and moved his groups in a way only Chap-cat magic can. I think Bloke on the Range would benefit greatly from more Chap-cat.
Perhaps Tacticat just needs a cameo? Like a post credits thing to Let viewers know that the Bloke and Chap will be back next week for more adventures in the Swiss country side! But all things being equal I tried this shoot on my own in Canada and can say you handily beat me. Kings to you sir!
Almost reminds me of a running joke my best friend & I have when we go to the range. My groups are usually much better than his & where they should be which I in turn remind him. He: Air force. I: Ground troop. It's all in good fun, good shooting guys.
For the 1911, would you simply do a hasty sling were you to use it? Any way to rig a loop? It’s awesome to see these kind of 300m shooting videos with irons. Unfortunately most people in Missouri only focus on hunting distances (0-200 yd) rather than this kind of competition.
Nice coat ;) Those are Motorfahrer-badges, aren't they? I'm curious, did you buy it? Or are you a Swiss dude who just speaks English really well? :D Nice video!
a 2.2kg trigger seems not so bad, i did some shoot with a MAS 49 and it has a 4kg trigger, there is a lighter trigger for the 49/56 at 3.5kg (numbers from the army parts catalog) and i believe it is the same trigger for the 49/56 MSE (modifié saint-etienne) which was a modification for competition shooting (mostly an adjustable stock with pistol grip and finer iron sights) so yeah, 2.2 doesn't seem that bad
The 2200 g are with winter trigger, just beneath the trigger guard. Without winter trigger it takes 4.4 kg.Before competitions, rifles are inspected by gunsmiths and trigger weight is tested with a go/no go test weight, and usually a 2200 g weight is used www.schiessanlage.ch/pdf/Waffenkontrolle%20SBV_Version%202010.pdf
Is there an exporter that sells and ships Stgw parts to the USA? I have a NIB SG 510 that was sold without a Flash Hider. I would like to buy an original and the front site base with bayonet lug.
The flash hider isn't a separate part, it's integrally machined into the barrel. Talk to Robert at Grünig + Elmiger (you can find them with Google), he'll be able to sort you out with a recycled one cut with the thread of your choice.
@@BlokeontheRange My SG 510 T AMT has a threaded barrel. I was looking for the correct Swiss Made FH for that Barrel. The rifle has never been assembled. The pistol grip and sling are still wrapped in paper and plastic. There is plastic cover around the barrel.
I saw. And one-handed, no less. Congratulations! (Though by the typical reaction at the range when I unpack my Glock, you'd think I'd be lucky to hit the target at all :D "Mit dem Plastikding triffsch doch nüt!" )
fab006 Holding a parabellum two handed is just awkward. I shot equal my lane neighbour who was using a P210 two handed. By rights he should have beaten me easily.
Wired up in hospital one time the drinks trolley lady gave me a cup of tea which within 5 minutes had the alarms ringing and the emergency ressuss team galloping to my rescue , maybe because it was black with a sugar (spare me) .
I have it black no sugar. For some reason the specific combo of tea and milk makes me feel like blowing chunks. It's proof I'm not genetically British ;-)
Great shooting, the pair of you. That is a very interesting electronic scoring device; I must look into that. By the way, Swiss German is practically indecipherable to me (as I'm sure it is for many others). What is the range master saying? Surely it can't be "hey Arschloch," but that's certainly what it sounds like. Cheers!
Haha ... Yes that was also the reason for the Swiss embassy in the old Sowjetunion, to speak through the phones in swiss german only..even the secret service there was unable to understand what they are speaking about..
Years ago the Fass57 was limited only to the central bipod position, in about 1998 the fore position was allowed, granting much better results. Thas for all shooting events. The military Federal events such as the Tiro Federale in Campagna and the Tiro Obbligatorio have always allowed some rest for the K31 and earlier models.
Hello 'Bloke'. Can you tell us about those 'sound deadening tubes'. What is their purpose? What is the electrical connection? Do they truly deaden the sound, don't appear to in the video? Are they commercial items? Thanks. Do keep producing your videos, entertaining and informative. Peter.
Haven't shot through those tubes myself, but have shot at another Swiss range with electronic scoring. The electrical connection may be to tell the scoring system that a shot was fired from this firing point. This means that if someone else shoots on your target (which happens more than you think), it won't be scored for you. I could be wrong, but it's what makes the most sense to me.
That's right, it is an acoustic sensor which correlates with the impact sensor on the target frame. Since only two types of ammo are fired through a set range of rifles, the velocities are known, hence if the frame doesn't register an impact after so many milliseconds, it counts as a miss.
The definition of hipster must have changed recently. I'll have you know that was good strong Yorkshire Tea, not some homeopathic jungle weed handpicked by free roaming sloths high on acid.
You might want to have a look at Jenni Hemden, they are an original manufacturer and will also ship to other countries. shop.jennihemden.ch/original-edelweisshemd-ok-halbgeknoepft-ohne-kragen-3002-p.html
Very nice results! I am impressed. But this is not a real Feldschiessen. You need to attend a Feldschiessen in the Canton of Freiburg where they are organised regionally with 1500-2000 attendees organised in series of 60 participants on natural ground (as you said) in parallel with commanded fire as you had. THAT is a REAL Feldschiessen. :-)
4:36 (I think?), 6:39 My German's not as good as my French so he could just be saying something that sounds like it! Sorry to cause you worry if it isn't.
Bloke on the Range - "but with the blast shield down I can't even see..." The sling is a range shotist's affectation. Before you know it you'll be wanting optics, bags and rimless cartridges.
As you say, it's a range shooting affectation. The kind of shooting being done here is exactly that. Sling support has no place on a battlefield, but that's not where we're shooting - we're doing affected target shooting. You'll note in the mad minute series I have not used a sling, for this very reason.
@@BlokeontheRange Thanks for that bit about the sling. In Northern Ireland the soldiers (loose word, includes RM and others) only seemed to have the sling attached to the butt of their FNs whether they were on static guard or hanging on the back of a Land Rover as it went quickly through the town. The other end was a sewn loop. They put the right hand through that.
Your video is zero and a very bad example, for example we do not shoot at FAS 57 with the bipods in front that if it has been modified for this position is made for burst shooting !!
When on earth was the last time you attended a competition? Most people shoot with it in the forward position these days, and have for ages!
