I shot that ammo out of my Enfield years ago. Its Marked P.O.F. Pakistani Ordinance Factory. It is corrosive, berdan primed, and loqded with cordite. Also, I noticed that I had quite a few hang fires with it as well. And years later I am still pulling stuff out of the barrel after shooting it. I soaked the barrel in Balisol and I still see green on the cleaning patch occasionally.
Those boxes are loaded with 32 rounds for a bren magazine. They hold 32 rounds not 30 or not 28 they hold 32. You may see bren printed on that carton somewhere. Mine do.
The 32 round packs are made for bren guns and can be a little more spicy. If it's loaded with cordite and has not been stored properly it can be very corrosive or you can get hang fires, especialy if stored in nations with warmer climates, sometimes if it's the cordite that's degraded you can just empty the cordite and use modern powder. If its berdan primed and the primers have hang fires then it's mostly a waste. Fine if boxer.
Yes they are very good for pig. Unlike all other "FMJ" ammo, the 303 mk7 has a aluminium or timber filler in the first 1/3 of the projectile. This pushes the centre of gravity closer to the rear. As the bullet hits it tumbles. If it hits bone, it mushrooms very well and tumbles. Everyone sees FMJ and thinks its like all other FMJ. The 30-06 or 8mm early ammo was FMJ with a solid core. If your interested, google 303 mk 7 X-ray. There are a few photos comparing them to era correct enemy ammo. On a side note, the 303 has killed many large game in many countries around the world in the last 100 years. They used the ammo they could get, most of which was surplus.
I have around 1500 surplus rounds. 11 or those are mk 6 all the rest are mk 7 dated from 1943 to 1964. Only had one "click band" thus far. They chronograph consistently around 2400fps. Any rounds that look a bit suspicious i just pull the pill and load it in once fired PPU brass with AR2208.
