303 SQUADRON, the powerful and true story behind the Battle of Britain and the Polish pilots of 303 Squadron, the forgotten legends and their incalculable contribution towards Britain’s World War II’ victory. Its UK premiere arrives in London’s IMAX theatre at The Science Museum on Thursday 8th November and in cinemas nationwide from Friday 9th November across the UK and Ireland.
/ filmdywizjon303
Three years in the making and hot on the heels of its smash hit Box Office success in Poland, which has seen over 1.5 million cinema admissions since its September release, 303 Squadron is the authentic and historically accurate portrayal of how the Polish pilots of 303 Squadron turned the tide in the most seminal battle of World War II and paved the way to victory. Now, some 78-years on from the Battle of Britain, the long-awaited release of 303 Squadron coincides poignantly with the centenary of the RAF, Polish Air Force, Polish Civil Aviation and the reclaiming of Poland’s Independence (11th November) which also marks Remembrance Sunday. With guidance and advice during a private meeting with HRH Michael of Kent, who was also a consultant on Dunkirk, 303 SQUADRON is considered to be an important film. The aerial dogfight scenes are incredible - said to be on a par with Dunkirk.

I just saw the movie. A good war movie, it maybe not a masterpiece, but a good one. But i don't want to write about this. I want to say thank you to the Polish people. To the polish soldiers that died for, let's put on personal, for my freedom. Me, a son of Italy that was fascist at the time. - Poland never officially capitulated. - The Polish forces as a whole were 4th LARGEST Allied army in Europe, after the Soviet Union, United States and Britain. - Polish mathematics contributed in a immense way in breaking the Enigma code (since 1932). - Polish aircrew that fought so bravely in the Battle of Britain, and until the nazi-fascist regimes were destroyed. - Polish soldiers that fought everywhere with their usual bravery, and put their flag on Montecassino, where others failed. - Polish sailors, that gave a more obscure but surely not less important contribution to the victory. - For all the Poles that did not stop to fight after the conquest of their Country, going in foreign States to continue to fight. And nobody was obliging them to to this. To all the young Poles that never got married, never had sons, dying for freedom in their first years as adult. You will be in my heart forever. My thanks will never compare what you gave to me. Still now, in 2020.

A story as incredible as this should have been told better. I hate how the film industry ALWAYS tries to push romance into the audience's throat. All my respect to all these great Polish pilots and soldiers who never bowed their heads. Squadron 303 will forever be a legend. As a pilot, i am thrilled whenever i hear about how difficult the battle in Britain must have been, and even in smaller numbers, they were victorious.

Once committed to action, the Poles flew and fought superbly, shooting down 203 enemy aircraft for the loss of 29 pilots killed. No. 303 Squadron became the most successful Fighter Command unit in the Battle, shooting down 126 German machines in only 42 days. Czech Sergeant Josef Frantisek, also of '303', was the top scoring pilot with 17 confirmed victories.

"England treated these polish pilots like dirt, they should be kissing their backsides. My grandad had respect for the polish pilots." ....given that this trailer depicts the female lead essentially _dictating_ strategy/policy to her apparently inept superior I would take the dubious narrative the film imparts with a hefty grain of salt... ;) It should also be noted that one of the reasons why Polish/European airmen weren't immediately utilised during the Battle of Britain was out of _legitimate_ concern for language/communication difficulties with non-English speaking pilots. ^Bet that salient fact isn't/wasn't in this speculatively motivated film....

@@qusseck I have no doubt you remember your heroes: Just today, in a bus in my town, Genoa, Italy, I met four Polish girls, tourists, I could be easily their grandfather. We spoke some minutes about the war, and I was honoured to say thank you personally to some Poles. They were fully aware about the history and they were (despite their age) really proud about what their grandparents did in the Second World War. The matter of 303 squadron is that as the British still have a 617th squadron, the Dambusters even if they don'y have anymore such a great number of squadrons, you should have a 303th squadron in your (not in USAF) air force. Then, if the original number of that squadron is different, I apologize about my ignorance; nevertheless you could call it "111 eskadra mysliwska (303th squadron)" as many British units have a complex name reminding all their roots. Thank you a lot for your comment, i didn't know anything about it. And, as always, thank you to all the Poles that, as these four young girls told me today, "[we] will always fight for the freedom of the world'. I was wordless when they told me that. By the way, I was surprised that such young girls knew about your history, while they were surprised a foreigner knew about the brave efforts the Poles did in world War Two.... Sincerely, Carlo.

Actually as an Australian of part Polish extraction I visited Poland during the Communist era. I never saw one Russian soldier, but quite a few Polish Milicia. My Polish relatives complained about their own Polish Milicia and the Polish Communist Government, and hardly mentioned the Soviet Union or their soldiers. Sure the Warsaw Pact nations could be seen as the USSR's satellites and Soviet troops were based in these countries in case NATO attacked, but they were governed by their own frightful Communist Regimes who willingly sought the backing of the Kremlin. Only in the Hungarian Revolution and the Czech Spring did the Soviet troops, and sadly Polish troops, intervene, but never in Poland which gave rise to the Solidarity Movement that sparked the beginning of the end of the Iron Curtain. So let's be clear on that point - no Soviet occupation of Poland was in place as was the case when the swaggering Germans marched in and were finally kicked out during 1944-45.. The fact that Poland was sold out to the Soviet sphere of influence is another matter. As was the post war hunting down of AK resistance fighters who were loyal to the London based Polish Government by mainly the Polish Secret Police with the assistance of the NKVD. In reality it was mainly Polish communists suppressing their own citizens with the backing of the USSR. Not exactly an occupation, particularly as the Soviets made a big deal of liberating Poland from the barbaric and murderous Germans together with the First and Second Polish Armies. And, no, I am not a fucking communist or Russina/Soviiet apologist, and, yes, I remember the Molotov and Ribbentrop Alliance and the Katyn Massacre as well as the 1940 deportation of 1.6 Poles to Siberia and elsewhere. I know it all and I hate the bullshit about Poland being a Soviet occupied country when there were enough Polish communist arseholes willing to suppress their own. That said, I am still proud of my part Polish heritage.

There is a male instinct that you will never understand biologically. It has nothing to do with being equal male vs female as we are biologically different. Even between males, some feel it more. Put it this way, As a male, If someone killed my family, I would want revenge. If I wasn't able to act out my revenge alone, I would Join someone else who also wanted revenge or to defend their own. Two of us would have a better chance, even though I had already lost my family. Do not disrespect the decisions made by your Polish forefathers, they had their reasons. The UK had massive Naval and Air superiority whilst defending Britain, there's a reason Operation Sea Lion was cancelled, Britain was a fucking fortress. On top of that, we like to actually train our troops to minimize casualties. We only lost about 450,000 people, including both Military and Civilian casualties. We took in displaced Poles and trained the men who wanted to fight, we never forced them to fight, we even took in the Polish government in Exile. Take the Soviet Union for example, they just threw troops towards Germany on the eastern front losing millions of lives, they didn't give a fuck about their people. We also gave the Poles who fought for us the Polish Resettlement Act allowing Polish nationals to reside in the UK and other parts of the world after Poland fell behind the iron curtain. Britain was incredibly liberal compared to most other counties at that time. You have to remember WW2 was won as a collective of all Allies, not a singular country. @Agnieszka you really have no clue, do you? I, like a massive majority of Brits, have massive respect for all Polish Nationals who fought for us during the War. Why can't you show us a little respect? @@joeyreidelbach5509 Useless fucking slack arsed yanks. If the US had REALLY wanted to "help Britain", then instead of bleeding the British empire dry and causing its collapse, they could have for example sold a production license for Tetra Ethyl Lead (The compound required for the production of hi-octane fuels) to Britain when we applied to purchase one prewar. ... instead they refused to sell one to "their British cousins"... A "special relationship" indeed. Where there nazi sympathies in the Standard Oil boardroom? The truth is so unsavoury were the business practices of the US "Standard Oil" company (such as seeking furtive routes and brokering shady deals to supply nazi Germany with fuel and oil via neutral nations during the war) that it's activities were investigated and closely monitored by the US Govt... but only AFTER the they had been DRAGGED into WW2 in Dec 1941 by the German delcaration of war on the US!!! The "Standard Oil of Jersey City" company had NO qualms though about providing the exact same licence to the nazis prewar. But when it came to Britain the US preferred to strip the British of ALL their gold, cutting edge technology and military bases around the world during the British "hour of need" in return for a supply of amongst other things, US produced hi-octane fuel. The US "business community" engaged in VERY profitable business dealings with BOTH sides throughout WW2. US corporations such as Ford, General Motors, US Standard Oil, IBM, Kodak, Chase Bank (to name but a few) carried on "business as usual" with nazi Germany THROUGHOUT WW2. Ford's auto production facility in Cologne and General Motor's Opel subsiduary plant in Berlin were both busy working 24/7 THROUGHOUT WW2 furnishing the nazis with approximately 60% of the Wehrmacht's military transportation needs, as well as a sizeable chunk of the Luftwaffe's aero engine requirements... all the better for attacking Britain with eh? The "ALuminum COrporation of America" (ALCOA) for instance supplied SO much aircraft grade aluminium to nazi Germany in the late 1930s and into the early 1940s that it actually caused shortfalls within the US government's own military aircraft production schedules, so much so that in June 1941 the situation prompted Harold Ickes, US Secretary of the Interior, to go on record as saying “If America loses this coming war, it can thank the Aluminum Corporation of America”. I love these 21st century retellings of historical stories. I was in the RAF and have always had a great fondness for the Polish people, especially after having known one who flew during the Second World War. But to see this trailer portraying the Royal Air Force as a bunch of heartless bastards, the female as being the only one with a conscience, and the Polish Air Force as being the only noble fighters, well, I find it despicable. These people (the British and the Polish men) fought and died for our freedom. The females back home in England took on the roles of the men who were deployed and also joined the Armed Forces in a support role only. Why are they now continually shown to be the only ones with consciences? Why do we have to pander to the SJW/Feminist mentality even when we're making historical war movies? The movie 'Suffragette' was set in 1912 and portrayed all the men as either pathetic, immoral, or rapists. It failed to mention that these 'male scum' would be dying in trenches two years later while trying heroically to defend these same women. We have to stop this feminist narrative that men are the disease and women are the cure. Because it's bollocks. People are people. We're all flawed.

I agree. The Poles did have an input, and credit to them. The way I understand it is that they weren't even invited to the VE parade because of Stalin. They feel their input has been neglected for over 50 years and understandably are trying to make up for that. However large their input, they were on our side till the end even defeated. No Pole ever joined the SS unlike the French, Belgiun, Norwegian etc. All in all, Duxford museum states that over 17 000 Polish pilots flew for the RAF in WW2. They do deserve recognition because they were on our side, and Christians like we were then.

I'm in my fifties and of Polish ancestry and just learning of this contribution by the Pols. My father's family had already immigrated to the USA by the time WWII broke out. My grandfather dropped out of college to enlist and served as a navigator and pilot in the Pacific theater. He stayed in after the war and retired while stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. Sadly, he passed away before I got to know him and I don't recall my father mentioning this part of our history. I'm angry at the poor education I received and how long it took for someone to officially recognize this brave contribution to the Allied victory in film. Recently I learned of the bravely of the Winged Hussars and the Battle of Vienna. God willing, I hope to visit Poland and get to see this great land of my father's.

303 Squadron is a Polish War movie based on true events of dogfights during Battle of Britain 1940. To fight n destroy Luftwaffe and Nazi Invasion of England was the goal. Air Marshall Dowding was the Commander of RAF while Luftwaffe Air Marshall Goering had his plans worked out to invade Britain. Battle of France was over but Battle of Britain was on. 4-5 months of hellish n nightmarish dogfights bw RAF vs Luftwaffe. It was Duel to the death in the skies over London. Sky was killed with loads bombers and fighters. More n more pilots went up from both sides while fewer came back but in the end England was saved. The Real Glory of War is surviving - The Big Red One First Casualty of War is innocence - Platoon (Respects from India to RAF)

Last Sunday, the English propaganda film Battle of Britain was shown on TV. It is worth remembering that in this battle, 151 Polish pilots shot down 203 German planes. The case was raised by the portal of the National Armed Forces. Polish 303 Squadron was the best among all those fighting in this battle. It is also worth remembering that after the war, the British government ordered to pay itself with gold for lending Poles fuel, airplanes and airports, which we took from Warsaw in September 1939. In order to shed Polish blood in defense of England, we had to pay the Angolas with Polish gold. The settlement is as follows: Bill issued to the Polish Air Force by His Majesty's Government: Total maintenance costs of the Polish Air Force in 1939-1945. Funds allocated by His Majesty's Government to the Polish Government as a loan of £ 9,606,000 Funds allocated to: airplanes, engines, equipment, materials for operational flights and training, food, uniforms, accommodation, fuel, light, transport, medical assistance materials for maintenance and maintenance aircraft, including fuel, bombs, ammunition, explosives. Use of airport installations such as hangars, workshops, offices etc. until December 31, 1945 £ 90,044,000 Total £ 107,650,000. Everything was covered from the reserves of Polish gold deposited in Canada.

Complete bollocks. While celebrating the bravery, skill and success of Polish "Kościuszko" 303 sqd, the top scoring RAF squadron of the battle of Britain, also remember the other nationalities who flew as part of the squadron during the battle and who contributed SO much to its success. Polish "Kościuszko" 303 Sqd total kill tally - 58.5 confirmed kills Squadron commander, Sqd Ldr Ronald Gustave Kellett (British) - 5 confirmed kills "A" Flight commander, Fl Lt John Alexander Kent (Canadian) - 6 confirmed kills "B" Flight commander, Fl Lt Athol Stanhope Forbes (British) - 7 confirmed kills. Sgt pilot Josef František (Czechoslovakian) - 17 confirmed Kills. We in the UK remember ALL the pilots (and NOT just the Polish ones). As for Poles having to pay for their own equipment and supplies, So what? Are you yet ANOTHER contemporary Polish freeloader who expects the British taxpayer to bankroll the POLISH war effort? JUST £109 Million to see nazi tyranny and death camps removed from Polish soil, what a BARGAIN !!! Guess what? After the end of WW2 the United Kingdom had to repay a total of over £100 BILLION (Thats +£100,000,000,000 or over NINE HUNDRED TIMES MORE THAN THE COST TO POLAND) to the US for the goods and services they SOLD to us during WW2, it may surprise you that the British war effort wasn't funded by US charity. We only finished repaying off that amount in 2006. We pay for our war effort, YOU pay for YOURS. P.S On your way out remember to bow at the altar to the 460,000 British citizens who died in the fight to overthrow the nazi tyranny that murdered Poland. You silly clueless lefty pricks.

Polish P51's intercepted ME262's that were attacking Lancasters from 50, 61 and 617 Squadron on the 9th of April 1945. My dad was in the rear turret of QR-T from 61 Squadron. He said he was shooting at one of the jets as it went through the squadron after it'd shot down a Lancaster from his squadron. A P51 attacked the jet and destroyed it. The Luftwaffe lost 4 jets claimed by pilots from 319 squadron and 50 and 61 lost a Lancaster each. My dad told me this when I was a kid in the 60's and I'd always assumed the Mustangs were USAAF. My dad died in 1998 and I only found out the Mustangs were Polish a few years so i don't know whether he knew or not. I was taught from an early age that Britain didn't win the war on it's own despite what brexiters think.

@Columbo Bumbo My late Polish father served with the Free Polish Forces. He resented the Brits for not inviting the Polish,, who comprised the fourth largest fighting force after the USSR, USA, and Britain, to their victory parade so as to not upset Stalin. Yet, strangely enough, Stalin invited members of the Ist and 2nd Polish Armies which fought alongside the Red Army all the way to Berlin and Dresden, to his 1945 Moscow Victory Parade. While Britain told the Poles to go home to their now repressive communist country Australia rolled out the red carpet to Polish veterans. Polish ex-servicemen associations were supported by the Australian Returned Servicemen's League. Australian books and documentaries, as well as a 1950s movie about the Rats of Tobruk, mentioned the Poles fighting in Tobruk and the North African Campaign, while British and Americans do not. The omission of the overall Polish WW2 contribution has allowed the defamers, including many Polish hating Brits, to increasingly claim that Poland was a Nazi collaborating nation. It is about time people got educated otherwise the historical revisionists will win out.

Anything that makes the Poles look good will never be shown in America as long as Polish hating Jews and Germans hold sway in that country. I note that Polish heroes of the American Revolution, Pulaski and Kosciuszcko never rate a mention in American movies, documentaries or history books. And, there certainly won't be any mention of the early pioneer Jamestown Poles who were brought in as craftsmen and glassblowers to help the first Jamestown English settlers. Even the grandsons of Sadowski (nee Sandusky) who were scouts for the great Daniel Boone as he colonised Kentucky have never been mentioned anywhere. Shit, I am an Australian and I notice how the millions of Polish Americans are not acknowledged for the contribution their ancestors made to the building of what they call the fucking USA. No sorry, USA helped USSR a lot. Please stop believing revisionist Kremlin inspired history that mighty Soviet Union crushed the Germans. First, US Lend-Lease program sent B-17s. P-51s, P-39 Aircobras and US made Lee/Grant and Stuart tanks to the USSR. These helped Stalin's war effort. If you watch the movie "Enemy at the Gates" you hear a Soviet officer telling his men that if you don't have a gun, then get one from one of your dead comrades or a dead German. So he USSR was woefully under armed and under supplied. Second, the US - Canadian invasion allowed a second front to open up and thereby force the Reich to fight against two enemies. US, British and Canadian forces could have easily reached Berlin but were told to wait so Red Army could go in first. The Red Army....saw photos of two dead and naked German women after the Red Army raped them and killed them. yes the glorious USSR (fuck Stalin). Must add, 250 thousand Poles fought bravely alongside with the British soldiers against Germans. Tens of thousands have falen; after the war, the British shamelessly betrayed Poland selling Poland into Russians. Needless to say, not single Polish soldier participated in Victory Parade in 1946. About million polish people suffered, because of British. In 1989, when Poland regained independence, Poland's government requested return of gold that had been deposited in Britain in 1939, right when Germany attacked Poland. Instead, the British government send us a bill to pay for fighting for their cause. Till now, the Brits didn't return what's not theirs. This is the British thing to do. We used to have 4 Squadrons as well.. Our best pilot was Karel Kuttelwascher. Karel Kuttelwascher has 18 victories confirmed during the war - the largest number among the Czechoslovak pilots, although the most often reported is twenty (two aircraft in France in 1940). He is also considered as the best RAF night-time pilot.

A decent film, but not the best I have seen about the heros of the 303. "Hurricane" is much better.

My son became sick of superhero films and at the same time I became sick of hyped up over dramatized modern WWII films. This is another one I will be skipping. Right now the best WWII films are coming out of Russia, Scandinavia, and Denmark.

Yes certainly Over dramatized - this is my opinion as a Pole. Another Hollywood like in style with 'lots of Action'

Tosh! Total tosh. They went into the Battle on the 2st of September, the battle was being won. So how do these people try and demean 1700 RAF pilots from the UK and Commonwealth by saying 98 super men pilots from Poland saved our backsides. A travesty! And by the way, their top Scorer was not Polish, he was Czech
