Brazil requires an outgoing ticket, because it happens to be one of those countries where it doesn’t matter where you are from, you’ll look Brazilian. That ends up bringing a lot of people on the run, to try and hide in Brazil. Also the Brazilian passport is the most sought after in the black market for the same reason!

Rio looks like a beautiful city! You were on the 'good' side of the plane flying in and were able to get some breathtaking shots. As a long time subscriber, when you hit that low point at the airport in Sao Paulo, it reminded me of your Russian train journey! Yes, the stress of travel on top of a lack of sleep can take its toll. Looking forward to seeing more of Brazil over the next few weeks. Safe travels!

These video's that are mainly travel video's really are great. I love the fact that you always are free to share your feelings and how you feel during those long stretches of being on a plane and fooling around inside an airport terminal. Yep, they want to make sure you're not going to plop yourself down and try to use their public resources such as healthcare, welfare, etc. It's a shame we don't require that in the U.S.

@@msjannd4 oh boy, the US certainly does require a lot more of its foreign visitors, but Canada is pretty easy to enter; I don't need a visa nor have I ever had to prove when I was leaving. My little country is pretty strict with the "proof you're leaving" thing...

@@turk223 Canada might be easy for you but not for me, which is why I have visited Canada twice (USA>50 , Europe in general > 15) . Canada is in fact,the only country that literally hounds its own citizens as to whether they are smuggling alcohol/tobacco ....its pretty crazy. On top of that I can guarantee you with 100% certainty that , if you are just visiting Canada, you MUST have a return ticket as part of the entry requirements listed in TIMATIC (which is the db that lists entry requirements worldwide)

Well it was worth a little hell to get to experience Rio with your mom for your birthday. I honestly hate being in airports for long periods of time waiting for or between flights, because it's boring down time. But if I could fly where I want to go I'd be happy to brave the hell. Actually, requesting proof of an onward ticket is a common procedure among check-in agents assigned to international flights. If a passenger arrives at their next destination without an onward or return ticket, three things can happen: 1) The passenger is denied entry (immigration officials fear someone can overstay, becoming an illegal immigrant); 2) The airline who transported the passenger can incur a fine, sometimes quite hefty 3) That poor agent who checked in the passenger gets called into the supervisor's office.

Hi Alina! Yes, takeoff, fly, land, disembark, find next gate, board, repeat - that’s gets to be so familiar. I don’t, but I do, kinda miss it. I’m definitely a window seat guy, because the landscape and night scenery is the most beautiful and serene component. I think it’s amazing how the bigger terminals have incorporated the “mall” experience - as if you would actually fly there just to shop their stores! That would be a bit fanatic. But I did enjoy seeing unique stores when I encountered them. There’s no place like your destination hotel, though, when you’re ready for sleep! Just lock that door and snooze away. BTW, happy belated birthday. Hope you and your Mom had a great time in Rio (now that you’ve had your livestream, we all know). Beaming you peace and comfort!

you can buy tickets and cancel within 24 hours with most airlines.. and other sites you can buy for a low cost for a real ticket that you can cancel as well.... this will satisfy most of the countries enter requirements in having a ticket. just need to cancel after entering within number of hours later.

Many counties requier that you have a return ticket. What you do is that you buy a ticket that is refundable. Then you cancel it when you are in the country.

When I left Medellin on Feb 12th, I got my rapid antigen test the day before at Las Americas clinic in the San Fernando Mall in Poblado. They took the swab at 10:00 am and I received the results by email at 1:15 pm. Cost was 80,000 COP (USD 20). Worth the peace of mind before going and reduced hassle at the airport.

As you travel more internationally you will learn that many countries require proof of an onward ticket. If you think about it, it actually does make sense. If you’re staying for long periods of time you’d have to apply for the appropriate visa for that country. Always research before traveling forward about the onward ticket requirements.

I've taken 5-6 hour flights, and always had the feeling by 3-4 hours I could not wait to get off the plane. Between airports and flying, the travel day was 8-12 hours. You did almost three of those in one day. Holy Hell. LOL I bet that was...uhh...no fun.

Many countries require a ticket of onward travel. Colombia & Philippines for sure... i suggest getting the drive thru antigen test the day before your flight next time.

@@AlinaMcleod are you sure it is 24 hours?? In my country it doesn't matter. Anytime the day before is fine. You dont even get out of your car. The worker swabs your nose & you get the results 1-3 hours later vía email

@@JohnnieV Yes, they check time stamps here, has to be 24hrs before your departing flight to Brazil. So I would have to get my test after 3pm somewhere in the city so it's easier to just do it at the airport instead of running around elsewhere.

Now you are in Brazil so enjoy this country a lot with your mother. Remember in Brazil you can visit Matto Grosso where most Russian out of Russia live now and they are very prosperous agricultures in Primavera del Este. All their lands back in Russia were confiscated by Communist specially Stalin and they fled to Brazil with their know how and today they export food to the rest of the world. Also there are many German Russian communities in Blumenau, Joinville, Novo Hamburgo, Pomerode Santa Catarina and also Pomeranians who fled from Hitler and Communist in North Of Europe. If you would like to listen many languages already disappeared in North of Europe you have to go the South of Brazil. Enjoy the democracy out of dictators in Canada and Russia.

Rent a bike for a day and bike towards Ipanema, along the waterfront,,(its also a nice walk) ,,,, I also found a small lake to bike around,,,,,,,I found Ipanema a little nicer and less crowed then copacabana .i rented an apartment in Ipanema for a week...........very safe and not far from a subway station......I also took a group tour to one of the favels, nice.........again,,,,,,,,,,very safe with a tour.

Now you mention it was your first time flying in Avianca, did you know that Avianca was the first airline to be created in the Americas, and the second one of the whole world (after KLM)? It started as a Colombo-German association called SCADTA, created in Barranquilla. In the 1940s it fused with an airline called SACO, and the name "Avianca" (Aerovías Nacionales de Colombia) appeared. In 2012, it fused with TACA, an airline from El Salvador, and the name changed to Avianca (Aerovías del Continente Americano). It now has the second biggest fleet in Latin America, and its headquarters are located at Bogotá. It has two social HQ, located at St. Albans, U.K., and at Barranquilla.
