Tipper just wanted to share that I met Merle Haggard at the Nashville airport in 1980. I had just gotten married that morning and my husband was flying to Houston to a new job. I was walking along and saw Merle sitting alone in one of the lounges. I couldn't pass up the chance to meet him. He was so gracious and very down to earth. I asked him for an autograph and the only paper I had was my marriage certificate! He signed the back of it. A day I'll never forget and a treasure for sure. I love his version of Blaze Foley's If I Could Only Fly.

My mother told me, "Tell me who you are with and I will tell you who you are." She also told me, "Its's better to be alone than in bad company." These two sayings have kept me out of trouble from childhood until now. Especially in childhood when I would be so eager to have friends. It is really nice to Celebrate Appalachia with you early morning while baking bread. Many happy anniversaries to you and Matt.

Happy Anniversary to yall! My husband and I were married for only 17 years and God took him home. I always dreamed of us growing old together but God had different plans. Thankfully I had our two babies to help me go on. He's been gone for 22 years now and I still miss him so. Everyone please cherish your mate and as Tipper says cherish each and every day, not just the so called special days.😊

Like I told my husband. When he came home from work and I little girl would be dirty from me letting her play outside. He would not like it and I told him we have plenty of soap and she comes clean. When she had our grandson he was same way. He held him in shower , taught him how to put his head under water then check his little shoes to be sure they were clean. As for me I just let them play.

God just called home my dear friend who introduced me to Merle Haggard 17 years ago. He was also a country musician with a band. My heart is so sad. I cry for myself as I know he is singing Merle songs in heaven. Your comments about your father touched my heart. Thank you for always sharing your thoughts on the things that really matter in life. Happy Anniversary! Puhleez . . . you're not old. My uncle and aunt acknowledged their 67th anniversary on August 24, having lived here in the community all but one or two years. They helped their son and daughter-in-law conduct the last day of an estate sale in a nearby town, then stopped for a restaurant supper before heading home. Never forget your anniversary.

Among my favorite Merle Haggard songs is “ I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore”. My husband and I agree that we have experienced so many good things and endured so many hard things that we are ready to move on Home . We cannot imagine how people who are not Christians can face their tomorrows without the hope of Heaven. How would anything make sense without Jesus?

I always loved Merle Haggard too. His song “Big City”, reminds me of my dad, who worked so hard, all his life, to make ends meet, while raising 12 children. Today is the 8th anniversary of my mom’s death. They are together again. 🙏🏻

The song “ Okie From Muskogee “ I was born in Muskogee and live 15 miles just outside Muskogee in Braggs, Merle’s Mom and Dad were Okies that Lived in Checotah Ok , just South of Muskogee, didn’t get any better than Merle Haggard songs. Happy Anniversary ! Tipper and Matt

The way I am is my favorite Merle haggard song too! I remember when I was itty bitty my grandma in Louisiana would take me around everywhere with her, the old feed store, beauty shop, her Kiwanis meetings, redbud parade. And everyone was always so surprised when I would know all the old timey songs 🤣❤️ I still listen to them today. Happy anniversary to a precious couple! Prayers for many many more wonderful years🎉

Happy Anniversary Matt and Tipper! Thirty years is quite an accomplishment these days! My late husband and I had 38 wonderful years together. People don't take their wedding vows serious at all anymore. I know you and Matt do and because they grew up with parents who took their marriages seriously, Corie and Austin do as well. I heard a wonderful word of advice from an older lady a while back. Her name is Louzene Wilson but folks call her Granny. When asked by her granddaughter, Corie, if she had any words of wisdom for her fans, she said, "Always be kind." Best advise I ever heard.

Good morning and Happy Anniversary! I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. Besides your cooking videos, I enjoy when you just talk to us and tell your stories. I made a major move to a new state 10 yrs ago and shortly afterwards I became disabled, so my work was cut short and don’t have any friends out here, so I really enjoy your videos and listening to you. You seem like someone I would be friends with and seem like you have a very good soul. You’ve got a peaceful spirit about you and I’m sensing an ornery side too. Lol. So thank you. Merle was great! I love The Way I Am also. Sooo many to choose from. Great catalog of music. Believe it or not, he’s my hubs cousin! Never met him though.

I reckon Merle Haggard WOULD have gladly played with your Pap, given the chance. He always struck me as down-to-earth, 'home folks' like that. I know the house he had in Bakersfield...by today's standards (how 'stars' live), it was modest/reasonable, not crazy fancy. I wonder if there's anybody even close to like he was, nowadays! I'm with you and Matt on Merle Haggard. He wrote so many songs that no one else could sing as well. My two favorites were "Holding Things Together" and "It's not love, but it's not bad." Johnny Rodrigues had a slightly better voice with more range, but other people wrote most of his music. Love y'all.
