Colour film clips of 3 events at the 1956 South Pacific Road Racing Championships; the Sedan Handicap race, the Sports Car Championship and the Sedan Championship. At this time Coupes were considered as Sedans, so there are cars such as a couple of Jaguar XKs, a Bristol 404 and an Aston Martin DB2 in the mix. I suppose another way to classify the cars in the Sedan events would be Closed or Touring cars.
Coincidently the winners for these 3 races were Jaguars; Frank Hann in a Jaguar Mark V 3.5 Litre won the Handicap race (Event 2), Allen Gray in an XK140 OTS (Roadster) won the South Pacific Championship for Sports Cars (Event 3) and Max Paterson in an XK140 FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) won the South Pacific Championship for Sedan Cars (Event 5). Unfortunately there wasn't any footage of the Racing Car Championship.
Honourable mentions are Reg Hunt in the Lukey Mufflers entered #27 Ford V8 in the Sedan races and Bob Weintraub in the #92 Healey Silverstone (Riley Healey in the programme) in the Sports Car race. This Silverstone was the second prototype built by Donald Healey in 1949.
