I always thought the ttagline on the Evil Dead remake “the most terrifying film” was a tribute to the original, which was always quoted as the most terrifying & brutal film when I grew up.

I felt the same way when I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake in theaters! That movie and the first Final Destination were my scariest movie experiences. Child’s Play 2 is one of my all time favorite horror movies also!

Child's play 2019 is such a clever movie, have seen it a few times now and there is a lot more subtext to it than you would think. You really see the friendship between Andy and Chucky, which was never shown before. It's a different type of movie to the original, I'd place it very high in my list. Excellent soundtrack as well

Prequels have always been divisive but I believe they occur when writers have run out of fresh ideas and think that giving every key character and element of the narrative a back story somehow imparts greater gravitas. The vast majority of prequels I'm aware of, regardless of genre, have won far higher acclaim from critics than fans, which is significant! When I start a book I don't immediately turn to page minus one! Thanks for keeping life interesting Cody👍😄👋

That opening kicked ass! I know you aren't big on lists but Ill put mine on here at some point because in a thing like this its hard not to just put your list up also. I know I have Childs Play way lower then almost anyone. not the entire series but the original, i just don't like it that much. My being a late teen when it came out may be why i don't like it as much as many. Its not at the bottom of my list but its far lower then most people would have it. Really cool list as always, love all the effort put in this!! I'm just sad that the first 2 TCM films are so low because they're some of my favorites lol Anyway here goes for a top 10: 10 - Scream 4. The best Scream sequel, best Ghostface reveal, best kills in the series. 9 - Cult Of Chucky. I'M SORRY OKAY but this is one of my favorite Chucky sequels mainly because it's very artistic and I actually dig the humor of the movie. I'm sorry for this sacrilege lmao 8 - Psycho. I would put this above Psycho 2 because of the suspense, the masterful camera work and the great plot, but I 100% agree some of the acting is way too.. dated 7 - Child's play 2. The only thing you can do to get on par with a classic is make a super fun, balls to the wall sequel and god damn does Child's Play 2 kick some ass. 6 - Psycho 2. It doesn't have all of the charm that the original does, but the upped gore, the still relevant plot, and especially the acting make me like it a bit more. Also Meg Tilly 😩👌 5 - Evil Dead 2. Speaking of fun sequels, this one is one of the most fun to me and the horror/comedy blend actually works pretty well 4 - Scream 1. It's not because it revitalized the horror genre, or because of the whodunnit aspect, or even the meta stuff that I love it so much, it's because of that god damn opening scene. 3 - Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. By far the most fun sequel I've seen to a horror movie, and come on... Chop Top is like top 10 horror icon 2 - the original Child's Play. The only thing that puts it above Child's Play 2 for me is that I love the whodunnit aspect at the beginning, it's pretty unsettling to think Andy could be the one doing the killing. 1 - The original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. God what a masterpiece, I love every single aspect of it and I could talk about it for hours. P.S. FOR NEXT YEAR'S 31 ON THE 31ST YOU SHOULD TOTALLY INCLUDE THE UNBREAKABLE TRILOGY

I respect your opinion on Evil Dead 2 and understand your stance (going all in on horror or comedy instead of trying to make both work).
