Here are 31 years worth of Halloween commercials! Well, technically just commercials from 1985 all the way to 2016, but still! Hope anyone watching this enjoys it, and sorry for any sub-par editing. Happy Halloween!
I grew up in a tiny town. There was always that 1 house that was super over the top with music outside, flashing lights in the windows, fog machines, etc.
Too bad. I was born in 1981. I had a chance to experience the last Glory days of Halloween. The late 80's into the mid 90's we're the best for Halloween. Today, I can't understand why we even celebrate it anymore. Back then, parents weren't trick or treating with their kids. We all went out with our friends. Festivities began after school and we were out in the neighborhood until 10:30 at night. None of this hour and a half nonsense. I guess those days are gone for good.
@@paulbier2182 Same. I avoided any friends that had parents with them unless they were driving to the "Rich People" neighborhoods. Otherwise, it was fun to just wander with pals for hours looking at house decorations, pinpointing which ones had the best candy, and judging who had the best costumes and makeup. Halloween used to be alot of fun. When I was 13 in the mid 90's, a house turned me down for being too old to Trick or Treat, so I stopped doing it. Which is around when the holiday started going downhill anyway.
I can still remember walking the neighborhood when I was 7. I remember staying out until the last house turned off their lights. The thing that ruined Halloween, was an over emphasis on safety. To see the young generation of today trick or treating for an hour, it makes you wonder if these kids will ever live a real childhood.
I really would too, the commercials I saw growing up were worth waiting for the break, now I record everything just so I can fast forward thru them all
There was effort especially with some of the animations. The ones more recent seem more fixated on cinematic horror instead of just wholesome family halloween fun. I wanted some more, I don't know "Halloweeness" if you will, put some more pumpkins in there man and some more trick or treating! 🎃
It’s not just the commercial it was the quality businesses used to have when they effort put into fun activities. Like those McDonald pales they put effort into their products but Everything seems to be the same soulless gimmick today. Well, its still fun to reminisce.
I miss being a kid. I used to get excited about Halloween and going to toysrus to pick a costume going trick-or-treating. however October is still my favorite time of year.
@Ren Helene in my town, there aren't that many trick or treaters anymore. I don't ever run out of candy anymore. And the younger ones in my household don't come back with huge hauls like me and my siblings used to get. Halloween is dying out slowly in some places from the looks of it.
@Action Anime Jackson goddamn that is pretty lame. At this rate, they're gonna kill Halloween if that sort of thing starts spreading to other places that it hasn't already.
@Action Anime Jackson What part of Arkansas do you live in? I live in Northwest Arkansas and we don't have those rules here, but Halloween sure is dying out over here.
agreed. got kinda sad when i remembered the years where I was still excited for halloween as a tween, but a lot of my friends were growing out of it and were too cool to dress up. Soon, like you mentioned, I didnt recognize any of these commercials.
I can’t wait for Halloween, every September and October I start off with some Halloween nostalgia ads and Horror movies 🎃🖤 {can’t wait for 2019 Halloween!}
Seeing these commercials from back in the day make me sad. Makes me realize they don't celebrate Halloween like they used to. Only Halloween commercials you see now a days are for candy. I wish we can go back to those days.
I know, what the hell happened to him? I remember being a kid and wanting to meet him, i thought he was a celebrity. I finally got to meet him when when i was 10, but it wasn't what i was expecting.
Halloween lives on in our hearts and minds, I celebrate it the whole month of October by binge watching horror movies, Halloween episodes of shows, and playing a new horror game for the month when I have time
Me too! Now that it's 2019, I'll be do something all throughout the month of October until Halloween! New drawings, watching It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and make all kinds of spooky videos! Even though I'm 19 now, I still love Halloween! 👻
@@rainqueen6034 pretty much any zombie game, Silent Hill, Deadspace, im trying to get into the Resident Evil series. And tje rest are just really onscure horror games like: The Suffering, Condemned Criminal Origins, Obscure, etc.
He was telling us that Halloween should be warm and friendly instead of spooky. Fuck that. He should have spent his time making poor Edward a pair of damned hands!
Anyone remember that old commercial with the dad and the son standing outside of a really well decorated house. And the son says “why don’t you go” and then the dad says “you go you’re Superman” I think it was a Kmart commercial.
I remember watching Halloween episodes from Regular Show, Spongebob, Phineas and Ferb, goosebumps and many more it always made me hyped up for Halloween! But theres no throwbacks and I'm genuinely dissapointed
I remember at elementary schools teachers decorated for Halloween inn and out the classroom offices too now that I have my kids I don't see no one decorating like before iv asked once to my child's teacher why they didn't decorate she said that there's a lot of parents that don't accept things like that because of there religions I guess more different religions are taking over i dont know but its true more and more i see less trick or treaters and less people decorate i love halloween its my favorite time of year I'm for ever going to celebrate it with my children🎃
Halloween is close to dead in my neighborhood a few kids moved in recently so it keeps it going, but what I really admire is even though not many kids come around on Halloween the neighbors like to have fire pits outside the house with food and still make it a party even if no trick or treaters come by
It's pretty interesting how the brain works, I can truly remember these very early 90's commercials once I see them but it'd be impossible to recall them before re-watching them. It's like the are in my memory but hidden.
We have high technology today, but I have to admit life in the 21st century feels like a shadow, all sizzle no steak. I grew up in the '70s as a kid and Halloween was incredible.
6:32 the fact it's 1994, a full 11 years after any Star Wars film and 5 years before the prequels, and they're still selling Star Wars costumes goes to show the how popular those movies were with kids.
So nostalgic. I miss the 90s. I experienced my first haunted house in 94’ with my older brother and his friends. Scariest night of my life but the most fun and memorable. They put me in front of the group on purpose 😂 I’ll never forget it.
I sit in a rocker on my front porch, dressed up like a dummie with newspapers in my pant legs and shirt sleeves, I sit kind of slumped with a big bowl of candy next to me. anyone brave enough to take some candy gets a BIG SCARE!!!! one year I had some kids bring their mom back after dad had brought them, they got some Fun from that.
It's really funny the 1991 commercial was a beer commercial. They was the year my dad turned 21. 😂 Crazy to think I'm almost 21 now(February 23rd, 2020)
In the 2nd ad with Ronald McDonald and the chicken McNuggets making new sauces for McDonalds, do you think the nuggets realised that *they* were the things that would be dipped and eaten in the sauce?
that's the weird thing about the McNuggets, they want to be eaten, they're disappointed if they don't get eaten, so they made the sauces extra good so you would eat all your Chicken McNuggets before you get a Flurrie
"Because Halloween should be warm and friendly.... Do you really mean that? Even the smallest of children are going to see ME, Vincent Price, Master of the Macabre, advocating for a WARM Halloween, and they're going to call bullshit on this." "Can we keep going please, Mr. Price?" "*sigh* Here (under protest) is Beef Burgers..."
It’s always a tradition in my house during October and Halloween eve that we watch old Halloween movies or tv show episodes as well as these great commercials. This year I’m going to try and make it realistic, find separate commercials and full length tv show specials and make a playlist. Put it on shuffle and hope I don’t get all the commercials first haha
Aww, the ones from the 1985 look cute and funny, I love Halloween, I can't wait for it this year! So I'm gonna do something kooky all throughout October until Halloween! 👻👻💀💀🎃🎃🎃
Virgo Bro And what's that supposed to mean? Halloween may not be as good as it was back then, but it is still the second best holiday. And I'm gonna do something spooky all throughout October until Halloween. 😊
Even though commercials are just solely meant for you to buy something. At least these commercials felt genuine and seemed like a kid made it for kids.
Thank you so much, for a moment I could be a child again. The house I spent 33 years in and my great grandparents built by hand was just taken by the county with all the stuff in it. It's like my whole life has been erased...
I love Halloween and always will!! Born in 86 so yes I miss the good old days dressing up and doing some trick and treating..I still dress up but now I go to Halloween parties or go to hnn in Orlando!! Favortie time of year!!
I remember when I was 10 years old in 1996.. Halloween was one of the best holiday there was.. kids would actually wear customers .. know in days they just wear a mask and normal clothe
I’ve been reading a lot of comments that “Halloween isn’t the same since I was a kid” and you’re right but wrong at the same time, Halloween is still a spooky and magical holiday but the reason you don’t see it anymore is because you grew up, and all the adults in your neighbourhood know this and won’t decorate their house anymore because they know all the kids have grown up and the magical years are now gone.
Also seeing things through the lens of a child is so different than when you grow up as an adult. Halloween is still everywhere and kids still trick or treat but it doesnt seem as magical when you are an adult. Agreed that a lot neighborhoods have the same people living there for quite a while so all the kids grew up to be teens and each year less trick or treaters on the street and like you said the home owners slowly stop decorating and handing out candy. I think it will come back when unfortunately those familes move or pass away over time.
Im sad. Halloween was such a special time back then, now no one cares. I would get huge amounts of candy, hell i could get two bags. Id barely go for an hour. Now its just a ghost town.
