LEGO 31102 Fire Dragon MOC Alternate Bearded Fire Cobra.
The LEGO 31102 3 in 1 Creator Fire Dragon set was new out in January 2020 and I haven’t seen a lot of Alternate models out yet so I thought I'd design one myself. I was inspired by the curved blue plate pieces used in the Fire Dragon’s wings and the Scorpions claws to create a much more exaggerated hood shape, almost like the shape of Jafar’s cobra-headed staff in Aladdin.
I played around with the real pieces for a couple of days then set upon one particular design which I then built in Studio. There are still a couple of options depending on whether you have the snake lying flat or reared up. And also whether the mouth is closed or open with a forked tongue and/or flame coming out.

Review
I had a lot of fun playing around with this alternate model. The new technic hinge joint pieces are flexible but also robust enough for this snake to hold up it’s own weight and add enough stability that it doesn’t fall over even in the reared up position.
I’m not sure about the choice of colours though, maybe two-tone would have been enough. Still, the curved plate pieces, hinge joint pieces and large flame piece differentiate this set enough to make this an appealing set. I’m sure we’ll see a lot more Alternates emerging. What creature do you think would make a good alternate for this set???
