Good video Andy and will say I found it to be more comfortable then the Sea to Summit and Thermarest I have had in the past. Even when fully inflated it is comfortable. Some of the other mats I have used and mention you need to let some of the air out as they can feel a bit too rigid. Believe the smaller dimples do make a difference in use.
Watching this while using it rn. It's pretty good and comfortable honestly. I used it at -10C with Carinthia Defence 4. Didn't feel any cold from the ground
Thank you for this video! I am aware of this Light Tour sleeping mat for a long time now but there aren't many reviews on it. And a comparison with xtherm is especially useful.
That is amazing! It looks exactly like the new Zenbivy pad, which a lot of american RU-vidrs are saying is the best sleeping pad. And that one costs over 200 USD! Weight and R value are also very similar, which leads me to believe it is the same pad
Light Tour / Naturehike / Windhike, the brands are different but I guess they're made at the same factory anyway. I bought the R3.5 version a while ago for occasional summer trips and frankly, I don't see how Therm-A-Rest or some other big brands can justify their prices unless their mats are gold-plated :) For my use case, this is near-perfect.
Great stuff. Best wishes to the man of many tents 😊. Happy Christmas and yuletide and into next year too. Not sure how i did it but i got a naturehike rectangular mat given just like the lightour one you have! On closer inspection it seems the internal heat reflective section stops short at head and foot end of the mat. But i agree completely that its a comfortable warm mat too.👏👍🏼🙏
I agree the thermarests are not comfortable. I’ve just upgraded to the latest NXT with a thermal R rating of 7.2 and it should be more comfortable as the sleeping surface apparently uses a softer, more flexible material but I have yet to test it. What is often overlooked with alternative products is the warranty. Thermarest is outstanding in this regard.
I have the Nature Hike original version this pad out performs most other brands I no longer use my Xtherm or Big Agnes pad as this Nature Hike pad out performs them both in terms of warmth and comfort it’s the best pad on the market presently. Watch the bigger brands start bringing out new pad with R rating of 8 and above to vindicate their prices and confuse people more especially those who don’t look into pad performance properly or just buy a brand and believe they are the best pads. Highly recommend the nature hike pad it really is that good 👍❤️
Exactly the same as the Naturehike in the way it comes packed and image shape on inflation. Just a different name stencilled. It arrived this week. Mine had one baffle button weld not adhered and left a lump on inflation. Luckily on the bottom. After inflation, I put it on the house floor with a 6kg boxed weight on top overnight. Next morning it had deflated. Again inflated next night and slept on it overnight on top of the bed. It went down. Not cheap even for a Chinese camping product. If bought in the UK, I would take it back and get another or a refund. Buying halfway round the world maybe more problematic (already informed seller through Ali Express). It would be impossible for a manufacturer to inflate and test each high & low cost air bed. So it is the luck of the draw. Got another Naturehike bed which lasted one season and now won’t hold air pressure.
The baffles on the light tour are just like those on my sea to summit comfort xt but at over 1200g has been relegated to car camping but super comfortable. Never actually heard of light tour 🤔 have a older version of the xtherm think it's a max (long and rectangular) not sure I'd replace it but if I was in the market think I'd give the light tour a punt
Light Tour is just a name for selling the mat, but this actually the factory designing and making the pads for Vaude and others, so they're not coming from nowhere really.
I changed to a Nemo Tensor, similar dimple design, it ticks all the boxes for me. I will admit I always put my down sleeping bag inside my black diamond bivi in winter it gives extra warmth, but mainly moisture protection
Thanks for the comparison Andy. I have had a differently branded version of the Light Tour since May this year. Really impressive pad and so much more pack friendly than my brilliant (but bulky) Exped Synmat 7. I've never owned a thermarest because they're so pricey so it was really useful to hear what you had to say about the two if them. Thanks again Andy
Good video Andrew. My concern would be that the smaller dimples would leech heat in the winter... it would be good to test it with a thermal camera?? but that outcome on comfort was not a surprise to me as i have been toying with switching over to Big Agnes owing to the lack of comfort from the Thermorest.
I've had the same mat for ten months in all weathers and I have to say it's complete crap! I say that in the hope they don't increase the prices. I wouldn't be without it! 👍
Thanks man. I stumbled accross the Light Tour on camperlists (which is probably the same as Collins outdoors, judging from the pictures of the website). Can you give an update on the light tour, especially in terms of longevity/durability, i guess you used it by now for some time, is it still up to the task? Thanks in advance, greetings from germany
Hi, it's still working perfectly. Two slight negatives for me it's it's quite noisy when moving around on it ( I need to do a back to back comparison with my other two ) and when sitting on it it will bottom out and you'll feel cold spots, lying down though it's great and I think it's my most comfortable sleep. A
It was sent to me for testing , though I'll always be honest when it comes to gear reviews. The one downside I can only find is that to sit on if you don't double it up I can feel slight cold spots where my bum compresses it in sub zero conditions , but lying on it no issues.
Bothe these mats are pretty quiet these days. The thermarests used to be noisy on older lightweight models but both this xtherm and the light tour don't make any significant noise. A
Dear Andrew! Thank you a lot for your many outdoor videos :) I have a question. I am 192cm and my question is how tall are you, because I always like to know if certain equipment would also fit for me. I thought about the Crux X1 assault for example.
Hi unfortunately I don't have the tent anymore to measure it for you, typically assault tents are a bit tight length wise so you'd maybe have to sleep on the diagonal. Carl at Crux should be able to tell you if you email him via the website. ! A
I'm not sure but hazard a guess that it will be. Not uncommon for rebranding and I doubt Naturehike would rebrand an inferior one, probably not worth their rep. A
I would say yes, the Naturehike and Light Tour mats are one and the same. In fact I've seen a RU-vid video stating exactly that. Also, we have four of the Naturehike ones (2x rectangular and 2x mummy) and there appears to be no difference other than a different name printed on the mat. Have yet to use them in the wild but having just tried them out in the house (with, admittedly, nothing to compare them to other that Trekology and Vango SIMs) I am massively impressed.
Very interesting. I’ve a thermarest max wide for the winter bit looking for a smaller mat at the footbox for my bivvy camps. This could be a strong contender.
