This is actually not true, the game's FoV increases and decreases depending on the aspect ratio even if neither change the in-game FoV slider, someone playing at 105 FoV in 4:3 sees much less than someone playing at 105 FoV at 48:9 (3840x720), if you'd like to test it you can create custom resolutions in nvidia control panel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ElaSdU76Gw.html
I can force 3840x1080 on my monitor which increases the FOV past the in-game cap of 105, I can even go lower but I can't stand it lower than this... Any 32:9 will be able to replicate this without the black bars
