Just kidding, but from I've heard the Queen of Italy wanted to try commoner food and was served pizza and the chef chose Mozzarella(White), Tomato Sauce(Red) and Basil(Green) to represent the colors of the Italian flag and for some reason two thirds of that became a universal standard for Pizza.

So first, the french flag was white because it represented the monarchy, then France was in the Revolution, in 1789 the french flag we know today was adopted it represents in the middle the monarchy, and around, the color of Paris. My country is India. Indian flags consists of three stripes. The first stripe color is saffron which represent courage. II stripe colour is white which represent peace. III stripe colour is green which represent India's agriculture. In middle of second strike there is a circle name Ashok Chakra which have 24 stripes which represent 24 hours of a day.

It kinda disappointed you talked about how only one country has purple but not why it's the only one. Long ago, purple dye used to be extremely hard to make and cost more than gold. The only way to make it was from a very tiny purple snail, which would take over 20,000 of them to make a Kg of dye. Which would make a flag very expensive to make if it featured purple.
Because of ite scarcity and cost it is not suprising that purple has been the preferred color of the 1% since ancient times and sometimes it was exclusive to them, by law. So when nation states emerged and pledged themselves to represent "the people", etc. it should not be surprising that few countries chose to include the traditional Royal Purple in the color schemes of their flags. In a fit of what can only be called" ironic Spanish humor", when the Spanish monarchy fell the new but shortlived democratic Spanish Republic redesigned the traditional Spanish flag with a purple stripe. The Indonesian Flag, "Red and White", is actually a flag from 13th century, it was once used in Majapahit Empire era. Majapahit is one of the biggest empire in Indonesia Archipelago, that's why when we got our independence, we took the "Red and White" flag as our national flag. And it was said that during The Netherlands colonialization, there were a story when the Indonesian youth was protesting and ripping the blue stripe of Netherlands's flag and leaving the flag only the "Red and White" stripe to show that we want to get our independence.
I'm Indonesian, but story about majapahit is overrated and is not supported by strong historical evidence.. The idea was coming from M. Yamin to build one nation spirit among lots of local kingdom..
I'm Romanian, we've had the flag for about a century longer than Chad has. We partially solved the confusion back in mid-20th century by adding a symbol on it but that was removed after the revolution because it had the Soviet star on it. It was a pretty clever design when it was first created by the Principates back in 1859. The stripes were horizontal rather than vertical, red at the bottom symbolized the blood spilled by our soldiers in war, the yellow symbolized the farmlands they fought to defend and the blue at the top symbolized the sky. Exactly why these "geniuses" decided to flip the flag on it's side instead of keeping it the way it was eludes me, but it's a pretty good metaphor for the dysfunctional state of this country. Andorra shares a similar flag but unlike us and Chad they were smart enough to add a unique symbol to it.

(De jure I think the Kingdom of Romania was only recognized in 1866 by most European powers) Anyways, the country is older than 100 years, (it's about 100 years older than independent Chad) but officially the flag of the country always had a crest on it (first the Royal and after ww2 the Soviet-inspired crest) so as a Romanian I think my country was the irresponsible one here for just removing the crest in 1989 without adding anything else in its stead...
I had a Spanish professor that had an interesting take on the symbol on the Mexican flag, which is an eagle sitting on a cactus eating a snake. According to legend, this would be the symbol the Aztecs would see to know where they were to build their capital city of Tenochitlan (modern day Mexico City). Before that, they were a nomadic tribe that wasn't very popular with others. Anyway, my professor thinks it was more likely that the priests were tired of wandering around, and when they came across an eagle perched on a cactus eating a snake, they huddled together and said, "Hey, we're tired of this nomadic stuff. Let's say that's a sign from our gods and get the peasants building us a city!"
Yeah, legend has it that the aztecs were instructed by one of their gods, Huitzilopochtli, to leave Aztlán (probably located in the north of México) and migrate to the south, where they would found the place to build their new city and changed their name to mexicas. The exodus began in 1065, with 8 calpulli (a kind of clan) but during their journey, two of them gave up the queste and founded their own cities (like the Anahuac). Even the other 6 calpulli almost gave up too, but it's supposed that they foud the signal of the profecy in the lake of Texcoco. However, according to the sources this happened in 1325, so it's quite probable that the tezcacóatls (priests) just choosed that place like a last resource, because, when they arrived to Texcoco, most of the dry land was already taken by other powerful groups.
