thanks for doing this video! a lot of devs forget about the 404 page b/c it's not a "usual" path, but it can make a big difference in user experience when done well.

Too simple, thank you. I have been trying to bring my site up to current SEO Standards and the 404 page is one of the factors and I had code that worked as far as functionality but the SEO audits didn't recognize it, therefore telling me I needed a 404 page. Thanks alot!

it works only on apache server not any other else do it when your website is hosted online.

Great and to the point tutorial as usual. I have a question, ErrorDocument 404 works fine as long as the "not found" page name is written directly after the www.mydomain.com/ however when i do the same after any existing page then nothing actually happens, simply the correct page still showing !!! for ex. if I try www.mydomain.com/existpage.php/jshdjfhlfas then still existpage.php is still showing .. any idea why ??

Do you need a web server to do it? I searched for how to get a web server and downloaded Apache but I can't open it because Windows blocked it. Is there any other way to create a 404 page without a web server?

Νιψκ That scary icon is there because I don't use my website for handling sensitive data and because I am not trying to boost my website SEO ranking :) but yes a SSL certificate tutorial would be an idea later in this course. At the moment a SSL lesson would only confuse newer web devs that are watching this course, and since they haven't learned how to create dynamic websites yet it wouldn't benefit them much. SSL is primarily used when handling sensitive user data.

You should send a http Header with it. Google something thinks its a soft 404 or only a redirect.

Doesn't work for me.. however, i am currently "hosting" my site using WAMP and localhost. Isn't it possible to do it that way? I mean it doesn't really matter, as the first moment when i will definetely need such page is when i upload my page.. but i am just wondering.

This doesn't work on my server. My error is always :- Server Error 404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Do you have a solution for this? I have taken my domain from Rediff.

it's a linux thing. Linux doesn't do file extensions like windows. it is a plain text file, but it is not a .txt file

Sir i created a 404 page in which i have relative path of all the css and js file. Now it is working fine when some page that not exist with www.example.com/something but its css and js is not working with "www.example.com/admin/something" due to relative path. Can you tell me how can i solve this problem without changing relative path
