I have the same problem as you Andy - my limited height (5 ft 9) made it an almighty stretch to reach that last clip, top dead centre! Like you, when I watched my video back I felt it might be easier to access from an open doorway. Good observation about rain running in through the door when you open it, and hopefully easy to improve with a minor design tweak. Stunning surroundings for this first outing, I must say! ATB, James.
I think after a two or three years we will see how good this tent is in harsh weather or not! For me I like tried and tested tents! I am upgrading from my Abisko Lite 1, which has never let me down, to a larger storm proof 2p tent, with better head room and space, which has proven to be bomb proof and that is the Kuiu Storm Star 2p tent. Better in my opinion to Hilleberg Soulo BL (which I find to be a flappy tent making loads of noise wise in high winds) at half the price. I will be watching over the next few years what Nortent Vern 2 owners says about the tent on mountains in high winds and snow load environments! I have seen already that Nortent have upgrade the size of the poles for the Vern 2. We will see!
Great video again buddy, and what a beautiful spot. What loch was that ? (Lomond by any chance) Can't believe the tent at that price isn't seam sealed, when you think you can grab a Night Cat tent for a 1/4 of the price that comes 100% waterproof and fully seam sealed. Now I get that you can do this yourself however as you know you need a good weather day to do it and we do live in the UK lol

Hi Derek, The caveat is it's only one night so far for me but it worked well without issue. I'd like to get at least another night before I can make my mind up. Might be worth checking if anyone else has videos on it. I think Andy Wardle has one and he rated it too,?! Andrew
Hello Andrew Thanks for your reply. I have watched Camp Life Bushcraft and MVDBR ENDURO who have videos with the Flextail pad. I watched Justin Outdoors upload featuring the BA Rapide SL. I’m still not sure! I’m just wanting to get this one right for 2024. My last two camps have just been too cold the last two weeks. The cold coming up from the ground is a wee bit brutal. I think my Trekology UL80 and 140 are just not build for this early in the year and I’m looking to upgrade anyway. Decisions, decisions. Looking forward to your next outings. Cheers Derek.
Another great video Andrew. Loving my Vern 2. Tons of space and the vestibules are more than adequate for cooking and storing kit. Think I'll wait for the OneTigris winter mat.
nice video. bought one as well as the vern1 was not available . for me is motorcycle camping. well a bit big and heavy but smells quality and sturdiness
Hi , when you mention there was condensation , can you tell me if you had a door opened or everything was close excepts the vents ? I have a nice feeling about this tent , I would primarly use it in winter but also in early spring and late fall here in Québec ( Canada) . Il would be perfect to bring in my pulk in winter or for canoe trip where weight is less an issue. Thanks for the video
Hi , everything was closed except the vents all round plus the two base vents. My inner doors were a quarter mesh at the top. It was a dead still night after heavy rain and round freezing so nothing unusual with the condensation levels . Exactly as I'd see in any other tent. 👍
