This video is in response to a viewer request asking me to take a look at Slade. I'm focusing on the "Slayed" album and a hit single from that album: "Gudbuy T'Jane", both released in late 1972. And I take the opportunity to talk about Glam Rock more generally. #guitar #glamrock

For anyone interested, this is the cover we did of Gudbuy T'Jane a couple of years back to celebrate its 50th anniversary: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aBTIOUddC9g.html

Noddy did have a great rock voice, very distinct, you could always tell it was him singing. Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers, Joey.

I saw Slade as the opening act before Aerosmith! Must have been 1975. Slade was a very tight entertaining band! Aerosmith must have been during their drugging & drinking period, because they weren't near as tight or entertaining as Slade!

Never get a good support band. They just crucify you. Rockpile supported Blondie and the more they cut their set time, the more it was just their perfect songs. Saw the Kinks with some support band with a female lead singer who got her tits out. No bra, but in a way that was the perfect support!

@@COIcultist I saw Max Webster, then UFO, & finally RUSH, in LR, Arkansas, must have been late 1977 or early 1978! Top 3 concert! I was familiar with UFO, but I had never heard of Max Webster! I saw Led Zeppelin, Bowie twice, Joe Walsh twice, Black Sabbath, Trapeze, Yes, The Alarm, & several all day concerts, back in the day!

@@winstonhewett6679 I saw Yes more than a dozen times, they were only ever the band they could be once. Wakeman had come back, and it was 2002 or 03. There was a whole series of concerts in Liverpool in what was basically a big tent. Slightly dodgy sound at first then they went off came back on, and it was everything they could be. Saw them in 2004, and they hadn't improved for being together. Slade I saw in 82(?) in Lancaster, and they were all killer, no filler. Why I never watched them again is beyond me. Wanted to see King Crimson for years, I'd seen The 20TH Century Schizoid Band, but I'd doubled booked myself for Crimson. They were on in Manchester, and I was 270+ miles away. I drove up thinking this concert can't be worth the time lost, fuel costs, inconvenience and more. It was an unbelievable concert, everything I wanted and more. Drove back overnight. A year or two later they were on in Liverpool (I'd missed the Manchester tickets) I was sat in a pub and thought NO! I had a ticket for Crimson the night before, but a friend had, had multiple heart attacks, and I'd forget all about it. I'm no angel, but the strangest thing is I don't regret missing that concert at all, my mate was more important to be bothered about. I've got mates who met artists and had a great time, but the only better concert story I know is one mate who went to a concert with one too many tickets. Somebody for whatever reason had dropped out. Trying to sell the ticket outside the venue and not being a professional tout, people were trying to skim him. He ran out of time, went to go in, and somebody made him a derisory offer. He responded in something ending in off. To which he was told that if he didn't sell it now, he would lose all its value. I'll rip it up first, *"What"* was the genius's reply. Asked why he would do that when he was ripping it up, he stated that at least he wouldn't have some annoying twunt (I think twunt was the word he used) sat next to him throughout the concert knowing they ha only paid a half or quarter (whatever it was) of what he had paid for a ticket.
