#34: Toro TIMECUTTER in Really Tall Grass. No brush hog needed?!

In this video, I attempt to mow an area along the edge of the driveway using the Toro TIMECUTTER with 60” deck and 24.5 hp Toro Commercial engine. This will be the first time that area has been mowed since just before winter. It stays wet until the middle of summer. The grass/weeds were knee-high. I cut it down at the highest height setting, 4.5 inches, using the smart speed control at slow (turtle). I then go over the same area at the height setting 3.5. I was very impressed with the results.

I am really close to buying this mower as the first zero turn for my landscaping business. I know it's not commercial but given the amount of jobs this will handle at the beginning it will do just right. I'm especially satisfied with the way its cutting tall grass cause most of my customers have tall grass.

This Toro TIMECUTTER does great in tall grass in our experience. I've made a couple videos about it. It should be a nice machine for a small landscaping business. Congrats!

I’ve been using one for my part time business for nearly two years and it has held up pretty well no major issues and still cuts great with regular maintenance I have the myride version though

@@fighterok8 Is the My ride version identical to this one except that coil suspension? Cause I'm eyeing that one too. Here in Europe it costs around $7500

Remember to always start you blades at low rev so you don’t wear them out fast

That’s not what’s on the manual. Manual says “Always use the FAST position when engaging the PTO”. Page 18 “Operating the Throttle”. The tech who delivered my mower also told me to move throttle to full and then pull up the PTO. He said engaging PTO at low rev can stretch and damage belt.

We still really like the Timecutter. We recently did a review after 3 years. I think we have over 30 videos about the Toro on our channel. Great machine. Only cons, if we had to pick some, are the front tires constantly going flat (lots of thorns in our area), uses A LOT of gasoline, and is really loud (hearing protection required). @@PurpleCollarLife I love to keep the chute off on my Ventrac for that reason, but you get covered in grass, it is Terrible if it is windy!

I tried lifting the shoot on one of my mowers one time, and I got covered with so much grass, that never again will I ever. Well maybe I will try lifting enough but not all the way and see if that might do the trick.

We have plenty of deer around here. They don't eat much of the high grass. If you meant a John Deere, my 2210 sub-compact tractor with the 62" deck does okay in high grass, but not great.

@@thomasgriffin3474 Based on what? Have you owned one? Have you tested them in equal conditions? Or is this just an opinion because you bleed green? All of the Deere mowers are made by other companies now. John Deere doesn’t make any of them - in fact most are duplicates of other brands. Their lawn tractors are made by either AYP or MTD (both of whom are owned by larger conglomerates). Not sure who makes their consumer zero turns, but it isn’t Deere.

Woah wait a Minute, nice mower and Its great that It works on tall grass, but I had to rewind it twice to make sure, did I hear your wife admit you were right after mowing the grass? I've always heard sometimes wives do that, but I've never heard or seen video evidence of it lol

Can't be that great if it won't cut a full swipe at a time. My Bad Boy would cut that the height you want it with a full deck width and not a snail stored either. That Chinese engine smoking already. Blue smoke. Not good
