Thanks for sharing this video. I smiled with a tear in my eyes the whole video. Memories of my step father teaching this scrawny little grade schooler to ski for the first time on a red and white p14 boat he bought from a fellow worker in the very early 80's. 😅👍
I used to repair outboard motors in High School, I worked on Johnson/Evinrude the most then Mercurys then a couple Chryslers The Johnson/Evinrude were easy to troubleshoot and easy to fix good profit engines. The Mercury a little harder to work on but like the others easy to troubleshoot and get parts for just another very good engine. Chrysler, I worked on a 35 similar to this one and I thing a 105 HP one, I would get to them and they wouldnt start or ran so rough they wouldn't stay running I go through the fuel system, carbs and have them purring and running like they should and a week or so later the customer would call me and say it running rough again, I would go back and spend another hour on them getting them running perfectly again and now its on MY time because I cant charge a customer twice for the same thing and when I left all was perfect. A week later same story again. I would NOT work on another one after that, the carbs would never hold a tune on the two I worked on the exact same thing, I thought about lock tite but thats over the top I just wouldnt ever work on another on!
i have a 1976 35hp Chrysler I'm just starting to work on....said they couldn't get spark. looks like they replaced stator and have original coil and one vw coil:)(looks like coils can be replaced for $100). wiring in good shape. long shaft lower unit. compression 100lbs with wd40 sprayed in. thx for franz marine suggestion. just ordered repair manual.
@@HoneyCombCottageBeeOfficial I replaced the fuel pump diaphragms, cleaned points with finger nail file, got it to fire & start. Started working on lower unit getting seals. Got them but not installed. Its sat for a year or so now. Need to get back to it.
I have a 72 Chrysler cadet with 45hp Chrysler motor and on trailer, got it given to me, I need to finish a couple fiberglass repairs get a seat and a part for the motor to hold shift linkage, anyway, it looks a lot like your boat minus the red, mine is white with a goldish strip.
+Ann T. .... I have no idea what year that boat is. The tag did not have the year stamped on it. I've been told by many people that it's from the 50s. I no longer have it. Congrats on yours! !
We just picked up the exact same boat from a friend. Can't read the info on the back left to see what year it is. Our motor is a Chrysler 30. My friend was given the boat to "hold onto" and the guy never came back to get it. Strtbobber, what yer is this boat?
where did you find the parts and the controls for your motor? Also what year and serial number is the motor? I have one right now that I am having trouble finding parts for. Thanks!
I also have a shell lake dart. Same year it looks like. I am restoring a pretty rough example and I can’t seem to find any pictures of the interior. Can you send me a picture of the interior of your boat?

great video.love the old Chrysler outboards.got mine from an unworthy owner, had some stupid issues I worked out but it's a labor of love once you have one. See my 1971 70hp @ eastsidesigns1 thanks.
@@boreese2089 I had to remove the seats in mine as the wood for the seats was rotted so no longer have anything in the boat. can I ask you did you take the fly wheel off the engine, as I have only one cylinder firing so will need to remove it.
the seats were front seats and behind the front were seats facing towards the rear with bench seats down each side but as they were rotted I hade to remove them
Daniel mc entee I got the boat as a complete shell. I got it from my dad, and he never had the original engine but he had an evinrude 30 hp on it. I do not have the engine on atm so I couldn’t tell you anything about it.
I have one it is labled viking by eatons #354821 i am having a world of troubble with parts, i would like to up date the ignition to a pointless system can it be done?? must have came as a package cordou canoues made the boat but that is labled viking too. can some one help with my parts issue and id the year.
