I just ordered all of this. Only thing I couldn’t see from the videos I’ve watched is a acceleration run. The video that you showed top speed seemed like it took a long time to get there.
@@BRichSolution yeah I ended up holding off on the 13t. I also have a razor pocket mod (moped) I got them both free. And I’m gonna build it next if this one goes good
Clean up the old ones… see video Easy Rust removal - pitbike or Razor dirt bike wheels ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hLo1RUO0W9Q.html
Fantastic tutorial, planning on doing this but I was curious if you used the same chain as the stock one ( length wise ), sorry if I missed you saying it. Please let me know asap, thanks!
Single yellow wire is for the voltmeter. Not needed but nice to have so you know battery level. Wire the yellow to orange on the controllers indicator harness
See video at 24:05 time mark for adjusting the caliper. Hold the brake lever so the caliper centers on rotor then tighten the bolts on caliper to frame to get it aligned
Hey I bought everything from the description.. starting the build tomorrow one question.. should I unplug the battery from the controller while charging the battery?
My drive sprocket is on the other side. So my motor would need to be placed in the other side. That means it will go in reverse on throttle. How do I change that on the control box?
Hey I’m looking to do the same build this video really encouraged me to do it and helped me I was wondering what you use to charge it because the battery does not come with it
Used a butt connector: one side was + from indicator harness from controller the other end of butt connector put both wires (yellow from throttle and step down transformer wire) in connector
Metric hex keys for removing plastics and motor Screw drivers Wire strippers Hacksaw for cutting motor bracket Drill and bits to sink motor screws Heat gun or solder to connect wires
Sounds like the 3 speed wire harness? The default for the motor is medium and you need to use a jumper wire to engage the top or high speed. See video section in video when i bench test the kit. You should be able to do 30-32 mph with it in high speed or top gear. Adding 13 tooth motor sprocket will get you to 34-35 mph
I kept the rear sprocket the stock size but you can order other sizes here. cart.electricscooterparts.com/84-tooth-sprocket-for-25-chain-with-iso-mounting-pattern. They make other sizes and for different chain sizes Also use this gear ratio calculator to make sure you get what you want. electricscooterparts.com/motorwheelgearratio.html
I just did this upgrade to my son’s but used the factory 11T gear. It’s way too much torque for a 90lb rider. Does the 13T sprocket slow down the hole shot noticeable enough that it doesn’t ride a wheelie half a football field?
I ordered a chain tensioner and the barrier that’s across from the two like thingys that spin keeps moving when I ride and won’t stay up. It hits the chain and I tried to adjust with the nut but it still moves. This is the 2nd one I have because last time I left it and it broken the barrier
Great video! Did you have to tap new threads to mount the new motor? I can't quite tell what you did from the video. I've head that the spacing is wider on newer motors. I've also heard that the 1000W or greater motors don't have recessed bolts.
New rotors bolts same thread as stock threads. No drill or tap required…bolts right on. As for the motor 2 screws need to be recessed as show in my video. If you buy more expensive kits the bolts will be recessed
Hey man I'm gonna do this build but i do have a question, Is this build water proof because i want to make sure i don't ruin the bike when i clean it!! thanks man for the video this will help me so much the wiring couldn't do it without you.
Is the chain tensioner operating properly and spring is engaged? If spring tensioner ok and chain is old buy a new chain they are cheap. If chain is new then remove a link
We have a throttle with a volt meter we aren't doing 3 speed so it's just throttle and volt meter. We have a Red, Green, and Black wire on the throttle all in one clip and then a yellow and blue wire each in heat clips. What is the coloring for the wires into the controller you used?
I did everything you said for the connections and checked all the connections and I get nothing. Nothing moves. I even hooked up the on off switch. Do you know a possible reason for this?
I am building this I put everything in the bike and when I throttle it’s not working, it shows the power on the volt meter so I know the controller is getting power, is there a chance that some metal got in the motor and that’s why it’s not working or is it something else
Hi I finished my mx500 build but the motor came in medium mode for me I don't have a 3 speed throttle is there a way I can change it for it to be always in high mode?
Yes figure out which wires make the motor run in high on the 3 speed harness using spare piece if wire. See video at 4:02. Then wire those two tires together permanently
When you upgrade to hydraulic brakes the stock 3mm thick rotors will not fit and you need 2mm thick rotors that are 160mm diameter. See parts list www.amazon.com/shop/brich/list/2A0OX01IQELT4?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_aipsflist_aipsfbrich_HACDTVEAKMBVKX6M3P5T
20Ah will get you over 90 mint ride time and at least 20 miles of range full throttle. Longer with mixed riding. Go with 20ah battery and then later in add 10ah in parallel to make 30ah if you need it. The 20ah battery is on sale on Amazon now see link amzn.to/4c09Een
Hey man, great video, it was really helpful! On your link for the battery it says its rated for 1200w and I was told I would need a 50amp bms in the battery to run the 1800w kit. Have you had any issues running your battery?
I bought the exact same throttle as you did twice because the first time the 2nd gear did not work and now it happened again with the new one. Did that happen with you?
Just finished my build. I have a key switch throttle and the voltage meter is always on, any fix for this? I also top out at 21MPH on the stock sprocket - could it possibly be in the lowest power mode as I don’t have a 3 speed? Thanks!
@B Rich. I’m using the links you provided and when I go to eBay for the 48v lithium battery it makes you select for type of motor it will be used for, the only selection available is for the
Thanks for the quick response! If I just start with the upgraded battery first, do you recommend anything else since I have the bike apart? Like the heat shrink or anything?
I finally got everything in to upgrade to the 48v lithium batteries you had linked using the stock controller and motor. Which video of yours is the best to use showing the steps to install this please? Thanks
Great video thanks! I have a question about your battery and motor… the battery you linked says max of 1200w output but you’re using it with an 1800w motor. Does that just make the motor run slower…?
I don’t understand? I’ve been looking for a battery to power my 48v 2000w motor but all 48v batteries I find are rated at 1800w max… what should I be looking for?
Started this build today and followed your tutorial, after connecting everything the throttle wouldn’t light up or work at all. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Did you perform a bench test before install? Do you have a jumper wire or on/off switch connected to the elock harness on controller? Nothing will work if elock is not connected
Spring is in the air and prices increased. If you buy battery from Aliexpress vs amazon it will save $30-40 and comes out of same warehouse in CA s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mNYTzMm
Thanks for making my decision easier to make. I wasn't trying to spend alot this worked out perfect for me. Just bought same bike, same vevor kit and battery with charger. Am I missing anything else that is needed? I read the description and noticed there's alot listed but I'm basically looking to start out bare minimum upgrade later. Is heat sink highly recommended? Thanks.
I just got the vevor motor and controller kit, and the stock sprocket that came on it won’t fit with the stock razor chain, is there a specific size chain that anyone can recommend?
Use sprocket from stock motor or upgrade to 13T for less hop and faster speed. See video for changing sprockets Razor Dirt Bike Motor Sprocket Change & Speed Test ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BuSAr9CzmEI.html
I’ve been enjoying mine for a while until today , have you ever experience throttle problems ? At first it was getting stuck , but now my throttle is not responding at all 😕 Do you have any tips ?
did you get the rotors that have 48mm bolt pattern? most of the rotors on amazon are 44mm bolt pattern. see link for 48mm bolt pattern rotors: amzn.to/3LmX7Wi
