If you worked in shipping hubs, box was prob destroyed on the various conveyor belts twisting and turning to its destination in the hub. If the box broke open, a lot of those cards would slide in between conveyor belts and fall down to the ground. The sorter likely just picked one of the boxes and hoped it was going to the right address, repackaged it.
@@OpossumBud it happens. multiple boxes getting jammed up on belt and destroy one another. Either the weight alone building up breaks the jam or workers stop the belt to fix. Say goodbye to that extra order info paper inside too, everything goes everywhere once broken. A lot of times it’s clear where things go but not always.

@@OpossumBud I can only speak for UPS. Bigger hubs are just slammed. There’s no piecing some of what people ship once it’s been tossed around on its trip from unload to sorting and to another truck. If it gets broken, you’ll get thousands of cards sprayed everywhere and a few hundred more minutes later as whatever else got stuck along the way is brought by more boxes. No one working has time for that BS. That’s why always laugh when ppl complain someone tossing their package on the porch with their door camera. If they only knew.
2:35 We have a lot to worry about with the mail system anyways, adding in cards being replaced with basketball logo backpacks wouldn’t lead to much change with it, though the USPS investigation team will have a field day with it. Though if I had to guess all the bulk is in the bulk box in the buyer’s picture and buyer wanted to pull a fast one, get refunded, and offload themselves of 4 New York Knicks backpacks at the same time. Curious to see how eBay handles the situation.
My local post office was stealing my pokemon packages and just delivering empty boxes and empty bubble mailers with holes in them. Every time I went to the post office they said to contact the seller to see if it’s insured. Absolutely useless and zero accountability. But this seems like a buyer scam.
The sports ball team? lol. That box was not strong enough cardboard for sure. I received greased up boxes 📦 via courier 🚚 before. Any type of dampness - cardboard becomes no stronger than paper towel 🧻
One possible scenario is the box may have faltered to support 35 pounds and was mispackaged in facility sorting... 35 pounds is EXTREMELY heavy like a large tv or a massive truck tire, and a cardboard box will falter very very easily from experience. It looks extremely poorly packaged, there is a chance the box flaps misaligned when weight of the cards jostled to one side (because of poor weight distribution of somthing that wildly heavy) and there being a logjam with several disheveled damaged items, workers may have hastily thrown back in anything around and taping it back up. I own a business and something that heavy is shrink wrapped and packaged with extra care and not just 35 pounds thrown into a box with little to no tape. I have had many stories where customs/sorting/shipping has damaged my items, replaced them, stole them, or confiscated them (exp. my card being destroyed by getting stuck in a sorting facility line roller, customs taking away metal guitar picks labeling it as weapon brass knuckles, breaking a cello in half forcefully pulling a zipper on the case to check for drugs, a driver stealing my 1000 dollars in cards and sending blank "delivered" photos, confiscating over 500 collectable coins being deemed as "suspicious" counterfeits, opening my box of cards and replacing it with my neighbors car parts.. point is there can be multiple errors or bad faith actors at different points before the items got to the customer...
I would think his sales thread is to SHOW that there's that many cards in the box, after they are all wrapped up in paper and bubble or tape, how's he gonna list it like that? I doubt the guy had the (no) sense to ship them the way he nicely pictured them, to THEN make a reddit post about it. I just don't see it. Almost anyone knows you can't ship loose cards in a single layer giant heavy cardboard box. Even bulk sales to stores that buy bulk, ppl wrap it and sort it. Trust it most likely wasn't just taped up after the ebay pics, and then out the door it went. I'm sure it was packaged right, and probably why they got stollen, no one could tell it was bulk. "maybe there's a million dollar Charizard in here!" I can hear it now lol 😅
@@cooldaddyfunk you will be surprised people are not that smart to package things (and not think anything of it). he just did a video on someone sending cards without a toploader (that happened to me a good 5 times) i had someone send me a 1950s 200 dollar comic book in a bubble mailer without protection last month (it got creased badly)... just too many stories where people dont exercise caution at all or are just foolish. the comment before yours is someone ridiculously saying a 14 year old is a loser if they are a virgin... at 14. Your most likely right as a bait and switch, i was just putting other possible scenarios out there!
I can’t imagine any carrier FedEx, UPS, or USPS would ever have enough time to take out 35 lbs of bulk cards put them into another container figure out how to pass them off to someone while not deviating from the route and then take the time to add some knicks bags and tape it all back up. Probably a little too busy to worry about that.

Something kind of similar happened to me like a year ago. I’m from the US and someone from Canada bought like a single $40 graded card from me. When it got to them, they messaged me saying instead of the card I shipped them some WOTC era theme deck. Immediately fishy, however the buyer had 100% positive feedback as a buyer, but I also noticed through that, that they were a constant buyer of Pokémon card related things. So I kinda called them out saying that they’re constantly buying Pokémon stuff, surely they have to have me mixed up with another seller. ALSO turns out, if sealed, that particular deck was worth like $100+. And also they never sent a picture of my packaging or supposed deck. After my message calling them out, never heard a thing lol.
This is one of the weirdest pokemon mysteries. Like you said its not worth someone's time to swap out the two things. The bulk at best was like $50 maybe
At one of my last jobs when COVID came in, we weren't allowed to return to the office for our belongings unless we were leaving the company...when I did get fired, they'd put a sticker on my locker (it was unmarked before so I found via photo id taken); I unlocked it with the pin .. somebody's shoes, none of my stuff...it had been pretty full and very little of it had any value...the police even allowed me to file a report since I technically had some money in there... though they never got back to me 😅
What are you going to do with 35lbs of bulk?? Don’t ship it in a shitty box like that! Quality Assurance clerk here! Nothing pisses me off more than sellers that have zero common sense. You see the bottom of that package? How it’s only held together by that bottom flap?? I wouldn’t dare ship anything more than a few pounds, let alone 35 and feel confident about it’s safety. One thing people immediately jump to is “the driver stole my XYZ” or “this company stole my 789”. People hardly ever consider that a sorting system AND people handle your packages. Many things can go wrong from a package getting eaten by conveyor belts, torn apart by transition plates or idiots thinking that a flimsy piece of cardboard will protect and assure that your 75 pounds of ill packaged kitchen items will remain intact. The seller is at fault for not packaging 35lbs of shifting bulk weight properly. Not sure how someone fudged up and slipped those satchels in there. You should never repackage what isn’t on the packing slip. If there isn’t a packing list, you don’t just insert lose items that don’t belong. A report should have been filed for this damaged package, notifying both the seller and the recipient. Hopefully SOMEBODY learns something…. I wouldn’t bet on it, though!
I agree. It's obvious when sellers take pride and care in their work and when they don't. Also, 'common sense' is the most finite resource on the planet. People are too stupid for their own good and it's always someone else's fault when things go wrong. The same people that will send a shadowless zard in a white envelope through the mail sorter to save a penny.

First this was awful packaging. You do NOT ship cards like this because the package WILL get dropped and kicked etc. This looks like someone broke the package in transport and just filled it back with whatever they had around to not have to report they broke the package. Obviously the box will get damaged and opened when you do not secure the inside. You need to bubble wrap the cards as a whole and then tape sides and corners. Its like the sender have never heard that it may rain.
Id like to think this one wouldn't have made a post about it if he didn't ACTUALLY PACK the cards. Probably why they got stollen, all wrapped up in paper. POSSIBLY 😅
@@cooldaddyfunk There is a pict of the box filled to the top without those cards being wrapped so what else do you want? Why would you fill the box then empty it then wrap the cards and then now have enough space to put the cards back in the box. You don t ship like this.

I always record myself packaging expensive stuff that I’ve sold on eBay to cover my end. Also do the same when receiving an expensive package just so you’ve got evidence you aren’t in the wrong. Definitely feel for the seller & possibly the buyer too long as they didn’t scam the seller.
My guess is the box got broken in transit in some cases USPS will just repack the box. Its someone possible multiple boxes broke and somehow else got 35 pounds of bulk and this dude got the backpacks. It really doesnt seem like a purpose done thing. Those knicks backpacks depending on the brand probably are worth anywhere from 25-50 a piece definatly worth more then the bulk box. It doesnt seem like a scam my guess damaged box and accidental wrong repack.
Ebay is littered with Buyer scams, im pretty sure even the shipping receipt and info on the tracking number would have the weight when the seller shipped it. To me the seller did his job, he packed and shipped and all the info should be recorded in the system therefore the rest is on the Buyer unless packaged like crap and it caused damage but if this dude can prove weight then it's a Buyer problem, it's why you get the insurance option. My money is on a Buyer scam. Picture can say a thousand words but Picture can also with hold a million. Is why I video everything right out of my mail box so I have proof I'm not trying to pull a fast one. 99.9% of the time it's good and I can easily delete the video but that one time you never know.
I just had my box of funko pops go missing from my local post office after he checked it in with the scanner. I asked, and he was trying to pay for them. The next day, my box showed up.

Recently had a package get lost in transit to a subscriber, pretty sure they stole it because it had the word Pokémon on it. Wasn’t but $10 of cards but for all they know there coukd have been a MoonBunny in there… Stupid people do stupid shit and I’m not suprised if it had been “Taken” thinking it was real $ cards… A 35 pound box could be someone’s whole collection they’re shipping to let’s say a DPM or CTR… idk can’t say for sure obviously, that’s just my 2 cents.
I did encounter one issue more recently. UPS takes a mystery product I bought to my own country. Gets it passed customs clearance. But since then nothing. No delivery for 5 weeks. I figure some random customs clearance guy likes the Pokemon mystery packs more than to hand it over to me. But since I'm the buyer they don't do a research on my behalf. Go the seller, which I did. And apparently it got stuck on struggle street in a distribution / sorting center. I guess someone likes to use it as a frisbee/coaster because it is too darn difficult to hand it over to a delivery guy. 5 weeks and counting, no end result as of yet.
Dude tell me about it! Fuckin FedEx man, they don't even knock when I leave NOTES ON THE DOOR BEGGING THEM TO KNOCK OR RING, "WE ARE HOME" LITERALLY, 10 ft from the front door. Nah, they park on the road, and run a little sticker to my door like a field mouse. So I just got a PSA 10 pretend grunt Pikachu, the half art w all 7 on there. Anyway needs a sig, so I said fuck it I'll leave it at FedEx and pick it up myself this time so I can get it in the AM, NOPE!! got there the 31st to my location, but said delay for like 4 days, I finally call, and the 1800 lady is like "oh I'm sorry sir but I guarantee your package is there, you can go get it" so after 6-7 times running down to FedEx cuz these ppl won't KNOCK, I try to just leave it there, AND THEY WERE STILL GONNA TRY TO DELIVER! (According to my tracking anyway) Yeah, just ....ugh FedEx. My mail lady for USPS is the bomb
