Really? Their was nothing written about cadence, it was something someone said once, and it caught on and passed on to generations of recruits. It;s obvious you never served, Otherwise you would know it was to boost moral, develop cohesive unity, and to distract runners from the distance they were running by giving them something to take their minds off of the running.
I remember for the broadcast TV version they overdubbed this part with another cadence call about "Puget Debs" trying to snag a husband. "Napalm sticks to kids" was just too extreme for broadcast in the 1980s. They still used this footage though, and you could tell that it was edited because Gossett's lip movement was all out-of-sync.
LOL, I had bumper stickers made YEARS ago that said 'Napalm sticks to Hippies" some lady in a car pulled up bext to me and said "It sticks to kids too". I told her you should not have your kids that close to Hippies
We use to have 3 cadences in Navy boot camp at Orlando in 1981; "we left our mom, we left our truck we left the girl we use to ---- and instead of saring f--k we'd stomp our left foot. Then we had "If you like your women tight, stomp your left and drag your right. We then would stomp our left foot real hard and scrape our right boot on the concrete repeating it three times. Then marching past a female platoon without our company commander we would say; "We like bacon we like eggs but what we like most is between their legs." we got busted singing that to a female group coming back from Sunday Service. The commander from another boot company exercised us on the sidewalk in the Orlando July heat for 2 hours on our day of not having to drill/
It's a damn shame the military did away with cadence like this. In the mid 80s it was going away slowly. Now we have the kinder gentler military....ie a bunch of p#×++×es.
@@3OCALM1 You know what, I'm sick of people throwing that stupid word around. Am I not allowed to think something is fucked up without being accused of being "woke"? Am I not allowed to think of something being wrong without having my opinion attacked by people who think having personal tastes or standards is some kind of character flaw? If you disagree that it's fucked up, fine. That's your business. But stop pretending that every opinion professing some kind of a personal standard is laughable just because it expresses the existence of personal standards...
@@Robert-hz9bj Good rant, but I'd like to point out a few things. You forgot to call me a fascist, a psychopath, and a troll. Also, you only used "fuck" once. A good rant should be peppered with profanity. Additionally, it also helps to use all caps to denote screaming or shouting. However, you did use the word "attacked" as opposed to "disagreed with". Attacked is much more attention getting and is one of the defining characteristics of snowflakery. Best wishes until your next rant, 30CalM1
Lool you're an idiot.. You dk the right wing US military tried to remove this chant in the film along with US soldier getting Filipino pregnant due to the brutality and images of war crimes it conjures up ? This film was only in danger of being cancelled by the RIGHT
