प्राचीन शिव मंदिर
भारतीय पुरातत्व विभाग द्वारा राष्ट्रीय धरोहर घोषित किए गए कैथा प्राचीन शिव मंदिर का इतिहास लगभग 350 साल पुराना है। कहा जाता है कि रामगढ़ राज परिवार के दलेर ¨सह ने इस गुफानुमा मंदिर को बनवाया था। रामगढ़ राज परिवार के दलेर ¨सह बहुत बड़े शिवभक्त थे। दलेर ¨सह का एक किला रामगढ़ में भी था, जो अभी राजागढ़ के रूप में माना जाता है। शिवभक्ति में हमेशा लीन रहने वाले दलेर ¨सह ने ही कैथा में इस गुफानुमा शिव मंदिर का निर्माण कराया था। कैथा में शिव मंदिर निर्माण के बाद उन्होंने पांडुलिपि में शिव महिमा पर एक पुस्तक भी लिखी थी। इसमें इस शिव मंदिर का जिक्र भी है। कहा जाता है कि कई कारणों से दलेर ¨सह की पुस्तक प्रकाशित नहीं हो सकी थी, लेकिन बनारस के किसी संग्रहालय में आज भी पुस्तक सुरक्षित है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि 1670-71 के दशक में बने इस मंदिर की बनावट में स्थापत्य की अदभुत कला है। इस दो मंजिले मंदिर के बेलनकार गुंबद व उस काल के लखौरी ईंटों का प्रयोग व मंदिर का निर्माण अपने आप में अद्भुत कला है।
शिवरात्रि के दिन ऐतिहासिक प्राचीन शिव मंदिर का महत्व और बढ़ जाता है, मंदिर में श्रद्धालुओ का तांता लगा रहता है। इस मंदिर में एक साथ होती है दो शिवलिंग की पूजा, कहते हैं सच्चे मन से मांगी गई मुरादे यहां अवश्य पूरी होती है, कोई भी भक्त यहां से खाली हाथ नहीं लौटा है ।
मंदिर की बनावट को बारीकी से देखने से लगता है कि मंदिर के ऊपरी भाग में शिव मंदिर तो नीचे गुफानुमा फौजी पोस्ट था। मंदिर के नीचे भाग के चारो ओर छोड़े गए छोटे खिड़कीनुमा दीवार से तैनात राजा के सिपाही तीर-धनुष व अन्य हथियार के साथ तैनात रहते थे। कैथा मंदिर के निचले भाग से राजागढ़ दामोदर नदी के किनारे करीब तीन किमी तक सुरंग बनी थी। इसी सुरंग से होकर रामगढ़ राजा व उनका परिवार मंदिर में पूजा अर्चना के लिए आया करते थे।

The history of Kaitha ancient Shiva temple, which has been declared a national heritage by the Archaeological Department of India, is about 350 years old. It is said that Daler Singh of Ramgarh Raj family had built this cave temple. Daler Singh of Ramgarh Raj family was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Daler Singh also had a fort in Ramgarh, which is now known as Rajagarh. Daler Singh, who was always engrossed in devotion to Shiva, had built this cave-like Shiva temple in Kaitha. He also wrote a book on Shiva Mahima in manuscript after the construction of the Shiva temple at Kaitha. There is also a mention of this Shiva temple in it. It is said that due to many reasons the book of Daler Singh could not be published, but the book is still safe in a museum in Banaras. It is said that the design of this temple, built in the decade of 1670-71, has a wonderful art of architecture. The cylindrical dome of this two-storey temple and the use of Lakhori bricks of that period and the construction of the temple is a wonderful art in itself.
On the day of Shivratri, the importance of the historical ancient Shiva temple increases further, there is an influx of devotees in the temple. Two Shivlings are worshiped together in this temple, it is said that the wishes asked with a true heart definitely come true here, no devotee has returned empty handed from here.
Looking closely at the structure of the temple, it seems that there was a Shiva temple in the upper part of the temple and a cave-like military post at the bottom. The king's soldiers stationed by the small window-like wall left around the lower part of the temple were stationed with arrows and bows and other weapons. A tunnel was built for about three km from the bottom of the Kaitha temple to the banks of the Rajagarh Damodar river. Through this tunnel, the Ramgarh king and his family used to come and go for worship in the temple.
