I definitely agree. With that price point it should sit flush, you can get the carbon point across with the carbon but the fitment should become much better as the price increases. Still looks great though man!
I did a carbon fiber lip on my Z and didn't realize how tough it is to fit. The lip wasn't flush to the front bumper & had gaps I used black gasket maker to take care of that & it looked good. I could have used black u shaped auto trim seal but didn't think of it at the time. I also tried a carbon fiber license plate backing by APR but ended up scratching that idea cuz it covered up the truck release button plus APR's holes didn't line up to the cars license plate holes. Ya can't force this stuff on cuz it will scratch paint or the part itself will crack. Thanks for ur video I will stay away from this stuff for now on.
Thanks didn't even think about the rocks getting kicked up. They'll stay on. I trimmed part of them on the passenger side. Still need to trim some of it on the driver side.
I absolutely hate Fly1. Sorry to see your issues with the fitment. That would straight up kill me. That amount of money to have not only fitment issues, but also that clear cost is just not A1.
had the same issues with mine. headlight fitment is horrible and i had the same problem with the bottom bolts. pulled the fender down to close the gap with the side skirt and it sorta "flattened" the fender so now the door sticks out like 1 or 2 mm. for $1k+ these fenders definitely shouldve fit better but i love the look and aggressiveness of these fenders and learned to live with the imperfections
Just watched this from your recommendation on the Z group on fb! Thank you for answering my question! That totally sucks about fitment. Great channel btw ~Albert
This is the main reason I avoid cf as much as possible. I'd say leave them on. They do look really nice. A couple of weeks will go by and you will get used to the problemed areas. There not really bad at all
I just installed mine and I had the same problem as him the hood gap is pretty big and one side when on perfect I loved it but the second side wasn’t lining up at all I had to really push on it to make the screws line up
Looks good with them black fenders and that black bonnet done that to my car people says it looks like it's been smach up but don't care I like the look!!!!
Looks great man!!! Definitely a game changer. My cf fenders comes in tomorrow and I ordered from fly1 to. So hopefully everything goes great with the install.
I agree with you, the fenders that you had to pay 1k+ for should have better fitment. I would’ve returned them immediately, and every set of carbon fenders are a bit different; the clear coat or whatever that you showed did look messed up, and since they were on back order they were probably in a rush to get the product out, not really caring about the quality. Overall, not worth the money
Yeah was feeling a bit disappointed last night when I was finishing up recording but after a good nights sleep I feel a bit better about them. Definitely still frustrating and hopefully this video helps anyone in the future looking to get them. I believe they have a no return policy. Would have to double check. Worse case if I change my mind on them I know I can sell them locally and get good chunk of it back.
Hay brother totally digging the new level to the Z you can look up some shims or something to help level up the areas where it doesn’t even out it’s worth a try I’m not sure how much wiggle room carbon fiber gives you. Maybe ask manufacture specific install ques or maybe someone on RU-vid has pointers. Good luck with fitment in the future
I was going to get these now im double thinking it, if its that much of a hassle for the price i have their renegade hood and its also a big pain getting it on and it doesn't align well either.
I got the honeycomb kevlar fenders from fly1 and still haven’t fully installed due to fitment issues. Completely turned me off from even working on my car. Both sides are way off, catching the hood, terrible fitment around the headlights. The markings they provide for bolt holes are way off from where they actually need to be. I contacted them about it and all I was told was that I may have warped them from letting them sit. Not a good experience at all
This message is for the guy (Hawk ohen) that commented before me! I'm not being rude just honest and I am always the guy that respects everyones builds but with that said. This is to your comment: Then don't go to a car show boss! Because that's all that people will do is critique the imperfections unfortunately even though i ask someone what they got since there talking shit and 9 times out of 10 they don't even have something as nice as your car! So I just say fu
My right headlight looks dipped too annoying for how much they are they fit like shit and clear coat is super wavy. Btw i took my whole fender liner off i didn’t have nice issue 👌🏽
Still looks sick bro keep em on the Z I understand when you pay good money and it’s not 100% it sucks a bit but u did a good job on fitting them superb job 👍👍Ron uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏
mmaaaannnnn.. with that finished product and the amount you paid.. they should've fit wayyy better.. I'd hit up the company and if they say there's nothing they can do (epoxy top coat looks 60% decent and those imperfections are a no go).. I'd put them on blast in a review..
Yeah they wont do anything. They have you agree to some stuff when you purchase it and for review, I figure people that are interested in buying them will stumble upon my video and they can at least get a idea of what they are getting.
I ordered my carbon fenders from alliance carbon. Theyre supposed to be OEM fit. I heard Fly1 had TERRIBLE fitment for hoods and fenders. Only thing Ive ordered from them is a front lip and side blades fk everything else.
I think this is the most honest opinion I've seen of these fenders. I've already heard/read a bunch of negative comments about these fenders and Fly1 Motorsports in general. I was very hesitant to get these for my Z, but I think this is the official deal breaker haha they look cool but I've had a fair share with poor fitment issues, definitely gonna stay away from these 😂
Yup and I haven't seen videos of people showing close ups so hopefully my video helps people when making the choice. I would have probably thought twice if I would have known.
So if you knew about the fitment before you purchased them, would you still have purchased them? Because I really want to buy these fenders, but after seeing this video I’m having second thoughts. I don’t want to get any other fender tbh these are the best looking you can buy..
I definitely wouldn’t have bought them if I knew about the bad fitment. Don’t get me wrong they look good for the most part but it still bothers me knowing how bad the fitment is.
So I pretty much had the same problem that you had except it was driver that’s a lain in the ass. Also I have the same side skirts issue. What did you do to your side skirts since there’s no connect there?
I pulled hard on it to get it on the bolts. It’s literally holding on by friction. I wouldn’t recommend. Check out MIMCK Media’s videos. He actually cut part of the inner brackets to get it to sit right.
@@ProjectKaiGarage33 I'm going for light weight but I think I'll just stick with the OEM fenders.. probably gonna cut it to alleviate high pressure created by the wheels.. thanks for your reply!
Wow, I'm sorry you paid all of that $$$ & it had TERRIBLE fitment! I was going to order me some from Fly1 but after seeing this video, I'll keep my money & try to find something way better. I can't believe Fly1 sells this junk for that much money & I think it looks very bad! No offense. Come on Fly1, you fucks can do better than this shit!
No offense at all. Honestly happy to help people make a decision on either dealing with the issues or just buying something else. If someone else would have made a video like this and I had seen it I would have also not gotten them.
@@ProjectKaiGarage33 I'm so glad you made this video! I love the fenders as far as the looks goes but I just can't get over the fitment especially how much they cost. Thanks for the video!
@@ProjectKaiGarage33 Thanks to this video I ordered my CF fenders from "Alliance Carbon." I got the GT3 CF fenders but All went to shit...LOL. Naaaa, not really BUT it was a hassle. I ordered them and it took 5 months for them to get to me. Then when I got them both of them were damaged. It really wasn't "Alliance Carbon's" fault but it took forever. When I got them I opened them up and most of the corners were chipped and damaged. They wanted me to take them to a body shop and see about how much it would cost to have them repaired. The body shop was like "You need brand new ones so the UPS's Insurance paid for me to get new ones. I had to send the damaged ones back and about a month or so later, I got a email saying the new ones were coming. The first fender was great! The 2nd one had 1 corner chipped and kinda broke but I messaged them and asked if I could just fix it myself and they said yes. I bought some high end epoxy resin and I'm fixing them myself. Here in about a month or 2/3 I'm going to fix it. If you guys want to see them my IG is my name on RU-vid. Follow me if anyone wants too! A lot of things going on this spring and summer! Can't wait!!!!
