I'm still trying to decide. The s45 just because it's a novelty beast. Or spend some money on the rattler. I have 6 or 8 other 35's that won't break the 900 mark. Rattler looks like a serious "FX" caliber weapon. I am sure Mr. Nugent will dig it
Great video. I have a question pertaining to press fitting slugs. I press fit the FX hybrids in the mag of my .357 rattler, and it would not shoot out. Is there some thing I can do about that? Thank.
Energy matters but so does momentum. A heavier projectile, even if moving somewhat slower will generally carry more momentum and penetration will be greater
Copper may not give good results. Copper will induce additional barrel drag and lower velocity. I’ve seen people test copper and loose close to 50% velocity vs lead. I can see a difference between powder coated and plain lead slugs of about 20 fps. Pure lead vs wheel weight lead, pure lead is about 15-20 fps faster. That said most of what I shoot is cast WW.
@@motorgearhead yeah I know, but a lot of copper slugs don’t have very many grooves in are made out of brass not soft copper, also lube will help, it also depends on the barrel, your lens in the grooves, etc. Lethal air is working on a specific barrel for air rifles too, I have a feeling it’s not so far out of touch as people might think
@@motorgearhead if you can get 700fps with a Lehigh defense slug where the slug is heavily grooved and light weight like 110grain with some lube then I would be happy. Might need a new barrel but it’s worth testing it out
@@GregoryMcBride-qf7hx - no telling what the future will hold… But from a expansions standpoint, you’re gonna have to have velocity’s faster than what lead requires since copper will not expand at the lower velocity like lead.
9 inches …. Nice expansion but are you better off running a solid that would pass through? You know the old air rifle hunters moto “2 holes bleeding are better than one”. I don’t know if this is true but it seems to have some logical merit?
No offense, but that is the biggest problem with newbies, everyone thinks that, but in actual life, it doesn't work, these are not 2500 fpe rifles, air rifle kills bleed very little to none, so a fast expanding slug, creating a bigger wound channel will do more damage to the internals than a little pencil hole with zero expansion . I know my business very well.
@@Mrhollowpoint1 - thanks for commenting. Again I don’t know so your input is certainly better than mine. I just repeated what another air gun hunting channel’s take on the subject when they took a deer with a sub 300 fpe 30 cal rifle. No offense intended
@@motorgearhead , no worries, it's I have to deal with that uneducated theory constantly and it gets old, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but once you have killed 40 animals and examine the damage you have a hands on knowledge.
