@@kilabeez0 same. I've got a 2017 600 Polaris Switchback SP, no electric start, just a pull cord. Hasn't let me down once. Never more than 2-3 pulls, even in -30°c... not even including windchill.
hearing those idle reminds me of early saturday mornings my dad would pull start the 440 indy for 8 year old me to rip around the yard. literally gives me butterflies! lol
Brp for the win... Except bad rider positioning, horrible self diagnostics, horrible parts availability, and a snowmobile that wears a tiara for durability. Completely unserviceable at your house. Throws a code take it to the dealer. Well in my case the dealer isn't a hop skip and jump away. Plus trying to get a dead sled there... Just a nightmare.
My 97 Yamaha 700 srx triple needed a few slow warm up pulls to get the engine parts moving g prior to trying to actually start it, otherwise you would tear your shoulder apart and lose the handle to snap back. Lived the sound of that triple with a can on it! RIP red headed triple
The coldest I think I've started my sled was around -6 Fahrenheit, I had let it sit for a few days but didn't expect it to start in 3 pulls. It's got electric start on her but I don't have $150 for a new battery. Gotta love old 94 vmax 600's, even running on 1 cylinder for a bit that thing has never left me stranded!
@@JayAR_YT Lower Compression starts harder cold my man...the extra pressure of high Compression engines build heat, making it easier to ignite the mixture. Physics.. 🤔
4 strokes commonly need some throttle on the newer machines cold starts not just turning over it’ll help to give a bit of throttle to start 4 strokes in cold like that
With electronically controlled fuel delivery and management. Opening the throttle won't help. There's really no need for it. I don't care if it's a 4 stroke or 2 stroke. At 14-20k for a new sled these days the f$%kin things better start at any temperature!
now that time has passed how do you like the 900 ace turbo. pretty impressive how the Doo popped right off! that thing sounded like an old john deere 2 banger.
1, put a better battery in that Cat. Those 1100s already crank slow, and the YUASA batteries they come with aren't that great in extreme temps, and 2, if it still doesnt start right, the valves need to be adjusted.
Typical CAT guy blaming the guy not the machine. Ski Doo started right up because it's a better sled. Sounds like fun working on a sled while its 30 below zero.
@@growmiegreenthumb8025sounds like a typical BRP guy, always looking for an excuse to blame the other brand and not the person responsible for maintaining their shit. lmao.
What size batteries do those ski doo 4 strokes take? My 14 800 etec won't crank over fast enough after about -22°C if it has been sitting overnight. New battery and everything.
pretty sure the batteries are the same as all the other sleds . i had a 13 summit 800 and had the same issue. the starter was trash even at -10. if you remember they promoted the 800 etec with having a great electric start which it wasn't haha. spend the couple bucks and have pull cord installed. upgrading to my 850 with shot has been the greatest thing
@@elihautamaki547 you never will with the ace or new 600 etc. We're talking about the bs with the 800etec and there tendency not wanting to start when it's not even that cold
I have pretty much that exact sled but XF8000 so different skid I think is the only significant difference. I haven't had any problems starting mine yet but I've only had it for about a month and the coldest I've started it so far was -33 celsius with windchill. I wasn't about to ride in that, I just needed to move it from one shop to another 😂 It was sitting in an open front shed though with no heating. It definitely a struggled a bit but it eventually started
After minus 25 I don't touch anything made of plastic/Fibre glass because it's to fragile and I'm not going riding at that temp anyway, wait till it hits 20c below and freebie fires up immediately, hand warmers go on high.
Great sled. I have a 2022 Mach z 900r ace turbo , love mine , I just cycle when I start mine and fires in any temp , that cat don’t start well , not impressed
One of my sleds has the same engine, 998 triple but NA in a 2018 Pantera 7000xt limited and even since new the sled acts up when it's below 0°. That damn thing will crank, fire, die, crank fire die and until it wears down the battery. I got smart the other day in Yellowstone at -30 and plugged the bitch in! Block was 120deg when I went out.
@@gumballer133 they never have. I worked at a dealer and arctic cat was constantly sending us different startup tunes for them every couple months. If you take your sled in to the dealer they should have an updated tune for your sled that may fix the starting issue. They'll do it for free as long as it is still a valid recall
@Cameron Pinder I did not know that, I will have to try to get it in. We don't even have as many dealers anymore either. The one by my house in Ohio closed and the one by where we stay in West Yellowstone closed too. I ended up buying a new 850 turbo, summit expert for the girlfriend just so we have a local dealer to go to.
@ Jack Desautels 69 Olympic 1,3 or 4 1/2 yoinks, & she's a SNORTIN AWAY 🤣 🤣 🤣 & if the throttle sticks when she starts,I just walk from behind to catch the ol girl lolol
My family rode sleds in the late 90s early 2000s, not so much anymore, but to this day I still hear "don't buy an articat they're just useless oil sieves" Can't say if it's true tho cuz I took the advice lol 1984 Honda 200es big red and a 1972 Kawasaki KZ650 don't really need anything else.
Not all of that statement is true. Temperature clearly doesn't a affect them as much but that doesn't mean they always start 😂 Coming from someone that's owned 8 BRP snowmobiles
Two exactly identely Toyotas - 40 . The owner of One of the Toyotas ,has been careless with his battery. Wich car do you think starts??? Not rocket science
The 1st renegade in the video started like butter... and all he did was press a button. I would say it starts better than the old triples, no matter how much I love those.
I wish Arctic Cat would make a modern two stroke triple. I mean I understand why they don't, two stroke triples like to do piston deletes every 100km, but still. Imagine the old ZRT900 engine in a new ZR RR chassis. That would be an insane machine.
Hard to beat those 4 stroke brp, fire up in -40 without issue. . The effortlessly drive away with a frozen track where a 2 stroke sits there unable to make enough power to turn the track.
I have a 2013 nytro mtx same motor as that attic cat and mine never starts in the cold . Same thing kick a bunch of times then it’ll go after I boost it
@@bb6seb Right on!! I was just having fun with a comment someone made about trying to start their sled in -54 to see if it "snorts" ..Gosh was I laughing!! Those zrt's are almost bullet proof imo!!!
Ya my 2016 apex wont start. Farts and queefs just like the arctic cat. It won't be my sled for long. 2003 Yamaha Viper 700? No problem but i sold it for The Fat pig Apex. Was the Worst decision of my snowmobile hobby.
