In this live stream, Tyler will show you the ins and outs of the NEW 3D sketch capabilities in Fusion 360 by showing you how to design a welded tubular front bumper for an ATV.
If you are interested in designing bumpers or roll cages, this live stream is for you! You'll also love this live stream if you are interested in using scan data as an underlay to design a perfectly fitting component.
Here is a link to Tyler's finished design (if you want to follow along): a360.co/3ajONTZ

The scan quality is amazing - stuck with photogrammetry until it's more affordable, or I make new friends! Thanks for the video

Many thanks for a great video, am very new to F360 so nice seeing what it can do, more 3D sketching please, plus taking it into manufacture

Nice job explaining the new 3d sketch environment. And I understand this is not a Engineering video on how to make a bumper, But your design would take out the entire front fenders and hood with the first tiny tree you hit.

Thank you so much, tbh I wasn't even aware of this new feature, just designed a bullbar for a scale model of a semi.

Awesome livestream, easy to follow but I do have one question regarding the pipe command. I don't see this problem when I try to put a fillet between the pipe and plate. Is there a small gap at where the pipe and the vertical plate meet on yours due the fact that line coming out of plate not perpendicular? Thanks,

Thanks Tyler and Jason, excellent as always :) This really opens up the concept of "ease of design". P.S. spent some time in Brekenridge many years ago, loved it.

Thanks for the great video. I'm Wondering if it's possible to sketch a line with an arc going up and down while arcing Front and Back. I'm trying to make a sheet metal part that I can flatten to get a route file. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

This is a good tutorial of a very nice new feature, however I'd like to see a follow up video where you produce a fabrication drawing of this bumper. I produce these drawings myself professionally, and its an absolute chore due to lacking features such as: - No isometric dimensioning - No easy feature to provide lengths in a bill of materials - Limited options placing dimensions on curved features like the copes of that pipe - Alignment of parts (like all the angles) needs to be done by creating new views in the model environment to create projected views that can then be used in 2D drawings - No frame or weldment feature in the modelling environment to easily create rigid tubes - No weld symbols - Creating isolated views of individual pipes like that assembly is a challenge I could list more, it is very unfortunate that the total package of Fusion is lacking to deliver everything needed to physically build a project like this tubular steel bumper.

Hello Garret. Do you know any program that gives you all you mention ?? I want to buy a 3D scanner to creat 3D sketching, exactly to do this. I’m in the atvs an UTVs accesories industry in México. Thanks for your comments.

Nice work. The only thing now is how do you get a cut sheet with dimensions. This design does no good if you can't make it.

Great video. Can you please demonstrate how you would make this a drawing to be manufactured? I know that you could import the sold shapes into other software that will produce the bend data, but how could this be done without that software?

I have digitizing arm and pull point data from stuff we reverse engineer and found a path to get the data into f360, but working with that data (especially accurate initial orientation) is a mess. I'd love any suggestions you guys have on being able to accurately utilize the scan / point data as direct reference for modeling. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Both Chrome and Firefox seem to flag your canvas jpeg as malware (which is weird). Maybe recompress it?

Autodesk has been promising a frame generator from last 2 years and still nothing. We got 3 fusion subscriptions last year September and it was good to start with but we keep coming back to Solidworks due to frame generator and weldments. We won’t be renewing our subscriptions once they finish this year.

A frame generator is such a needed feature, I also struggle without it.

Your bottom bends (closest to the bracket) are needlessly complicated to make. Try to keep all bends to 45/90° angles, and no twisties! Also, you need another bracket if you don't want your bashbar to be flappy and banc straight into your bodywork upon first impact.
